Abstract The solid-phase reaction method for preparing forsterite (Mg2SiO4) using MgO and SiO2 powders has the disadvantages of high reaction temperature, long reaction time, and inhomogeneous reaction depending on the particle size of MgO. Therefore, MgO-based powders with a high reactivity were synthesized using a coprecipitation method with substitutional elements (Mn or Ni), and the effects of processing parameters on synthesizing MgO-based binary composition powders were investigated through the particle characteristics. The crystal structure continuously changed with the contents of the substitutional element, showing the same trend as the atomistic simulation results. The MgO-based powders showed higher reactivity than the conventional MgO powder, which could be confirmed in the particle characteristics, such as particle size and crystallinity, obtained in a short reaction time, and at a relatively low temperature. The optimum composition ratio in the binary composition powder for forming the Mg2SiO4 depended on the type of substitutional element, and the reaction mechanism was identified based on the particle characteristics.

AbstractThis article outlines and elucidates the methods used in my compositional work. I often find it impossible to limit my compositional approach to core theorems and describe them succinctly; my procedure and methodology often comprise opposing poles. As multi-polarity is a decisive criterion of my work, this specific dichotomy of methods and motivations is the overriding subject matter of this text. These characteristics also constitute my temperament, which is why I often perceive my pieces as very personal. This is not – at least not primarily – meant emotionally or subjectively, but in the way tasks, situations, musical works, or life itself are approached. I will examine numerous contradictory couplings within my work and explain their personal significance: Seriousness vs. Humour/Irony, Organism vs. Virtuality, Pop Music vs. New Music, Conception vs. Intuition, Expressivity vs. Introversion, and Technology vs. Romance.

The chapter presents a short sketch of the history of the Afro-Asiatic language family (often labeled a macro-family or language phylum), beginning with the history of the names Semitic and Hamitic. Changes in the composition of Afro-Asiatic are examined with a special focus on the correlation between Semitic and Hamitic. The place of Hamitic theory in Hamito-Semitic studies and its theoretical premises are discussed, as well as the reasons to reject the concept of original binary composition of the family and the very notion of Hamitic. All this led to changing the name of the family from Hamito-Semitic to Afro-Asiatic, which comprises five or six independent branches: Semitic, Ancient Egyptian, Berber, Chadic, Cushitic, and Omotic (as an independent branch or part of Cushitic). The present state of the art in comparative Afro-Asiatic and possible external links of Afro-Asiatic are also discussed.

The prospect of producing high-viscosity oil based on the thermal-gas-chemical formation treatment of exposure using binary composition in a well with a dual-well system is considered. The theoretical, computational, and experimental justification of the depth of reservoir heating, the distance between the vertical and side shafts, and the parameters of the technological mode of oil rate is given.

Sb–Te and Bi–Te compounds are key components of thermoelectric or phase change recording devices. These two binary systems form commensurately/incommensurately modulated long-period layer stacking structures known as homologous phases that comprise discrete intermetallic compounds and X phases. In the latter, the homologous structures are not discrete but rather appear continuously with varying stacking periods that depend on the binary composition. However, the regions over which these X phases exist have not yet been clarified. In this study, precise synchrotron X-ray diffraction analyses of various specimens were conducted. The results demonstrate that the X phase regions are located between Sb20Te3 and Sb5Te6 in the Sb–Te system and between Bi8Te3 and Bi4Te5 in the Bi–Te system.

Metallic colloids are frequently used in industry and provide understanding of science at microns to nanometers scales along with their applicability for various technologically important applications. Present investigations deal with morphology and structure of gold, silver and their binary composition while processing certain amounts of their solutions in a newly designed process and tapping opportunities of developing tiny-shaped particles. At tuned ratio of pulse OFF to ON time and when gold solution was processed, several tiny-shaped particles developed at the solution’s surface. Such tiny particles exert force at the tip of each converting their structure of smooth element where steady-state immersing behavior directed them toward a common centre resulting into bind them for developing different geometric anisotropic shaped particles. Under identical parameters along with pulse time, processing solutions of silver nitrate and binary composition of chloroauric acid-silver nitrate result in the development of tiny particles having no specific shape where their assembling is under the mixed behavior of forces resulting in distorted particles. Elongation and deformation of gold and silver atoms while developing different structures are because of the plastically driven behavior of their electrons. In three-dimensional structures where atoms do not undergo transition to elongate, they retain the structure as it is, which is known as hcp structure or two-dimensional structure. Different nature of precursors along with morphology and structure of particles are discussed in this paper opening abundant avenues for research.
