Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans ( A. ferrooxidans ) is a gram-negative, extremely acidophilic, mesophilic, chemolithotrophic bacterium and the most well-studied acidophilic organism which is usually found in acid environments such as acid mine drainage. The draft genome sequence of A. ferrooxidans ATCC 23270 was first reported in 2000, fourteen years ago. Here we describe the features of this organism, together with the draft genome sequence, and annotation. This is the draft genome sequence from the A. ferrooxidans, and the 3,142,890 bp long single replicon genome with its 32,719 protein-coding and 64 RNA genes is a part of the Genomic Encyclopedia of Bacteria and Bacterial project.

We present the draft genome sequence of Janthinobacterium sp. strain PC23-8, a bacterium isolated from freshwater stream sediment downstream from acid mine drainage. The 6.4-Mb genome sequence of this strain contains several secondary metabolite gene clusters, including one similar to the cyclic peptide jagaricin, synthesized by Janthinobacterium agaricidamnosum.

ABSTRACT Reported herein is the draft genome sequence of equine-origin Lawsonia intracellularis strain E40504, an obligate intracellular bacterium and the etiological agent of equine proliferative enteropathy. The 1.69-Mb draft genome sequence includes 1,380 protein-coding genes and 49 RNA genes, and it lacks a genomic island reported in swine-origin L. intracellularis strain PHE/MN1-00.

ABSTRACT Here, we describe the draft genome sequence of Bacillus velezensis strain X-BIO-1, which contains 16 contigs, comprising 3,861,135 bp with a G+C content of 46.54%. The annotated draft genome contains 3,710 protein-coding genes and 62 RNA genes. We identified genes responsible for the synthesis of various antibiotics.

We generated a high-quality draft genome sequence ofBacteroidalesstrain 6E, a strict anaerobe newly isolated from Japanese rice paddy field soil. The genome consists of 61 contigs, with a total size of 4,436,542 bp and mean G+C content of 45.4%. Annotation predicted 3,620 protein-coding and 54 RNA genes.

ABSTRACTWe report the draft genome sequence ofPaenisporosarcinasp. strain TG-20, which is 4.12 Mb in size and consists of 4,071 protein-coding genes and 76 RNA genes. The genome sequence ofPaenisporosarcinasp. TG-20 may provide useful information about molecular adaptations that enhance survival in icy subsurface environments.

Mycobacterium peregrinumis a nonpigmented rapid growing nontuberculosis species belonging to theMycobacterium fortuitumgroup. The draft genome ofM. peregrinumtype I CSUR P2098 comprises 7,109,836 bp exhibiting a 66.23% G+C content, 6,894 protein-coding genes, and 100 predicted RNA genes. Its genome analysis suggests this species differs fromMycobacterium senegalense.
