Asset recovery practices in combating money laundering: evidence from FATF mutual evaluation report of FATF member countries of Asia pacific region

Purpose This study aims to understand the member countries’ current asset recovery mechanism based on two elements, namely, confiscation policy and asset recovery management framework. Design/methodology/approach Content analysis was performed on the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Mutual Evaluation Report (MER) of eight countries. Findings The result showed that only a few countries established a centralised asset recovery centre or special task force to manage recovered assets. Research limitations/implications This study is limited to information mentioned in the FATF MER. Practical implications This study highlights the need to have a centralised asset recovery management centre as an initiative to improve the outcome of money laundering investigations. The study findings will benefit regulators to understand further the practical challenges of the asset recovery mechanism for future improvement. Originality/value FATF recommends that each country establish a centralised asset recovery centre and work closely with the investigating officers and prosecutors in deciding on assets confiscation. However, the implementation is contingent on their local environment and resources at the member countries’ discretion. In reporting the disturbances received by the Operations and Maintenance Department (OPHAR), there were still several problems with disturbances from each service unit (UL), namely (ULPTG) Teluk Lembu, (PLTA) Koto Panjang, and (PLTG/MG) Duri, in reporting disturbance, the information provided is not detailed so that the information received is not in accordance with the needs of the operation and selection department, there is no schedule for sending disturbance reports, disturbance reports are past schedule when there is a disturbance and long delivery times, and there is no evaluation report and recommendation report from the unit. services as well as the absence of a chronology of disturbance validation reports. By conducting a gap analysis, we will compare the current conditions with the ideal conditions expected by the OPHAR department regarding the current SOP for reporting disturbances. From the results of the gap analysis, it can be concluded that there are 2 (two) SOP procedures that have gaps because they are not in accordance with the company's EAM standards.

Target Oxbridge Year 10 programme

Target Oxbridge is Rare Recruitment's programme to help students with black African and Caribbean heritage to increase their chances of getting into Cambridge or Oxford Universities. Target Oxbridge and Trinity College, University of Cambridge, launched a unique programme called the Target Oxbridge Year 10 programme to demystify the Universities of Cambridge and Oxford in order to help more 14 and 15 year olds of black heritage prepare to apply to and gain places at these leading universities. The webinars aimed to demystify Oxford and Cambridge Universities, offer insights into what college life is really like, provide information on the application process, and offer guidance on preparing applications. Study on College English Online Teaching Model in Mixed Context Based on Genetic Algorithm and Neural Network Algorithm

College English classroom teaching evaluation is an important basis for understanding teaching level and improving teaching quality. The traditional college English classroom teaching evaluation is mainly carried out through questionnaires and scales, but this method is time-consuming and laborious, inevitably introduces subjective errors, and reduces the accuracy and credibility of the evaluation results. In recent years, the rise and development of wisdom education not only provides a more convenient and efficient modern education form but also brings new ideas for classroom teaching evaluation. A subjective and objective fusion statistical evaluation model based on multidirectional genetic variation method and optimized neural network is proposed. The algorithm avoids subjective errors and improves the accuracy and reliability of the evaluation results, and a comprehensive evaluation model is constructed. Finally, according to different evaluation indexes, a systematic visualization scheme is designed to generate students’ classroom learning evaluation report and teachers' classroom teaching evaluation report, respectively, and visualize them on the web.
