The study looked at the use of internal business process metrics within the performance assessment framework of the Nepalese telecom industry. It employed a descriptive study approach and an organized questionnaire survey instrument. The population of this study included all of Nepal’s telecom operators and their employees. The sample organizations from which random sampling techniques obtained the responses of 318 employees were Nepal Telecom and Ncell. The employees who hold at least offers and above positions at their company were the targeted respondents of the study. Three parts of the survey questionnaire were set up with 27 questions of different types to gather data. SPSS (statistical package for social sciences) program was employed to process and analyze the data. Sixteen measuring variables within four constructs were examined to assess the IBPP (internal business process performance). Three of these constructs: operations management (β = 0.229, p < 0.01), customer management (β = 0.380, p < 0.01), and regulatory and social processes (β = 0.175, p < 0.01) were found to have a statistically significant and favorable impact on the IBPP while innovation processes (β = 0.024, p > 0.05) was not properly applied and understood in the Nepalese telecom industry. The findings of this study will help identify the primary drivers of performance metrics and their relevance in organizational performance for the Nepalese telecom industry.

Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) is an information system which integrates business functions and processes. ERP systems are widely used in different commercial organizations and industries. For a number of reasons, ERP can be the cause of success in an organization and help improve individual’s performance in an organization by supporting better decision making. It is especially useful in helping an organization improve its productivity, reduce its operational cost and improve quality by efficient use of resources and effective communication. ERP implementation strategy greatly influences an industry‘s business process performance and can help lower organizational resistance to it. It also plays a vital role for business process performance because there is a passionate reaction to ERP that is a characteristic response to change connected with new innovation in an organization. This work is conducted to evaluate the ERP implementation and its influence on enterprise infrastructure, especially how the business performance is improved. The method used in this study is survey based, using interviews from more than 100 experts from different organizations in Karachi, Pakistan. The results show significant role of ERP system in raising business process performance of the organizations. Overall, ERP system impacts heavily an industry in terms of business process performance and also helps improve individual performance, considering how organizational resistance is managed using various strategies and communicating well.

PurposeThe purpose of this article is to identify how the organisations are able to improve their business value through acquisition of business analytics capabilities and by improving their performance.Design/methodology/approachWith the help of literature survey, along with standard resource-based view framework, a conceptual model has been developed. These have been statistically tested by collecting the data using the survey questionnaire from 306 selected respondents from various service sector- and product-based organisations in India. To analyse the data we have used partial least square–based structural equation modelling.FindingsThe study highlights that by the help of data acquisition and tool acquisition as two vital components the acquisition of business analytics capabilities could improve the business value of the organisation by strengthening its organisational performance. The findings of this research also indicated that acquisition of business analytics capabilities has a significant influence on an organisation's business process performance and business decision, which in turn significantly influences organisational performance. And organisational performance eventually positively influences its business value. The model was found to provide an explanative power of 71%.Research limitations/implicationsThe proposed research model can provide effective recommendations to the management of the organisations to realise the importance of acquisition of effective business analytics capabilities to eventually improve the business value of the organisation.Originality/valueNo specific studies, as yet, have analysed the effects of acquisition of business analytics capabilities for improving organisational performance mediated through business process performance and business decision. Therefore, this research has explored the distinctive effort to empirically validate this understanding.

The purpose of this paper is to apply the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) concept to the sustainable performance evaluation of emerging family farms in Jilin, China. A sustainable performance evaluation system was constructed based on the BSC. A questionnaire survey was used with a sample of 156 emerging family farms involved in the production of planting (grain, horticultural crops) and breeding (animal products) enterprises in Jilin, China. The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP)-Fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation method (FCE) was used for the sustainable performance evaluation by different BSC dimensions, farm types, and regions. This empirical study revealed that the BSC is applicable for the farm sustainable performance evaluation in the Chinese context. The key is selecting suitable indicators for the evaluation index system while considering the particularity of market, resources, management, and personnel. The sustainable performance of the investigated family farms is in the slightly above moderate level as a whole. Financial performance and market performance are above moderate, while internal business process performance is moderate, and learning and growth performance is below moderate. They are facing difficult challenges to upgrade in terms of marketing and financing channels, branding, and organic production. Industrial differences existed in the farms’ sustainable performance. Farms combining planting and breeding have better sustainability, which could be a signal for transformation of the traditional single planting or breeding modes in China. The internal business process performance of grain farms is significantly less, due possibly to long-term policy support and protection with less of an emphasis on ecological outcomes. Subtle regional differences in the overall sustainable performance of surveyed family farms suggest that farm performance depends more on management than on external environment.
