The Impact on Literacy Instruction Using a Technology Platform

Preservice teachers live in a unique world today with the blending of traditional instructional materials for literacy and a variety of high-tech learning technologies present in every 21st century classroom. In the current landscape, teachers are required to learn a variety of technology programs, to know their benefits, and to seamlessly implement them alongside the many pedagogies for maintaining a classroom. This includes teaching a variety of learning strategies and balancing blended online vs. in-person classrooms. This heavy responsibility is compounded by the problem facing many literacy educators today (i.e., how best to instruct within a technology platform and continue to motivate learners to read and to monitor their own use of literacy strategies for comprehension). This chapter outlines a study and subsequent findings of the impact of computer technology for reading strategies instruction with pre-adolescents and its impact for preservice teacher education programs.

Designing a Healthcare Technology Platform Framework for Purpose-Driven Oncology in a Developing Country Healthcare Context (Preprint)

UNSTRUCTURED The rising cases of cancer in India and the unequal care has given rise to large out-of-pocket expenses and late stage of detection of cares, leading to higher mortality rates in many states across rural India. Investing in digital health in resource-constrained countries could provide cancer diagnosis and treatment at affordable costs, improve availability and health outcomes for the citizens. This paper introduces the framework and features of a healthcare technology platform for a developing country to democratise oncology health care services. The framework relies on participatory systems, patient first algorithms and digital health exchange mechanisms. The proposed platform is built on three key pillars of Technology, Managed Healthcare and Advisory, each with a unique value proposition, yet will be complementary, and tries to address specific requirements across the healthcare delivery value chain, thereby, providing a comprehensive solution to the overall problem of the ecosystem. We discuss the application of the framework and usage of curated data and robust workflow and rules engine to enable seamless flow of information across all levels, while bringing close home care to people. We propose that a technology platform, build on a connected care ecosystem, could improve cancer care outcomes in a developing country healthcare context.

Using analog computers in today's largest computational challenges

Analog computers can be revived as a feasible technology platform for low precision, energy efficient and fast computing. We justify this statement by measuring the performance of a modern analog computer and comparing it with that of traditional digital processors. General statements are made about the solution of ordinary and partial differential equations. Computational fluid dynamics are discussed as an example of large scale scientific computing applications. Several models are proposed which demonstrate the benefits of analog and digital-analog hybrid computing.

PENDAMPINGAN PENYUSUNAN LAPORAN KEUANGAN USAHA RINTISAN KEUANGAN DIGITAL TEKNOLOGI ASURANSI SYARIAH YUKTAKAFUL (INSURTECH)

ABSTRAKPeningkatan pengguna internet sekarang ini berdampak pada berkembangnya usaha rintisan (startup) layanan digital yang membuat bisnis ini cukup menjanjikan. Yuktakaful sebagai salah satu startup penyedia layanan platform fintech di bidang keuangan khususnya asuransi terus berkembang menjadi organisasi yang menyediakan portal layanan digital asuransi (insurtech) berbasis web dan aplikasi mobile dengan berpegang pada prinsip Syariah. Namun, sebagai usaha yang baru berdiri tahun 2019 Yuktakaful memiliki kendala dalam menyusun laporan keuangan yang baik yang sesuai dengan format OJK. Padahal penyusunan laopran keuangan yang tidak memadai akan menghasilkan laporan keuangan yang tidak akurat. Kegiatan abdimas ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pendampingan kepada Yuktakaful dalam menyusun laporan keuangan yang sesuai dengan format OJK dan mengatasi persoalan keuangan yang terjadi saat ini. Berdasarkan hasil bimbingan dan evaluasi yang telah dilakukan maka kegiatan abdimas pendampingan dalam penyusunan laporan keuangan pada usaha rintisan inovasi keuangan digital ini sangat membawa manfaat yang besar bagi mitra. Mitra mengalami peningkatan tidak hanya dari segi pengetahuan dan pemahaman dalam penyusunan laporan keuangan saja tetapi juga muncul kepercayaan diri menghadapi regulator dan investor. Yuktakaful as one of the startups providing financial technology platform services in the financial sector, especially insurance, continues to develop into an organization that provides web-based insurance digital service portals (insurtech) and mobile applications by adhering to Sharia principles. However, as a business that was just established in 2019, Yuktakaful had problems in compiling good financial reports that suitable with the OJK format. In fact, preparing inadequate financial reports will result in inaccurate financial statements. This abdimas activity aims to provide assistance to Yuktakaful in compiling financial reports in accordance with the OJK format and overcoming current financial problems. Based on the results of the guidance and evaluation that have been carried out, the activities of abdimas mentoring in the preparation of financial reports for this digital financial innovation startup have brought great benefits to partners. Partners have increased not only in terms of knowledge and understanding in the preparation of financial statements but also confidence in facing regulators and investors. Lessons In Customizing Virtual Communities To Meet The Needs Of Older Adults

GetSetUp started as a technology learning platform for older adults. During Covid-19 we realized that many adults not only wanted to learn technology but were eager for lifelong learning opportunities. Our specially designed technology platform offered a safe, welcoming space that fosters growth, learning, and community for older adults over 60,000 Michiganders over 60 joined in just 4 months. Case studies show how older adults can benefit from technology to feel empowered, reduce social isolation, and improve wellbeing through a job or volunteer opportunities and new friendships. Reports highlight this ongoing need for those with limited community, mobility issues, or those looking to diversify their communities. A trusted virtual community helps connect the physical world digitally to assure older adults understand processes like vaccine enrollment procedures. Virtual communities will not replace physical communities but offer research opportunities, reach more remote communities, and allow for collaboration with state and aging networks.
