Analisis Kestabilan Model Penyebaran Penyakit Tungro Pada Tanaman Padi Melalui Vektor Wereng Hijau (Nephotetix Virescens)

ABSTRACT Tungro is a disease of rice plant (Oryza sativa) caused by tungro rice plant virus called Rice Tungro Baciliform Virus (RTBV) and Rice Tungro Spherical Virus (RTSV). Those viruses are transmitted by green planthopper vector (Nephotettix virescens). Rice tungro virus, that attack at vegetative phase, could make the rice plant tiny. This research governs a tungro transmission model that consider the rate of growth, natural mortality and virus infection as parameters. The interaction between green planthopper vector and spider as the predator of it is also considered. The other one is the probability of successes contacts between the green planthopper vectors with the susceptible rice population and tungro infected rice. The model, that modified from Susceptible-Infected model, has two critical endemic points of, and The stability of both points are analyzed using linearity and Routh hurwitz criteria. To reach their stability, the first critical point requires the values of natural death of green planthopper vector that must bigger than natural death of rice plant and the second critical point requires the natural growth rate of the spider predator must smaller than its natural death. Infection with an asymptomatic virus in rice results in a delayed drought response

Infection of viruses in plants often modifies plant responses to biotic and abiotic stresses. In the present study we examined the effects of Rice tungro spherical virus (RTSV) infection on drought response in rice. RTSV infection delayed the onset of leaf rolling by 1–2 days. During the delay in drought response, plants infected with RTSV showed higher stomatal conductance and less negative leaf water potential under drought than those of uninfected plants, indicating that RTSV-infected leaves were more hydrated. Other growth and physiological traits of plants under drought were not altered by infection with RTSV. An expression analysis of genes for drought response-related transcription factors showed that the expression of OsNAC6 and OsDREB2a was less activated by drought in RTSV-infected plants than in uninfected plants, further suggesting improved water status of the plants due to RTSV infection. RTSV accumulated more in plants under drought than in well-watered plants, indicating the increased susceptibility of rice plants to RTSV infection by drought. Collectively, these results indicated that infection with RTSV can transiently mitigate the influence of drought stress on rice plants by increasing leaf hydration, while drought increased the susceptibility of rice plants to RTSV.

PENGARUH APLIKASI PUPUK SILIKA DALAM PENGENDALIAN TUNGRO

Tungro adalah salah satu penyakit penting pada padi, yang disebabkan oleh dua jenis virus, yaitu Rice Tungro Bacilliform Virus (RTBV) dan Rice Tungro Spherical Virus (RTSV), melalui vektor wereng hijau (Nephotetic virescens). Tingginya intensitas pertanaman menyebabkan keseimbangan unsur hara semakin berkurang, termasuk unsur silika (Si). Pemberian pupuk silika dengan dosis yang tepat dapat meningkatkan kesuburan tanah dan menyebabkan tanaman lebih tahan terhadap serangan hama penyakit. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengkaji pengaruh pemberian pupuk silika dalam pengendalian penyakit tungro. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan faktorial dua faktor. faktor pertama yaitu dosis pemberian pupuk silika (kontrol, NPK dosis umum digunakan petani, 1/3 NPK + 1 lt si, 1/3 NPK + 3 lt si, 1/3 NPK + 5 lt si), faktor kedua adalah penggunaaan varietas (inpari 36 dan TN1). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa interaksi pemberian dosis pupuk silika dan varietas tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap semua parameter pengamatan, kecuali pada hasil gabah. Varietas berpengaruh nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman, panjang malai, dan hasil gabah.

Variasi Genetik Rice tungro bacilliform virus (RTBV) dari Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta, Nusa Tenggara Barat, dan Sulawesi Tengah

<p>Tungro merupakan salah satu penyakit penting pada padi yang menjadi kendala dalam peningkatan produksi padi di Indonesia. Penyakit ini disebabkan oleh infeksi dua virus yang berbeda secara serologis, yaitu Rice tungro bacilliform virus (RTBV) dan Rice tungro spherical virus (RTSV) yang hanya dapat ditularkan oleh wereng hijau, terutama Nephotettix virescens (Distant) secara semipersisten. Informasi keragaman genetik virus tungro diperlukan sebagai pertimbangan dalam pengendalian penyakit tungro menggunakan varietas tahan. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi keragaman genetik RTBV dari tiga daerah endemis virus tungro di Indonesia berdasarkan sekuen basa nukleotida dan asam amino pada open reading frame 2 (ORF2). Isolat RTBV dikoleksi di Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta, Nusa Tenggara Barat, dan Sulawesi Tengah dengan cara penularan virus tungro secara buatan pada bibit padi varietas TN1 menggunakan wereng hijau hasil tangkapan dari lapangan. Analisis homologi sebagian sekuen DNA ORF2 RTBV menunjukkan bahwa ketiga isolat memiliki variasi kesamaan basa nukleotida dan asam amino, berturut-turut 94-98% dan 97-100%. Ketiga isolat berbeda jauh dengan isolat dari negara lain dengan tingkat kesamaan genetik 77-95% berdasarkan sekuen basa nukleotida dan 82-98% berdasarkan sekuen asam amino. Keragaman dan hubungan kekerabatan genetik ketiga isolat RTBV tidak berkorelasi dengan perbedaan geografis asal isolat. Adanya keragaman genetik antarisolat RTBV mengindikasikan bahwa berbagai strategi penggunaan varietas tahan perlu dilaksanakan untuk menjaga durabilitas ketahanan padi.</p>
