The aim of this research was to establish a relationship between motor skills and performance of gymnastic elements on the floor routine and vault. A battery of 22 motor skills tests was assessed on the sample of 36 male subjects, students of Faculty of Physical Education and Sport, all of whom took the course “Sport Gymnastics 1”. The subjects were evaluated by an expert commission in the performance of the selected elements on the floor routine (side-to-side and front-to-back cartwheel, roundoff, front and back handspring, forward and backward flip) and the vault (squat through on the vault and straddle vault with pre-flight, front handspring on vault, roundoff vault). The overall results of the canonical correlation analysis indicated to the evaluation of the applied canonical model on motor tests in relation to the performance of gymnastic elements, to the canonical correlation value of 0.998 with the Chi-Square test value of 320.11, and to statistically significant correlation of used variables on level p .00280. Through further analysis, 10 canonical roots were extracted, out of which only the first one was statistically significant (p .002). Through observation of data on the correlation between motor variables and canonical roots, it can be concluded that the standing triple jump variable and the lying medicine ball throw variable have the highest projection on the canonical factor, and thus are also most significant in conditioning the results achieved. Variables of coordination, figure eight running drill with bending under rope, lateral shuffle, agility on the floor, and agility in the air, all indicate to negative projection on the first isolated canonical factor, as do the two flexibility tests, shoulder and chest opener with rod and standing shoulder extension, pointing to the fact that the subjects with lower degree of those motor skills have also had lower performance of specific gymnastic elements. Regarding the criterion variables, the results show that the front-to-back cartwheel variable had the biggest projection, while the variables side-to-side cartwheel, back handspring, backward flip, squat through on the vault with pre-flight, and roundoff vault had almost the same projection on the first canonical root, indicating the need for greater engagement of motor skills in performing the aforementioned elements.

The aim of this research was to establish a relationship between motor skills andperformance of specific elements in handball. A battery of 18 motor skills tests was assessed on thesample of 58 male subjects, students of Faculty of Physical Education and Sport, aged 21-23years.Variables of coordination, figure eight running drill with bending under rope, lateral shuffle, agility on the floor, and agility in the air, all indicate to negative projection on the first isolatedcanonical factor, as do the two flexibility tests, shoulder and chest opener with rod and standingshoulder extension were applied as predictor variables and two tests dribbling around thecones (Metikoš and al. 1989) and throwing the ball against the wall (Rogulj and al. 1995).Theoverall results of the canonical correlation analysis indicated to the evaluation of the appliedcanonical model on motor tests in relation to the performance of specific handball elements,to the canonical correlation value of 0.765, with the Chi-Square test value of 320.101, and tostatistically significant correlation of used variables on level p .008. Through further analysis,4 canonical roots were extracted, out of which only the first one was statistically significant (p.008). Through observation of data on the correlation between motor variables and canonicalroots, it can be concluded that the MRCZTL (0.58) and MFEBML (0.56)variables have thehighest projection on the canonical factor, and thus are also most significant in conditioningthe results achieved. Also the MAGKUS (0.55), MBFTAP (0.51) and MBAU1Z (0.51)variables has statisticaly significant results in conditioning the results achieved. Results of thisanalisys are ppointing to the fact that the subjects with lower degree of those motor skills havealso had lower performance of specific handball elements, indicating the need for greater engagementof motor skills in performing the aforementioned elements.

The main aim of this research was to determine to which degree the system of variables used to evaluate specific motor skills correlated with the system of variables used to evaluate successful performance in football play. The study was conducted on a sample of 170 senior football players. There were 16 predictor variables to assess specific motor skills and eight criterion variables to assess successful performance. A canonical correlation analysis was applied in the statistical procedure to determine the relationships (correlations) between these spaces. Correlations were established between the investigated spaces with four pairs of canonical factors, and it has been shown that situational motor skills have high correlations with performance success in the game of football (Can R.=0.71, on average). It is indicated that the participants whose performance in football play was more successful also had better situational motor skills and that the mechanism for structuring movement is shown to be of great importance for the successful performance of tactical and technical elements in football players.

Abstract Introduction: Motor skills are enlarged during schooling age, with possible relation between motor and school performance. Objective: Compare motor skills of children with good and poor school performance, according to the teacher’s perception in the classroom. Method: School children aged 6 to 11 years were divided into two groups; poor school performance (PSP) and good school performance (GSP) and evaluated using the Motor Development Scale (MDS). The chronological age, general motor age and the motor quotient of each area evaluated were compared between the groups using the Mann-Whitney Test. The Chi-square test was used to associate the motor performance classification and the school performance. Results: Chronological age was similar between groups, although the general motor age was smaller in the PSP. The general motor quotient and the motor quotients in the areas of body scheme, spatial and temporal organization were significantly smaller in PSP. Most children were classified by the MDS as Low Normal or Medium Normal motor skills in both groups; however in the GSP, 27.5% of the children had a High Normal or Superior motor development and only 2.5% were classified as Very Inferior or Inferior. In the PSP, 12.5% had a Very Inferior or Inferior performance and only 6.25% had a High Normal or Superior performance (p < 0.05 - chi-square test). Conclusion: Results show a direct connection between poor school performance and motor skill difficulties, which illustrates the relation between motor and cognitive skills.

The purpose of this study was to examine whether Americans and European Americans disability would differ in vocational rehabilitation (VR) acceptance. The author used a Chi-square test of independence as the test statistic. Because the majority of previous studies of VR acceptance fail to use a relational statistic to test the practical significance among explanatory and criterion variables, the phi coefficient was utilized. Relational statistics are important because it shows how variables relate, either negatively or positively. Using this methodology, there was no statistically significant difference between African Americans and European Americans. Moreover, the strength of the association between variables proved slight, even in the presence of a relatively large sample. The author concludes by discussing limitations and future research.

390 Background: 5-fluorouracil and capecitabine are the gold standards in colorectal cancer (CRC) treatment and are often combined with oxaliplatin (FOLFOX and XELOX chemotherapy, respectively). Our purpose was to analyze associations between severe adverse reactions to these regimes and polymorphisms in genes related to these drugs Methods: Retrospective study with 47 adult CRC patients treated with adjuvant FOLFOX/XELOX. 20 polymorphisms in 14 genes were selected: 6 genes [XRCC1 (rs25487), ERCC2 (rs131181), ERCC1 (rs11615), GSTP1 (rs1695), EGFR (rs4559542) and GSTT1 (copy number variation)] related to the pharmacokinetics and dynamics of oxaliplatin and 8 related to fluoropyrimidines [MTHFR (rs1801131 and rs1801133), DPYD (rs2297595 and rs3918290), TYMS (rs34743033 and rs34489327), ABCB1 (rs1128503, rs2032582 and rs1045642), ABCC4 (rs4148551 and rs3742106), ABCC5 (rs3805114), CYP2A6 (rs3742106 ) and CDA (rs2072671)]. Linear by linear association chi-square test (SPSS v.18.0.) was used to study associations. A multivariate analysis including sex and performance status was also conducted. p< 0.05 was considered significant. Results: Mean age was 62 (SD: 12) years and 78.7% male. Univariate analysis: statistically significant associations were obtained between rs11615 (ERCC1), neutropenia and hand-foot syndrome; rs3742106 (CYP2A6) and neutropenia; rs34743033 and rs34489327 (TYMS) and nausea/vomiting; and CNV of GSTT1 and neutropenia. Multivariate analysis: statistically significant associations were obtained between rs3742106 (CYP2A6) and neutropenia (GT vs. TT: OR, 0.042, 95% CI, 0004-0499, p = 0.012); rs2297595 (DPYD) and nausea/vomiting (GA vs AA: OR, 0.051, 95% CI, 0003-0772, p = 0.032); and rs11615 (ERCC1) and neutropenia (CC vs CT / TT: OR, 0.099, 95% CI, 0016-0615, p = 0.013) Conclusions: These results could help oncologists reduce adverse reactions associated to FOLFOX and XELOX chemotherapy by giving patients the best possible option, thus, improving their quality of life. Bigger cohorts are needed to verify the polymorphisms in ERCC1, CYP2A6, TYMS, DPYD and GSTT1 prior application in clinical practice.

The research was conducted on a sample of 70 respondents-swimmers aged 13-15 years of swimming clubs from Sarajevo Canton/Federation of BiH, with the aim of determining the significance and magnitude of the impact of selected basic motor skills on the implementation of specific motor tasks in swimming (navigability in place, sliding length with reflection from water, start from starting block, parallel). The study used 10 variables to assess basic motor skills, which were the input or predictor set of variables, and three variables to assess the efficiency of specific motor tasks in swimming as a criterion, each variable from the battery of specific motor tasks was considered as a criterion on the predictor set of basic-motor variables. Three mini regression analyzes were applied to determine the statistical significance and relative influence of basic motor skills on the realization of specific motor tasks in swimming (buoyancy in place, length of sliding with reflection from water, start from the starting block, parallel). The results of regression analyzes indicate that the greatest influence on the overall efficiency in the implementation of specific motor tests in swimming, looking at all criterion variables together, from the set of basic-motor variables, as a predictor set, show the following variables: stick twist-MFLISK MFLPRK, plantar flexion-MFLPL, long jump from place-MFESDM, agility on the ground-MKOKNT and shelter in lying-MRCZTL. The results obtained in this research can be useful for teachers and swimming trainers who work with younger age categories for the purpose of better programming of training work and selection of training content.
