Application of Project Management in the Agro-industrial Complex

The article is devoted to the analysis of the distinctive features of the design approach and the study of the optimal use of such at the enterprises of the agro-industrial complex. The structure of the agro-industrial complex has been studied. An approach is considered that allows agro-industrial complex organizations to build a clear positioning of their activities, to obtain the desired level of profit, highlighting their products from similar competitors’ proposals.

Complex System Governance as a Framework for Asset Management

Complex system governance (CSG) is an emerging field encompassing a framework for system performance improvement through the purposeful design, execution, and evolution of essential metasystem functions. The goal of this study was to understand how the domain of asset management (AsM) can leverage the capabilities of CSG. AsM emerged from engineering as a structured approach to organizing complex organizations to realize the value of assets while balancing performance, risks, costs, and other opportunities. However, there remains a scarcity of literature discussing the potential relationship between AsM and CSG. To initiate the closure of this gap, this research reviews the basics of AsM and the methods associated with realizing the value of assets. Then, the basics of CSG are provided along with how CSG might be leveraged to support AsM. We conclude the research with the implications for AsM and suggested future research.

Improving the legal mechanism for regulating the economic interaction of agro-industrial complex organizations in the aspect of the design-digital approach

The authors consider the system of legal regulation and implementation of project management and digital transformation of economic interaction of organizations in the agricultural sector. On the basis of previously obtained studies aimed at studying the current regulatory framework and identifying the influence of legal norms on the economic relations of the agro-industrial complex organization, the authors highlighted modern problems of legal support for the economic interaction of agro-industrial complex organizations in the context of the design-digital approach. The authors also formulated practical proposals aimed at overcoming these problems and improving the institutional environment for the implementation of the design-digital approach. These proposals were discussed and tested within the framework of a number of scientific and practical conferences and practical seminars of heads and specialists of agro-industrial complex organizations.

METHODOLOGICAL FEATURES OF THE COLLECTIVE-SYNERGETIC APPROACH TO THE NATURE OF LEADERSHIP

The article examines the main methods for leadership management based on a collective-synergetic approach to understanding leadership. The features of leadership in complex organizations having a multi-level hierarchy are highlighted. The possibility of using “smart” technologies to analyze and monitor the leadership status in the organization is considered. Conclusions are drawn about the possibility of automating this process.

Failures of Complex Organizations

This chapter addresses failures in the photography market (Kodak and Polaroid), computer market (Digital and Xerox), and communications market (Motorola and Nokia). Multi-level analyses are used to provide comparisons across case studies. It briefly reviews how these types of companies anticipate and manage failures. The notion of “creative destruction” is elaborated. These insights are used to foreshadow later discussions of failure management.

Fuzzy clustering of homogeneous decision making units with common weights in data envelopment analysis

Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is the most popular mathematical approach to assess efficiency of decision-making units (DMUs). In complex organizations, DMUs face a heterogeneous condition regarding environmental factors which affect their efficiencies. When there are a large number of objects, non-homogeneity of DMUs significantly influences their efficiency scores that leads to unfair ranking of DMUs. The aim of this study is to deal with non-homogeneous DMUs by implementing a clustering technique for further efficiency analysis. This paper proposes a common set of weights (CSW) model with ideal point method to develop an identical weight vector for all DMUs. This study proposes a framework to measuring efficiency of complex organizations, such as banks, that have several operational styles or various objectives. The proposed framework helps managers and decision makers (1) to identify environmental components influencing the efficiency of DMUs, (2) to use a fuzzy equivalence relation approach proposed here to cluster the DMUs to homogenized groups, (3) to produce a common set of weights (CSWs) for all DMUs with the model developed here that considers fuzzy data within each cluster, and finally (4) to calculate the efficiency score and overall ranking of DMUs within each cluster.
