Giant Cell Myocarditis Following COVID-19 Successfully Treated by Immunosuppressive Therapy

In this case report, we present a 46-year-old lady who has developed a rapidly progressive heart failure after an episode of COVID-19. The pathologic examination of her endomyocardial biopsy specimens was compatible with GCM and she was successfully treated with a combined immunosuppressive therapy regimen.

A Case of Buccal Pilomatricoma Removed Through Intraoral Incision

Pilomatricoma(or calcifying epithelioma) is a not common benign solitary tumor originated from outer root sheath cell of hair follicle or hair follicle of sebaceous glands. The tumor usually presents as an asymptomatic, hard, superficial located, and skin colored to reddish blue cutaneous mass. Most of the tumors are less than 10mm in diameter and adherent to the skin. Recently, 48-year-old man presented with cheek mass. The tumor was 2.6cm sized and located at the subcutaneous layer of cheek on CT scan. The tumor was clearly removed via transoral approach with buccal incision leaving no wound on face. The mass was confirmed as pilomatricoma on pathologic examination. Herein, we report our experience with literature review.

Is orchiectomy avoidable in testicular tuberculosis mimicking malignancy? A case report

Background Isolated testicular tuberculosis (TB) is extremely uncommon. It has non-specific presentation; thus, diagnosis is challenging and is often discovered on pathology examination after orchiectomy. Case presentation We report herein the case of a 73-year-old male, with no significant medical or family history, who presented with left scrotal swelling, physical examination revealed a left testicular firm mass measuring 3 cm and ultrasound was suggestive of testicular tumor. Left inguinal orchiectomy was performed and the pathologic examination revealed testicular TB. The presentation was typically mimicking a testicular cancer with no evocative evidence of TB; this can lead to a dilemma and highlights the need to consider TB in differential diagnosis of testicular tumor, especially in areas endemic for the disease. Conclusions The aim of our presentation is to argue if orchiectomy was avoidable. It also illustrates the probable hematogenous or lymphatic spread of Mtb to the testicle.

Giant pleomorphic adenoma of the parotid gland: a case report

Pleomorphic adenomas account for the majority of parotid masses, typically arising in the tail of the gland and enlarging slowly. Most are 2 to 6 cm in size when resected. We report the resection of a benign mixed tumour of the left parotid gland with a history of bleeding. The resected tumour measured 21 cm in diameter, weighed 1.81 kg, and on pathologic examination was a benign mixed tumour without malignant degeneration. The implications of this unusual case for the management of mixed tumours are discussed with a review of the literature.

Placental Thrombus After Maternal COVID-19 Infection: A Case Study

A 34-year-old patient developed an area of thrombus within her placenta. This resulted in severe fetal growth restriction which physicians felt was due to contracting and recovering from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), during her pregnancy. Serial sonograms demonstrated a slowing of fetal growth and an area of thrombosis within the placenta. This was confirmed by pathologic examination of the placenta after delivery. Since COVID-19 and pregnancy are both known hypercoagulable states, it is vital for the ultrasonographer to recognize thrombosis in the placenta. It is also important to understand the possible pregnancy outcomes, based on the location and appearance of a nonvascular placental lesion.

Polypoid Endometriosis of Cervix: A Case Report

Polypoid endometriosis is an uncommon and distinctive variant of endometriosis with histologic features simulating those of an endometrial polyp which is found most often in the colon and ovary. The cervix is an infrequent site for polypoid endometriosis. We report a 40-year-old female presented with irregular bleeding and on examination detected to have an endocervical polyp. She underwent polypectomy and histopathological examination suggested polypoid endometriosis. She remained asymptomatic during two years of follow-up.Polypoid endometriosis is a variant of endometriosis that may be mistaken for a neoplasm on clinical and pathologic examination. There is often a delay in diagnosis resulting in unnecessary suffering and reduced quality of life. Though a rare entity, it should be considered in the differential diagnosis of all cervical polyp.

Sonography of Primary Cervical Neuroblastoma in the Infant

A palpable neck mass in a newborn or young child is overwhelmingly benign but can require additional evaluation to exclude the rare malignant etiology. We present a 10-month-old female with a non-tender, non-erythematous firm nodule in the left neck initially suspected to be enlarged lymph nodes. Sonographic imaging was concerning for a diagnosis of neuroblastoma confirmed by surgical resection and pathologic examination. The sonographic characteristics associated with neuroblastoma are important to recognize to accurately diagnose the neoplasm and improve patient management.
