The influence of liquid rubber on selected properties of rubber compound and its vulcanizates

The aim of the work was to determine the influence of liquid rubber on selected properties of rubber compound and its vulcanizates. Due to the liquid form of this rubber, it is not possible to completely replace the conventional solid rubber used in the mixture because of problems in further processing. In four experimental tests, we used different amounts of liquid rubber in the recipe together with butadiene-styrene rubber and the compounds we mixed according to the general conditions. We studied the curing characteristics of prepared mixture and we measuremend physical and mechanical properties of study vulcanizates and summarized the individual measured values for each parameter and suggested the greatest importance of the recipe for rubber practice.

COMPARISON OF THE PROPERTIES OF TREAD RUBBER FOR WHOLE WITH METAL CORD HEAVY-DUTY TIRES BASED ON NR AND ON SYNTHETIC POLYISOPRENE SKI-3 OF VARIOUS BRANDS

Technological properties of rubber compounds as well as viscous-elastic and strength properties of the tread rubber for heavy-duty tires whole with metal cord (MCT), based on blends of natural (NR) or synthetic polyisoprene of various trade marks (more than 80 %) and polybutadiene (more than 10 %) were studied. The new processing aid (PA), worked out in LLC «NPP QUALITET» under registered trade mark KVALISTROL® A100, was suggested instead of importing analogous of PA Polyplastol 6 type. It was established that replacement of NR in MCT formulation by the SKI-3S rubber produced with the use of a new anti-agglomerator of a crumb of KVANTISLIP® of the BM-2R, PA A100 brand, increased dosage of sulfur-accelerated group and the corrected dosage of the vulcanization inhibiter Santogard PVI and together with the worked out mixing mode at a stage of production of masterbatch allows to receive rubber compound close to reference on the basis of the NR on viscosity. At the same time the new rubber compound's strength and elastic properties practically don't differ, and in the lowered values of a hysteresis, surpass reference rubber compound with NR use.

Effect Of Liquid Rubbers On The Thermal And Adhesion Properties Of The Tire Skim Compound

Polymeric textile cords, steel cords and steel cables are mainly reinforcing materials that are used in tire production. Polymeric textile cords such as Polyester (PEs), Nylon, Aramid and Rayon are commonly treated with bi-functional resorcinol formaldehyde latex (RFL) to obtain desired adhesion to rubber matrix. PEs cords are known as their poor adhesion to both RFL and rubber compounds due to limited reactivity on the surface and poor reaction extent between methylol and hydroxyl groups of RFL. Increasing carboxyl content on PEs surface or in the rubber compound is one of the best strategies to overcome this adhesion problem. Liquid rubbers, which can co-vulcanize with solid rubbers, are also strong alternatives of process oils with their excellent plasticizing effect without deterioration in mechanical properties of the resulting material. Co-vulcanization also improves the stability of this additive and prevents possible bleeding and migration during service life of the tire. In this study, carboxylated grafted liquid isoprene rubber has been incorporated to rubber compound to improve adhesion in PEs-RFL-Rubber ternary system. Rheological and dynamic-mechanical properties of reactive liquid rubber containing tire rubber compounds have been evaluated extensively, as well as H-adhesion behaviour of PEs cord-rubber composite matrix.

The Influence of Cork and Manufacturing Parameters on the Properties of Cork–Rubber Composites for Vibration Isolation Applications

The addition of cork to a natural rubber compound and the vulcanization parameters were studied in terms of their influence on the properties of cork–rubber materials. The characterization of different compounds was carried out and included in the determination of mechanical properties related to the application of cork–rubber composites as vibration isolation pads, such as static and dynamic behavior under compressive loading. Statistical methods, such as ANOVA and regression analysis, were used in this study. The results showed that the introduction of cork as an additional filler in the studied rubber compound increased its hardness and static stiffness, while maintaining a similar dynamic behavior to the base rubber compound when subjected to compressive loading. In addition, it was found that increasing the amount and granulometry of cork and lower vulcanization temperatures resulted in stiffer vulcanizates. Materials with higher cork granule contents were found to be affected in their final properties by molding pressure. A study involving the use of linear regression models as a tool to predict or optimize properties related to vibration isolation applications was also developed.
