Model of the Importance of Socio-Cultural in Waste Management on Penyengat Island

The main problem of waste management in Penyengat Island is the increasing population growth and increasing volume of waste and limited land so that it is difficult to carry out waste management using the final waste treatment site because it has a large potential for pollution. The low level of public awareness in managing household waste is caused by the community's social, economic, and cultural conditions. This study designs Model of the Importance of Socio-Cultural in Waste Management on Penyengat Island. This research method is an analytical survey with a cross-sectional design, the community subjects who live in Penyengat Island with a sample size of 270 people, taken by random sampling. Data analysis using chi-square test and logistic regression. Logical regression equation model in (p/(1-p)) - 1,614 + 0,505 (place of residence) + 0.642 (local wisdom). Waste management needs cultural values that already exist and should be maintained as part of one's identity and efforts to maintain the balance of nature and the environment. It is also necessary to conduct a policy study regarding the island's waste management program with a socio-cultural value approach.

Biofertilizers for Sustainable Production of Strawberry: A-Review

Modern-day intensive strawberry cultivation relies on huge application of inorganic fertilizers, which not only disrupt the balance of nature but also reduce the economic efficiency; however, it cannot be eliminated at this time without drastically decreasing its production. Hence, to tackle these problems for sustainable production of crops, bio-fertilizers and organic manures are the best alternatives. The principle of this review is based on the goal of reducing synthetic fertilizers and other chemical input usage in strawberry production. The review discusses the diffuse nature of current reports in the literature concerning microbes as inputs towards a better use efficiency of fertilizers and the possibility of reducing the total amount of fertilizer usage and sustainable and quality strawberry production. Studies with bio-inoculants in combination with inorganic nutrients have proved that some inoculants such as Azotobactor, Azospirillum, Pseudomonas, Bacillus, Mycorrhizae fungi Aspergillus and Penicillium can increase the nutrient uptake of strawberry plant and increased fertilizers use efficiency. Biofertilizers in combination with inorganic fertilizers and organic manures have significant impact on plant growth (i.e., state some of the parameters here), yield (i.e., state some of the parameters here) and quality (i.e., state some of the parameters here). Likewise, organic manures improve soil physical conditions and supply all essential macro elements and microelements. These confirmations of concept studies will serve as the basis for vigorous future research into integrated nutrient management in strawberry.

Rebranding of Arnetta Craft’s product in Malaka Sari, East Jakarta

The role of society is very important in maintaining the balance of nature. The community empowerment approach is the success key in educating the surrounding environment. Arnetta Craft is a community empowerment presenting in Malaka Sari, East Jakarta. Arnetta Craft continuously invites all levels of society caring about the results of household waste, especially used cooking oil. Processed products from household waste produce a useful product for people's daily needs and have commercial selling value. However, with the existing competition, the marketing approach needs to be improved by creating logos, labeling and product packaging. To be able to produce logos, labeling and product packaging, a structured interview was conducted with the owner of Arnetta Craft. At the end of the activity, new logos, labeling and packaging have been produced used as product rebranding.

An Overview of the Biochemical and Histopathological Effects of Insecticides

The number of studies on insecticides, which constitute an important class of pesticides, is increasing day by day. These chemicals used in the fight against pests in the field of agriculture; It is also used to fight mosquitoes and insects in homes, gardens and rural areas. Excessive use of insecticides has adversely affected many beneficial organisms besides target organisms. As a result of the negative effects of insecticides on non-target organisms, the normal balance of nature has been disturbed and this has led to the decline of some living species in the world. In many studies from the past to the present, it has been shown that these insecticides have negative effects on the environment, human and animal health. Some of these chemicals, which have many benefits in the fight against agricultural pests, have been banned due to their harmful effects on non-target organisms as a result of excessive use. Today, however, these chemicals are still used intensively against agricultural pests, threatening non-target organisms and human health. For this reason, in this book chapter we have prepared, the negative effects of insecticides on living things are examined by reviewing biochemical and histopathological studies.

Editorial Strategic Planning for Energy and the Environment: Theories, Practice and the Future

The purpose of this paper is to illustrate the importance of strategic planning in general and its application in energy and the environment in particular. In the contemporary world, planning is so common that we cannot even manage everyday life without plan. Strategic planning is a formalized, structured, planned way to manage planning from formulation to implementation, evaluation, and control. When we talk about energy, we mostly talk about the various forms (physical) of energy such as nuclear, thermal, chemical, electrical, or other forms which create and transform energy. The sources of energy can be solar, wind, water, nuclear, electromagnetism or related to fossil – coal, gas, petroleum etc. The world rarely has sufficient energy therefore, strategic planning for energy is essential to sustain and maintain the energy supply and demand. The environment is our entire surroundings including the land, air, water, or the combination of all biotic and abiotic factors of the planet. We have ample evidence that anthropogenic disturbances have already destroyed the balance of nature, as a result the global climatic pattern is changed, and there has been unprecedented damage to our ecosystem. Such severe impacts due to global environmental change mean that it is extremely urgent that we formulate a strategic plan (or plans) to protect the environment. There are as yet no alternatives for Planet Earth, therefore we need planned strategies to minimize the environmental problems. This review outlines why strategic planning is so important for the future of energy and the environment since they go hand in hand.

The Balance of Nature: A Global Marine Perspective

The ancient idea of the balance of nature continues to influence modern perspectives on global environmental change. Assumptions of stable biogeochemical steady states and linear responses to perturbation are widely employed in the interpretation of geochemical records. Here, we review the dynamics of the marine carbon cycle and its interactions with climate and life over geologic time, focusing on what the record of past changes can teach us about stability and instability in the Earth system. Emerging themes include the role of amplifying feedbacks in producing past carbon cycle disruptions, the importance of critical rates of change in the context of mass extinctions and potential Earth system tipping points, and the application of these ideas to the modern unbalanced carbon cycle. A comprehensive dynamical understanding of the marine record of global environmental disruption will be of great value in understanding the long-term consequences of anthropogenic change. SASTRA CYBER ABAD KE-20: SEBUAH TINJAUAN TENTANG NILAI PENGUATAN KARAKTER ETIS LINGKUNGAN

This research is an attempt to explain the form of environmental ethics and values ??of strengthening the Quadriology character of the Novel by Ki Padmasusastra (hereinafter referred to as QNKKP). This study uses a qualitative research paradigm. The object of this research is called cyber literature because the data is taken from online sites. The main data of the study include four novels by Ki Padmasusastra. Technical data analysis uses content analysis techniques that are based on cultural hermeneutics. The results showed that, QNKKP is a reflection of the universality of Javanese literature wrapped in the symbolism of literary texts. The picture of people's life is the goal of an ideal standard of living that is in accordance with the values ??that develop in Javanese culture. The main goal of environmental wisdom in the perspective of Javanese culture is to help hayuning bawana 'maintain the balance of nature', in order to create a harmonious life between creatures in the universe. An important implication of the research findings is that human awareness to respect each other's existing entities is the basis of strength that can guide human character to seek fellowship with nature.

The Role of Environmental Attitudes in Explaining Public Perceptions of Climate Change and Renewable Energy Technologies in Lithuania

The Baltic states in general and Lithuania in particular represent a controversial combination of rapidly increasing climate change impacts and moderate or low concern with the climate crisis. A value shift is essential for the societal support and acceptance of renewable energy solutions. This study investigates the role of environmental attitudes in shaping the acceptance and risk perceptions of renewable energy technologies. The article analyses how environmental attitudes are shaping public attitudes towards climate change and perceptions of renewable energy technologies in Lithuania using New Environmental Paradigm (NEP) and environmental identity questions. The study analyses data from a representative public opinion survey with 1029 respondents conducted in Lithuania. The results reveal that environmental identity is a more significant factor in shaping risk perceptions of renewable technologies than is the NEP scale. The balance of nature dimension from the NEP is more closely related to perceptions of renewables than are humans’ right to rule claims. The results show that environmental attitudes have low explanatory power in explaining perceptions of energy technologies in Lithuania.
