EOQ Development Model in Optimize Raw Material Inventory

The purpose of this study was to determine the amount of safety inventory, order frequency, minimum inventory, maximum inventory limit, total Melon product inventory costs needed by PT. Rajawali Asia Bali uses the EOQ method. Data analyzed using the EOQ method shows that PT. Rajawali Asia Bali safety stock, it is very necessary to support the smooth distribution process that takes place. In accordance with the calculations with the formula, there is a safety stock that must be provided by PT. Rajawali Asia Bali is equal to 7,201 boxes. Planning for Sweet Corn products at PT. Rajawali Asia Bali using the EOQ method has 48.069 boxes.

Innovative Application of Phytochemicals from Fermented Legumes and Spices/Herbs Added in Extruded Snacks

A trend related to adding legume seeds to various products has been observed. This work aimed to use fermented red bean/broad bean seeds and their hulls to produce extruded snacks with more beneficial nutritional properties and good sensory quality. Extruded snacks containing fermented ground seeds (50%) or hull (10%) of red bean/broad bean and corn grits with the addition of selected herbs/spices (0.5%) were prepared. The chemical composition, phenolic profile, antioxidant activity, and sensory quality were analysed. The results showed that the protein content ranged from 9 to 22.9 g 100 g−1, phenolic compounds ranged from 3.97 to 12.80 mg 100 g−1 (with the addition of herbs/spices, even up to 62.88 mg 100 g−1), and antioxidant activities ranged from 4.32 to 10.23 Trolox g−1 (ABTS assay), depending on the type of fermented materials. The addition of ground seeds/hull did not influence the consumer desirability, whereas the addition of selected herbs/spices, particularly lovage, increased it. The application of fermented red bean and broad bean seeds and their hulls, as part of the assumptions of the planetary diet, enabled enrichment of extruded corn products, which are often consumed by vegans and vegetarians, with nutritionally valuable ingredients.

Perencanaan Persediaan Bahan Baku pada UMK Tiga Bersaudara Kota Kupang dengan Metode Economic Order Quantity (EOQ)

Abstract Purpose: This research is a form of raw material inventory planning using the Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) method for fried corn products at UMK Tiga Bersaudara Kupang City. Research Methodology: This research method used a quantitative approach. The data analysis technique used is forecasting, EOQ, and Safety Stock. Results: The outcome of this study is the creation of a raw material inventory that can be applied by the UMK Tiga Bersaudara in carrying out its production. The number of orders for raw materials has also been identified using the EOQ method. To avoid shortages of raw materials, a calculation of how much safety stock is needed in the next period has also been calculated. Limitation: This calculation is predictive so that the reality in the field can change in the future. Contribution: Companies are advised to plan raw material inventory using the methods used in this study, namely forecasting, EOQ, SS, and calculating the total cost of inventory.

ALTERNATIVE CORN PROCESSING FOR AUR SERUMPUN FARMER GROUP IN SIMPANG VILLAGE, PASAMAN DISTRICT, WEST SUMATERA PROVINCE

Background: This activity was carried out in order to transfer corn processing technology to become a food product that could increase food product diversification in in Simpang village, Pasaman District, West Sumatera Province. Methodology: Tortilla chips as a derivative of corn were introduced through oral presentations and group discussion forums by the representative team from Andalas University together with “Aur Serumpun” Farmer groups at Simpang village, Pasaman District, West Sumatera Province. Conclusion: Information about corn processing into tortilla chips could be an alternative to multiple the types of products that can be produced by the farmer groups “Aur Serumpun”. Recently, they only produce one type of product, namely raw corn products which are directly sold to the animal feed industry. Although farmers were not very enthusiastic, continuous communication with farmers will increase their awareness of diversifying maize products that can support their economy in the future.

Application of Postharvest management of Corn to Support Integrated Farming System

Corn is a superior crop and its production centers are in the Grobogan and Pati Regency, Central Java Province, Indonesia. This plant is partly cultivated in farm fields and forest land owned by Purwodadi Forest Control Area (in Indonesia known as 'Kawasan Penguasaan Hutan – KPH) as an intercrop during re-planting of tropical hardwood, namely teak. Corn has become one of the significant side hustles for most of the residents in KPH with high incomes. Unfortunately, this high corn production was not accompanied by adequate postharvest technology. Some vital problems occurred, especially during raining season, like fungi, undesired germination, and many more. Therefore, the weight loss of corn production is still very high. This activity aimed to assist farmers by changing how farmers look at the quality assurance of the produced corn products and improving farmers' postharvest corn practices. This activity's method was introducing corn harvesting machines, namely corn sheller machines, and improving the farmers’ knowledge about the quality control of corn. The activities were carried out to allocate five (5) units of corn sheller units to five Forest Village Community Institutions (in Indonesia known as 'Lembaga Masyarakat Desa Hutan,' LMDH) who were the targeted partners. The activities of sharing the knowledge regarding good postharvest for corn were going well and the participants gave excellent responses and actively participated.

Variation of Deoxynivalenol Levels in Corn and Its Products Available in Retail Markets of Punjab, Pakistan, and Estimation of Risk Assessment

This study investigated the natural incidence of deoxynivalenol (DON) in corn and corn products from corn-producing districts of Punjab, Pakistan. The analysis was carried out using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with UV detector and immunoaffinity cleanup columns. The detection limit (LOD) and limit of quantification were 25 and 50 µg/kg, respectively. A total of 1220 samples of corn and corn products were analyzed to detect DON, and 539 (44.2%) samples were observed to be contaminated with DON (n ≥ LOD). Furthermore, 92 (7.5%) samples of corn and corn products had DON levels that were higher than the proposed limits of the EU. The data are significantly different from a normal distribution of DON in samples of corn and corn products from different locations (p < 0.05) for Shapiro–Wilk and Kolmogorov–Smirnov values. However, a significant difference in DON levels was found between corn and corn-derived products (p ≤ 0.05). The lowest and highest exposures, and hazard quotient (HQ) values of 0.92 and 9.68 µg/kg bw/day, were documented in corn flour samples.
