Automatic Behavior and Posture Detection of Sows in Loose Farrowing Pens Based on 2D-Video Images

The monitoring of farm animals and the automatic recognition of deviant behavior have recently become increasingly important in farm animal science research and in practical agriculture. The aim of this study was to develop an approach to automatically predict behavior and posture of sows by using a 2D image-based deep neural network (DNN) for the detection and localization of relevant sow and pen features, followed by a hierarchical conditional statement based on human expert knowledge for behavior/posture classification. The automatic detection of sow body parts and pen equipment was trained using an object detection algorithm (YOLO V3). The algorithm achieved an Average Precision (AP) of 0.97 (straw rack), 0.97 (head), 0.95 (feeding trough), 0.86 (jute bag), 0.78 (tail), 0.75 (legs) and 0.66 (teats). The conditional statement, which classifies and automatically generates a posture or behavior of the sow under consideration of context, temporal and geometric values of the detected features, classified 59.6% of the postures (lying lateral, lying ventral, standing, sitting) and behaviors (interaction with pen equipment) correctly. In conclusion, the results indicate the potential of DNN toward automatic behavior classification from 2D videos as potential basis for an automatic farrowing monitoring system.

‘If they Will Enter my Rest’: The Impact of the Greek Translation Technique of Psalm 95 for the Argument of Hebrews 3 and 4

Hebrews 4.3-5 introduces tension where the author cites Ps. 95.11b, ‘they will never enter into my rest’, then describes the available rest, and then quotes Ps. 95.11b again. The author appears to undercut the promise of rest by citing the prohibitive oath. This article argues that the tension in Heb. 4.3-5 can be dissolved by translating Ps. 95.11b not as an emphatic negative oath (‘they will never enter into my rest’) but as an open-ended conditional statement (‘if they will enter into my rest’). This is argued in the following way: first, the issue of an assumed Hebraism is explained. Second, three problems with the Hebraism solution are presented. Third, the Interlinear Paradigm of the New English Translation of the Septuagint (NETS) is introduced resulting in two further criticisms of the Hebraism translation. Last, the author’s argument in Heb. 4.3-5 is read with the meaning of the open-ended conditional.

An Evaluation of the Supposed Hebraism in Mark 8.12

This article focuses on the final six words in the Greek text of Mark 8.12: εἰ δοθήσεται τῇ γενεᾷ ταύτῃ σημεῖον. This partial conditional statement is typically translated as an emphatic negative oath based on the belief that a Hebraism is in use. For example, NRSV translates this part of the verse as, “no sign will be given to this generation,” instead of formally as a straightforward conditional. The thesis of this article is that Mark 8.12 should not be translated as an emphatic negative oath because no Hebraism is in use; instead, Jesus’ words should be translated according to the figure of speech known as aposiopesis: “if a sign will be given to this generation . . .”

COMPOUND PROPOSITIONAL LAW FOR LOGICAL EQUIVALENCE, TAUTOLOGY AND CONTRADICTION

The proposed Law is developed with the help of negation, disjunction, conjunction, exclusive or, conditional statement and bi-conditional statement. The idea of research is taken from de-Morgan law. This proposed law is important and useful for Logical Equivalence, Tautology and Contradiction for the research purpose because these are the rare cases in the field of research. This article aims to help readers understand the compound proposition and proposition equivalence in conducting research. This article discusses propositions that are relevant for proposition equivalence. Six main compound propositions are distinguished and an overview is given in the article. Hence, it is observed from the result and discussion that the compound proposition law is a good achievement in discrete structure for the logical Equivalence, Tautology and Contradiction purpose.

Bit Manipulation: Conditional Statement using Bit-wise operators with C++

All of information that manipulated by a computer is represented in the form of bits, so in the programming language it is necessary to understand bitwise operations at the first. This paper aims to create a concept of making Conditional Statements with Bitwise operators in C ++. By doing so, we hope that people is easy to understand the operation behind conditional statements. A conditional operator is also known as a ternary operator. It takes three operands. A conditional operator is closely related with if else statement. The method used is a literature study studying the bit manipulation algorithm in the C ++ language. The results obtained are a function using bitwise operations in C ++ that implement conditional statements.

Towards a New Proposal for Translating the Conjunction כי‎ in Deuteronomy 4.29

English translations almost universally understand the phrase כי תדרשׁנו בכל־לבבך ובכל־נפשׁך‎ in Deut 4.29 as a conditional statement: “if you seek him with all your heart and all your soul.” This article challenges the typical translation and argues that instead of expressing a condition, Deut 4.29 should be understood as the reason Israel will repent and turn to Yahweh. This argument is supported by the near context of Deut 4, as well as the remote context of Deut 29–30. In addition, the typical usage of כי‎ clauses in Hebrew grammar provides positive evidence for a causal understanding of Deut 4.29. In addition to the contextual and grammatical evidence, the LXX of Deut 4.29 and Jer 29.11 (36.13 LXX) demonstrates that the first translators of the text likely did not view this text as conditional. Thus, Deut 4.29 is best read as the reason for Israel’s latter-day return to Yahweh—Israel will find Yahweh because they will seek him with their whole heart.

Everybody’s life is an improvisation, but for people who work daily with teaching and performing movement improvisation there is a heightened awareness of how this practice structures one’s life. This chapter discusses how work in improvisation has influenced three main areas of the author’s life: her movement practice and teaching, her intellectual trajectory, and her relationship to her family. In this context, improvisation can best be thought of as an approach rather than a subject; a method of inquiry rather than an academic discipline—no matter how cutting-edge. Indeed, this chapter proposes that instead of asking ‘what is improvisation?’ one might ask ‘what if improvisation?’ Implicated in this conditional statement is a practice of dwelling in possibility that can be both personally useful and politically profound.

A note on the distortion theorem

The distortion theorem is a conditional statement that establishes the certain relations between the variation of the mean bond length and the variation of the valence of a central ion of a coordination polyhedron.
