Vacuum is essential in particle accelerators. Low gas density allows charged particles beams to circulate without excessive losses. Indeed, beam losses are detrimental for instrumentation; they increase induced radioactivity, background noise in particle detectors, and beam-induced heat loads to cryogenic equipment.

The liquidized natural gas (LPG) as well as other liquidized gases, as oxygen, nitrogen, ethylene etc. are widely used in the today’s world economy. A perspective of LPG and liquidized gases application presented, foreign and domestic experience in production of materials, used for manufacturing tanks and reservoirs, intended for storing and transporting of LPG, considered. Influence of chemical composition of cryogenic steels on resistivity to fragile destruction at negative temperatures studied. Influence of various alloying elements, including nickel, manganese, chrome, molybdenum and other elements on operating properties of cryogenic steels were also studied. Specialists of JSC “Ural Steel” together with scientists of JSC “NPO “CNIITMASH” elaborated a comprehensive technology of industrial production of plates of cryogenic steels. Based on literature data, domestic practice of designing and manufacturing cryogenic equipment, specifications of the required application plates were elaborated and approved. The rolling of plates of wide range of thickness of pilot heat 0H6 steel was carried out. At present, the thermal treatment modes of the 0H6 steel rolled products are being adjusted.

The state of the issue of the relevance and efficiency of the technology of using liquefied natural gas as a partial replacement of diesel fuel in mining vehicles is considered. It is argued that this technology does not require complex and time-consuming re-engineering of internal com- bustion engines, which makes it economically feasible. It is noted that liq- uefied natural gas seems to be the most promising alternative to petroleum motor fuels in heavy-duty mining dump trucks. The use of liquefied natu- ral gas as a motor fuel reduces the environmental burden; increases the energy efficiency of the rock mass hauling process and reduces fuel costs. It is said that developments aimed at substantiating and choosing design and layout solutions for the placement and arrangement of cryogenic equipment on mining vehicles are relevant. The new method for installing cryogenic fuel tanks on the deck of the BelAZ 7513 series mining dump truck with a payload capacity of 130 tons is described in detail. Layout so- lutions for the modernization of the deck of the BelAZ 7513 series dump truck allowing placing additional cryogenic equipment on its board are presented. The data presented indicate that the successful implementation of the proposed method is confirmed by the project on equipping the BelAZ 75131 mining dump truck with cryogenic onboard fuel systems, implemented in practice.

The results of work on the organization of a system for checking the tightness and strength of connections of components of gas-cylinder cars when using liquefied natural gas are summarized. A system for checking the tightness and conducting pressure testing of gas equipment in the conditions of the operating regulations is presented. The features of the technological process of inspection of cryogenic cylinders are summarized. Features of the test method for gas equipment components are described. The system of re-equipment of the HBA when working on LNG is considered. Test methods for LNG certification are summarized. Methods for monitoring and testing the production of LNG components are presented. Keywords liquefied natural gas; cryogenic equipment; test and operating pressure; component testing; inspection; cold and thermal crimping; cylinder insulation; LNG parameters; heat exchanger-evaporator testing
