Level of Local Community Brand Awareness of Samosir Tourism

This study aims to: (1) determine the level of local community brand awareness of the brand "Negeri Indah Kepingan Surga" in Samosir Regency, and (2) know the local community's perception of the branding "Negeri Indah Kepingan Surga" in Samosir Regency. Methods of data collection through questionnaires and interviews. Data analysis was carried out in descriptive quantitative with a Likert scale and qualitative. In order for qualitative research to be better, member checks and group discussion forums were then carried out. The sample in this study amounted to 96 people, while the informants amounted to 9 people. The results of this study are: (1) the level of brand awareness of the local community towards the brand "Negeri Indah Kepingan Surga" in Samosir Regency is at the brand recall level, and (2) There has not been any unified perception among the local community on the brand "Negeri Indah Kepingan Surga". in Samosir Regency. Some of the ways that must be done in order to achieve brand awareness of local community. The local community's perception of the tourism brand in Samosir Regency is still varied, although it has a positive tone.

The role of qualitative research in Change Laboratory interventions

Purpose This contribution investigates methodological questions concerning Change Laboratory interventions. It contemplates the research questions: To what extent the Change Laboratory can be situated within the panorama of qualitative inquiry? If so, to what extent can the methods and strategies of inquiry help improve a Change Laboratory intervention? Design/methodology/approach To answer the first question, this paper makes an overview on key terms of qualitative research; subsequently, it presents the characterising features of the Change Laboratory. Then, it takes a historical perspective and compares the Change Laboratory firstly against action research, and secondly with design experiments. To answer the second section, it examines a case study of Change Laboratory with teachers that the first author facilitated. Next, it displays how trustworthiness was ensured through a thick description and member checks. Findings The paper argues that the Change Laboratory is a strategy of inquiry; it aligns with the characteristics of qualitative research, and it follows the agenda of a participative paradigm. Furthermore, the methods and strategies of inquiry such as thick descriptions and member checks, not only can improve rigour and validity of the intervention but also strengthen the outcomes of the Change Laboratory itself. Originality/value The Change Laboratory is well defined as a formative method, but not fully understood as an investigative method. Although scholars discussed methodological issues of Cultural Historical Activity Theory in diverse articles, the relationship between the Change Laboratory and qualitative inquiry has remained unclear.

Arab AmericanMuslims is one group that has experienced an increase in perceived racialdiscrimination. Even less is known about Arab American Muslim Adolescents experiencesof coping when faced with racial discrimination.&nbsp; This study aims to highlight the livedexperiences of Arab American adolescents’ perceived racial discrimination as itrelates to their coping experiences. Therewere 10 (female=5; male=5) Arab American youth ages 13-17 and identifiedas Muslim. Participants were recruited using purposive sampling. Using aphenomenological approach, data were collected using semi-structured individualinterviews and online journals. Validity was assessed via member checks andtriangulation of data using multiple participants and sources.&nbsp; The data were analyzed using interpretivephenomenological analysis, guided by Risk and Resilience theory and CriticalRace Theory. Results highlighted three positive and three negative waysparticipants experienced coping to perceived racial discrimination.Implicationsof this study can aid psychologists in promoting positive responses to racialdiscrimination while also helping students recognize negative responses.Understanding the way an adolescent responds provides better insight into theirpsychological well-being. &nbsp;&nbsp;

STRATEGI PEMBINAAN PESERTA DIDIK DALAM RANGKA PENGUATAN PENDIDIKAN KARAKTER BERBASIS NILAI PANCASILA DI SEKOLAH DASAR

The purpose of this study is to describe the strategy of strengthening character education based on Pancasila values through coaching students at the Elementary School Laboratory Universitas Negeri Malang, Blitar City. The research was conducted qualitatively with a case study approach. Data obtained through unstructured interviews, observation and documentation study. Data credibility checks were carried out using triangulation techniques, random member checks and discussion with fellow researchers. The results of this study indicate that the strategy of coaching students in order to strengthen Pancasila value-based character education is divided into learning and non-learning aspects. The strategy to strengthen character education based on Pancasila values in schools is implemented in accordance with the vision and mission of the school including being adjusted to the characteristics of school learning oriented towards western education patterns by focusing on understanding and using English as the excellence of the school. Combined with eastern customs which are described in the character building activities of students.Keywords: strategy; strengthening character education; pancasila value; elementary school laboratory.Abstrak: Tujuan penelitian ini yakni mendeskripsikan strategi penguatan pendidikan karakter berbasis nilai pancasila melalui pembinaan peserta didik di SD Laboratorium UM Kota Blitar. Penelitian dilakukan secara kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara tidak terstruktur, observasi dan studi dokumentasi. Pengecekan kredibilitas data dilakukan dengan menggunakan teknik triangulasi, pengecekan anggota secara acak (random member check) dan diskusi teman sesama peneliti. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan strategi pembinaan peserta didik dalam rangka penguatan pendidikan karakter berbasis nilai pancasila dibagi ke dalam aspek pembelajaran dan non pembelajaran. Strategi penguatan pendidikan karakter berbasis nilai pancasila di sekolah dilaksanakan sesuai dengan visi dan misi sekolah termasuk disesuaikan dengan ciri khas pembelajaran sekolah yang berkiblat pada pola pendidikan barat dengan berfokus pada pemahaman dan penggunaan Bahasa Inggris sebagai keunggulan sekolah. Dipadukan dengan adat ketimuran yang dijabarkan dalam kegiatan pembinaan karakter peserta didik.Kata Kunci: strategi; penguatan pendidikan karakter; berbasis pancasila; sekolah laboratorium.

UPAYA PENINGKATAN MUTU PENDIDIKAN DI SEKOLAH MENENGAH PERTAMA DAN PERMASALAHANNYA

Pendidikan bermutu berperan penting untuk evolusi ekonomi dan pembangunan sosial suatu negara. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggali upaya peningkatan mutu pendidikan di sekolah menengah pertama dan permasalahan yang dihadapi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan strategi multi kasus. Lokasi penelitian yaitu tiga sekolah menengah pertama di Kabupaten Tana Toraja, Sulawesi, Indonesia yang terletak di daerah pinggiran, semi kota dan kota. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan wawancara mendalam semi terstruktur kepada kepala sekolah dan guru. Trianggulasi teknik dengan observasi tidak terstruktur dan member checks dilakukan untuk keabsahan data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ketiga sekolah berupaya meningkatkan mutu pendidikannya. Target mutu yang ingin ditingkatkan atau dicapai berbeda antarsekolah. Namun demikian, mereka menghadapi permasalahan dalam mencapai mutu yang ditargetkan. Permasalahan tersebut meliputi jumlah guru yang belum memadai dan komitmen kerja mereka yang rendah, sekolah pinggiran dan semi kota masih terkendala pada sarana dan prasarana yang belum memadai, dan pendanaan pendidikan yang belum mencukupi di tiap sekolah. Education plays an important role for the economic evolution and social development of a nation. This study aims to explore efforts to improve the quality of education in junior high schools and the problems they faced. This study applied a qualitative approach with a multi-case strategy. The research took place in three junior high schools in Tana Toraja Regency, Sulawesi, Indonesia. They were in different areas which are suburb, semi-city and city. Data collection was carried out by semi-structured in-depth interviews with school principals and teachers. Technical triangulation, which is unstructured observation and member checks, was used to validate the collected data. The results showed that the three schools were trying to improve the quality of their education. The quality targets to be improved or achieved were different between schools. However, they face problems in achieving the targeted quality. These problems include the inadequate number of teachers and their low work commitment, suburban and semi-urban schools that have inadequate facilities and infrastructure, and insufficient educational tests in schools.

Public Relations Management in Efforts to Improve School Image and Community Participation

Schools and communities are living environment that cannot be separated. A school is a place of learning, while the community environment is a place for the implications of the education and teaching process in schools. In this study, the types of case studies are qualitative. Interviews and literary studies, field observations, and documentation were used for data collection techniques in this study. In this study, the analysis coincided with data collection on the ground. The investigator reduces data obtained in the field by analyzing the data, sorting each information by focusing on research, and drawing conclusions in each direction. Triangulation techniques (sources and methods/technics), observations and member checks are applied to check the validity of the data used in this study. From this research, it can be seen that good public relations or public relations in educational institutions are public relations that can implement the goals, visions and missions that have been set in real terms. The concept and mission are not merely a slogan but are used as the basis for carrying out these public relations duties properly. To make it happen, the vision and mission of public relations in educational institutions need to be supported and the active role of various components in the educational institution, both principals, teachers including all members of the school or educational institution. Finally, so that positive public opinion towards an educational institution can be realized, the development of the vision and mission of public relations in educational institutions based on customer satisfaction can be used as a choice for the achievement of the expected goals.

The cognitive load of inpatient consults: A convergent parallel mixed methods study using the consult cognitive load instrument.

11027 Background: Consultation is crucial for inpatient care and a primary responsibility of fellows. Understanding the cognitive load associated with the complex skill of consultation would enhance fellow learning. The authors aimed to determine themes describing the fellow experience during consults, align these themes with Consult Cognitive Load (CCL) scores, and identify strategies to manage cognitive load. Methods: The authors studied 16 fellows using mixed methods. Fellows who accepted an invitation completed a consult followed by the CCL, a measure of cognitive load during consults, and an interview. Three authors conducted a thematic analysis. Member checks and triangulation with fellows supported theme trustworthiness. Subsequently, three authors rated the extent and cognitive demand of each theme expressed in each transcript. The authors measured interrater reliability and used Spearman correlation to describe the association of these ratings with CCL scores. The authors examined themes to identify strategies that educators might use. Results: Analysis revealed four themes: “nature and scope,” which conceptually aligned with intrinsic cognitive load (IL); “leveraging resources,” which had elements of both IL and extraneous cognitive load (EL); “extraneous factors,” which aligned with EL; and “drivers,” which aligned with germane cognitive load (GL). Interrater reliability for extent and demand ratings ranged from 0.57 to 0.79. The correlation between “nature and scope” and IL was 0.37, “extraneous factors” and EL 0.71, and “drivers” and GL 0.32. “Leveraging resources” did not correlate with IL (0.06) or EL (-0.09). Potential strategies based on themes included offering level-appropriate assistance to match IL, focusing the fellow’s attention to reduce EL, and providing succinct teaching to promote GL. Conclusions: This study provided deep insight into the fellow consult experience and suggested trustworthy strategies that educators can use to design and guide consult learning. The theme “leveraging resources” merits further exploration.
