This chapter examines the post-convergence process of organizing ideas that are generated during collaborative idea generation activities. The method presented reduces the impact of organizing brainstorming ideas on individual participants by dividing the organization activity into smaller, discrete tasks that can be completed individually, and in parallel, by the participants. The entire pool of brainstorming ideas is subdivided into smaller pools and each participant is then tasked with organizing one of the subsets of ideas. The results show that by dividing up the overall activity into subtasks, the subjects experienced a more favorable environment. Furthermore, the subjects were able to work through their subset of ideas and produce results that were similar to those performing the full sort of the entire pool.

Most of writing teachers agree that writing skill is the most difficult subject for foreign language learners. The difficulties come from complexity of planning, idea organization, revision, and the use of lexical and grammatical. Correcting or giving feedback to students’ writing is also difficult for teachers, since it takes time and energy. Thus, this study tried to explore students’ perception towards teachers’ attitude in writing correction by distributing questionnaire to 20 students and 4 writing teachers, observing the teaching activities, and documenting students’ work. The study showed the result that teachers and students responses revealed various discrepancies between teachers and students’ perception for error and mistake correction. Then, most of students indicated that they do not understand the teachers’ feedback towards their writing composition. Therefore, it is recommended that teachers incorporate classroom discussions on error correction, feedback, and writing in order to help their students understand how feedback is intended to affect their writing and why it is given in particular way.

Writing is considered to be a sequence of complicated process in which the students need to organize their ideas and develop them into a systematic order. Due to its complexity process, students often find problems in writing, such as idea organization, sentence arrangements, punctuation, and capitalization. Consequently, this study examined the essay writing class students of the undergraduate program to find out whether or not self-reflection in portfolio gives contribution in improving their writing skills. A questionnaire, observational field notes, and document of students’ self-reflections were used to collect data about the students’ awareness about self-refection, portfolio and writing based on their perspectives. The findings reveal that the self-reflection in portfolio indeed has given contribution toward students’ writing through a set of guided questions so that the students become more aware about their strengths and weaknesses in every draft of their writing. Knowing those things will eventually help students to produce better writing on their own that lead them to be autonomous learners.
