Matched Queues with Flexible Customers and Impatient Customers

This paper studies a double-ended queue with four Poisson inputs and flexible customers, and its stability is guaranteed by customers’ impatient behavior. We show that such a queue can be expressed as a quasi birth-and-death (QBD) process with infinitely many phases. For this purpose, we provide a detailed analysis for the QBD process, including the system stability, the stationary probability vector, the sojourn time, and so forth. Finally, numerical examples are employed to verify the correctness of our theoretical results, and demonstrate how the performance measures of this queue are influenced by key system parameters. We believe that the methodology and results described in this paper can be applied to analyze many practical issues, such as those encountered in sharing economy, organ transplantation, employee recruitment, onlinedating, and so on.

Digital Era and New Methods for Employee Recruitment

The ever-increasing digitalization in today's business processes—and incredibly fast-growing markets—have created a more competitive business environment. And, this more competitive business environment has led companies to be more demanding regarding the employee qualifications as well as the quality of tasks carried out by these employees. Moreover, this change process has rendered the traditional human resources management methods inadequate, further digitizing the field of human resources. In this study, the authors examine the handling of recruitment functions within human resources management and the digitization process. Furthermore, they discuss both the basic dynamics of the e-recruitment processes, the tools of e-recruitment, as well as its advantages and disadvantages.

COVID-19 related factors affecting the experiences of neurodivergent persons in the workplace: A rapid review

BACKGROUND: Policy responses to the COVID-19 pandemic offer possibilities to advance social justice. One such prospect is to make workplaces more inclusive of neurodivergence. OBJECTIVE: This research addresses the question of, in what ways might COVID-19 affect the experiences of neurodivergent persons in the workplace? METHODS: Conducting a rapid review, the author has applied thematic analysis to a total of 50 documents comprised of journal articles, news articles, and guides as retrieved from purposive searches of ProQuest Central, ProQuest Newsstream International, Google Scholar, and Google databases. RESULTS: Research results have revealed themes of challenges and opportunities, and sub-themes of accommodating (i.e., remote working, employee recruitment, retainment or advancement and/or access); and diversity and inclusion (i.e., acceptance, empathy and/or ERGs). CONCLUSION: This study has informed a baseline COVID-19-related guide to accommodating and including neurodivergence in the workplace. The review concludes by offering possibilities as to what a COVID-19 inspired ‘new normal’ might mean for supporting neurodivergent staff (and prospective staff).

Storytelling in business—How to increase customer engagement

Storytelling, as a marketing innovation, is the market communication tool that allows present the facts in a coherent and attractive way so as to stand out from the competition and more effectively influence the consumer’s imagination and engagement. It can be concluded that the history of storytelling itself dates back to the beginnings of mankind, when humans started to transfer knowledge from generation to generation. The chapter indicates that storytelling evokes emotions in customers, and these in turn affect commitment and action. The most important and primary elements of storytelling include superior message, conflict, characters (the archetypes) and plot. Each good story can be based on a few important points, which are well described by the concept proposed by American writer Joseph Campbell. In addition, the chapter also presents examples of sources of inspiration for storytelling. Among them, it is worth mentioning, for example: history of the company’s founder or president, the beginnings of the company, employees’ stories or milestones (successes or failures). The last part presents two case studies of the use of storytelling by enterprises. These are examples from the Polish market regarding the use of storytelling in employee recruitment and customer engagement.

Managing teacher turnover in regional schools

Employee resourcing comprising employment activities such as human resource planning, employee recruitment, selection, and adaptation, or retention planning and managing employee turnover seems to be a critical function of school management. It enables school managers to ensure the school has quality teachers and other employees it needs to achieve the expected objectives of the school. The biggest challenges of school managers in employee resourcing involve retaining teachers and dealing with teacher turnover. Based on the example of Czech regional schools, the article aims to discuss the current challenges of school managers in employee resourcing in regional schools and define possible ways to deal with the issue of retaining teachers and teacher turnover. The article applies findings of the authors' questionnaire survey on the practice of employee resourcing in Czech regional schools with the focus on the teachers' adaptation as a critical tool for retaining teachers. The authors' questionnaire survey was carried out in the second half of the school year 2018/2019 and in the first half of the school year 2019/2020. The respondents included managers of Czech preschools, elementary schools, and high schools. The answers were obtained from 19% of schools (116 out of 600 addressed schools). The findings show that surveyed regional schools can successfully deal with the challenges in employee resourcing, however, they should apply a more systematic approach, especially to the teachers' adaptation that could help them to deal with the challenge in retaining teachers and reducing the teacher turnover.

Peramalan Penerimaan Karyawan PT. Cipta Persada Infrastruktur Menggunakan Monte Carlo

Forecasting is done at PT. Cipta Persada Infrastructure (CPI) using the Monte Carlo method. The forecasting process refers to the use of employee recruitment data for the last 3 years (2018, 2019 and 2020). Currently the company is concentrating on toll road projects in Riau province including the Permai Toll Road, Pekanbaru – Bangkinang Toll Road and other toll roads in Riau. The simulation will be implemented using PHP programming. The results of this study are the level of prediction accuracy of employee acceptance at PT. Citra Persada Infrastructure using the Monte Carlo method is 80%. The Monte Carlo method is suitable to be used to accurately predict the level of employee acceptance for the following year, so that the results of the research can be used by PT. Citra Persada Infrastruktur (CPI) and other parties in need.

In this study, researchers used SWOT analysis, PHP (Hypertext Preprocessor) was used for the programming language, while the software used for the database server system was MySQL, and XAMPP. With this employee recruitment system, it can make it easier for applicants to be able to directly access the application files on the website, as well as make it easier for HRD in the process of selecting new employees.
