The motivation of the Chinese post-90s generation for travelling abroad

<p>There is well-documented research on tourism motivation in tourism literature. But till now, there is limited research of tourist motivation on Chinese youth travel group, who is so-called the Chinese post-90s generation. They are unique compared to other generations in China and has gradually been a group that received great public attention. Their thoughts and behaviours are bearing the brand of the Chinese era and also showing the characteristics of the modern Chinese generation. Therefore, this study based on the Chinese social background investigates Chinese youth tourists’ motivation for travelling abroad, focusing on the Chinese post-90s generation. In this study, a questionnaire survey was conducted among Chinese post-90s generation who came from major cities in China and had at least one or more overseas experiences. The research finds that the important motivational factors influencing the Chinese post-90s generation’s overseas travel include: self-development and relationship; novelty; escape and relaxation. Besides, this research finds that social variables which reflect China’s social changes have significant impacts on the Chinese youth tourists’ overseas travel motivation. These findings not only complement the deficiencies of the existing research on the tourist motivation of Chinese travellers but also provide important reference about Chinese youth tourism for tourism marketers and stakeholders who will deal with this potential tourism market.</p>

Tourist motivation and satisfaction of Chinese senior tourists on day trips

<p>Purpose: The study explores the tourist motivation and satisfaction of Chinese senior tourists on day trips. The purpose of this study is to identify the model of tourist motivation and satisfaction for Chinese senior tourist on day trips, thereby filling the theoretical gap in the field of day trips in China. Design: This study proposes a conceptual framework of the tourist motivation and satisfaction for the Chinese senior tourist on day trips based on the literature in the field and analysing the tourism motivation and satisfaction of Chinese senior tourists on day trips by using the quantitative research method of the positivist paradigm. Findings: This study validated some of the previous research results in this field and confirmed most of them. Similar to some research results, this study found the most important push motivation category for Chinese senior tourists on day trips is “knowledge-seeking”, and the most important pull motivation category is “advantages of the scenic spot”. For tourist satisfaction of Chinese senior tourists on day trips, the three most important influencing factors are: “scenic security”, “attractive scenery”, and “service quality of scenic service personnel”. The study also found the demographic characteristics of senior tourists have an impact on tourist motivation and factors affecting tourist satisfaction. For example, fitness is an important reason for people aged 50-55 travel, but it doesn't important to people over 55 years old. Senior people with more knowledge will be more concerned with the needs of intangible cultures. For male seniors, the most important factor affects tourist satisfaction is “attractive scenery”. But for the elderly women, the first important factor affecting tourist satisfaction is “scenic security”. Furthermore, the results identify as tourism motivation becomes higher, the Chinese senior tourists evaluate the tour quality better. Similarly, as the tourism expectation becomes higher, Chinese senior tourists evaluate the tour quality better, which increases tourist satisfaction. Tourist satisfaction affects the future behavioural intention of the Chinese elderly negatively. Meanwhile, the mean value of tourists' future behavioural intention shows that as the tourist satisfaction of the Chinese elderly becomes higher, they tend to recommend to their friends. The lower the tourist satisfaction of the Chinese elderly, the more they tend to complain to their friends. Originality and Value: This study has proved some existing theories about tourist motivation and satisfaction of senior tourists can also be applied to Chinese senior tourists on day trips. The academic contribution of this study is the model of tourist motivation and satisfaction for Chinese senior tourists on day trips that has been identified. This empirical model is a new theory for the Chinese day trips field, which fills the theoretical gap in it and it can be used for many other works. Meanwhile, this study can also help other researchers in other related research work. The study may be able to provide some related materials such as research data etc. The findings of this study will help Chinese tourism practitioners responsible for designing tourism products and providing services. This study can help tourism practitioners to understand more about the needs of senior people participating in tourism activities, thus can design suitable tourism products for the senior people.</p>

Structural Relationships among Strategic Experiential Modules, Motivation, Serious Leisure, Satisfaction and Quality of Life in Bicycle Tourism

It seems that people’s quality of life can be positively influenced through bicycle tourism. Bicycle tourism can be an effective measure to enhance serious leisure, tourism satisfaction, and quality of life. To verify this empirically, a survey was conducted of bicycle tourists who visited Qinghai Lake in China during an international road bike race. The purpose of the present research is to prove the association between latent variables related to bicycle tourism through statistical analysis. For this, hypothetical relationships based on tourism motivation, serious leisure, tourism satisfaction, and quality of life were presented as research models. As a result of empirical analysis, it was analyzed that friends and nature had an effect on serious leisure among the motivation of bicycle tourism. In addition, it was found that the level of serious leisure for bicycle tourism exerted a positive influence on the satisfaction and quality of life. This suggests that bicycle tourism can improve the quality of life during travel to Qinghai lake by bicycle and revealed the crucial role in relationships is serious leisure.

FOOD TOURISM MOTIVATION AND CUSTOMER SATISFACTION ON HIPSTER CAFÉ IN JOHOR BAHRU, MALAYSIA

Hipster Café has developed in accordance with the hipster ideology of the food and beverage industry. Hipster, according to Greif (2016), refers to "rebel consumers" who describe their lifestyle and purchases in ways that vary from the standard. Interrelated with this was the introduction of the hipster concept into the food industry. Food tourism motivation plays an important factor in keeping hipster cafés competitive in the foodservice industry. As a result, this study aims to find out what young people think about the food tourism motivations and customer satisfaction of Hipster Café, as they have been recognized as regular visitors.
