Personality coherence is an individual difference capturing the extent to which a person’s psychological characteristics are coordinated, unified, and integrated. The present research addressed the extent to which coherence indicators inter-correlate and predict relevant outcomes over and above the effects of the Big Five among midlife adults ( N = 446). Coherence indicators loaded onto four components: actor coherence, which captured the extent to which people were consistent in their interpersonal values, traits, and behavior; agent coherence, which captured the extent to which people’s goals were coordinated and need-congruent; author coherence, which captured the extent to which people’s self-defining stories were well composed and theme laden; and controlled coherence, which captured the extent to which people experienced their goals as pressured or compelled and as leading them to need-detracting futures. Although actor coherence correlated with both agent and author coherence, agent and author coherence were not correlated. Nevertheless, the actor-, agent-, and author-coherence composites each predicted at least one of the outcome variables (i.e., well-being, autonomy, and ego development) over and above the Big Five. The present findings suggest that the coherence of personality constitutes an individual difference domain of consequence beyond the established content dimensions of personality.

Abstract This study addresses the evolution of the Sicilian discourse marker mentri to explore the concept of cyclicity in semantic–pragmatic change. Stemming from Latin dŭm ĭntĕrim (‘while, in the meantime’), the temporal conjunction develops – like its Romance cognates – an adversative function meaning ‘whereas’, which further evolves from an oppositional to a counter-expectational contrast value meaning ‘though’. The latter serves as a bridging context for the emergence of discourse-pragmatic uses and is examined below. Mentri evolves as discourse marker: formally, it gains greater syntactic and positional independence, and it increases in scope; functionally, it displays both textual and interpersonal values. In its overall path, mentri shows a cyclical change in respect to the adversative function: oppositional contrast emerges out of the temporal meaning, it then develops into counter-expectation, and it eventually fades into the discourse-pragmatic values. The rise of mentri as a discourse marker is thus interpreted as a case of cyclicity from a semasiological perspective.

<p class="0abstract"><span lang="EN-US">The particularity of E- Assessment is that it allows to combine the assessment of personality with that of personal and interpersonal values. It is this joint assessment that makes all the richness and interest of digital assessment for human resources professionals in terms of recruitment, career management, professional orientation and assessment of soft skills. The platforms dedicated to evaluation cover several families: behavioral tests or personality tests, aptitude tests and value questionnaires. They have the particularity to measure with a certain precision dimensions clearly denied by the editor, in connection with scientific concepts. Then they statistically compare the results to a standard and a reference population. In order to assess the impact of E- Assessment t, we opted during this study at SOSIE 2nd Generation for a digital HR tool that meets the current requirements of human resources professionals for assessment in international contexts. Indeed, the work was carried out on the content of the items, the dimensions, the descriptive and interpretation reports through a reading in terms of percentiles, common behavior styles for a population of Moroccan professionals operating in various sectors of activity.</span></p>

This study examines the linguistic resources employed by Arab academic researchers to realize the interpersonal values when introducing their research topics. It also investigates how the linguistic resources interact with the rhetorical move functions to formulate the features of effective authorial stance. Specifically, the study focuses on how the interplay of engagement resources and rhetorical move functions persuasively serves the overall argumentative writing expected in academic context. To this end, the study draws on the engagement system by Martin and White (2005) and the move structure in the CARS model by Swales (1990). The data consisted of 20 Arabic RA introductions drawn from two established journals in the field of education. The results showed an evident relation between the meanings conceived in rhetorical moves and authorial stances. The authorial stances were highly interpersonal and dialogic as most of propositions displayed linguistic features pertaining to heterogloss. Furthermore, writers tended to take assertive stance when reporting previous research findings by drawing heavily on Proclaim options, but when creating research gaps, they relied on Disclaim options. When theorizing for their studies, they, however, seemed to claim sharing views with readers through notable employment of Attribute resources. These results may raise writers' awareness of the relationship between authorial stance-taking and rhetorical move purposes, and how that is crucial for the formulation of persuasive argument endeavored in academic writing.

Objective: Although the link between mismatched interpersonal values and efficacies and increased interpersonal problems would seem intuitive, previous research has not directly tested this association. This study provides a more comprehensive examination of this relationship than has previously been attempted while also providing a framework through which similar questions regarding intrapersonal mismatches may be investigated. Method: Using scales based in the interpersonal circumplex, we evaluate the values, efficacies and problems of two large samples (undergraduate N=1453, community N=1099), and use response surface analysis to model these variables and their various alignments. Results: We found that there were significant positive relationships between increased mismatches and increased problems in our primary models. We also found that extremity in both matches and mismatches predicted increased problems from the linear trend and that when focusing along an IPC dimension (e.g. warmth), a mismatch of values being greater than efficacies predicted reported problems with the opposite pole of the dimension (e.g., coldness). Conclusion: This study elaborates upon the relationship between values and efficacies, producing results that both align with previous work, and enriching the conceptualization of this relationship via the complexity allowed by the use of RSA.

Professional dohori now encompasses the competition circuit, the recording industry, dohori restaurant performance, and tours through Nepal and Nepali communities abroad. Yet different systems of exchange that have governed musical production throughout history still affect how musicians make a living and are perceived in terms of status and honor in Nepali society. This chapter examines the impact of material changes on dohori artists as the genre became professionalized, and how gaining and maintaining honor sometimes conflicts with new ways of making a living as an artist under changing systems of economic and interpersonal values. This allows us to examine what appropriate and honorable artistic personhood means in terms of expression of in songs, and their relations to the intersectional aspects of social personhood that determine honor and prestige.
