A significant percentage of entrepreneurs, micro and small companies in Serbia do not have adequate outbound logistics capacities in order to register significant growth in business. The needs of everyday business and the demand for certain products and services is a reflection of the quality of products, and very often it is not realized in full potential, due to poorly dimensioned aspects of logistics function, or due to insufficient operational capacity of the company itself. The key problems of small companies from Serbia, which are trying to internationalize their products or services, lies in the fact that Serbia (as a country) generally has very poor outbound logistics and transport efficient solutions and capacities. In addition, transport costs and supply chain length have critical impact on the ability of a small company to meet demand outside the local market. The complexity of the problem is affected equally by internal capacities of micro and small companies, but also by weak external support for specialized outbound logistics services (transport, transshipment, etc.). These problems will be analyzed on a sample of small Serbian companies that deal with different fruit cultures processing, and are trying to conquer new markets. The result of the conducted research serves in an attempt of narrowing the problem to specific sectors of the industry, which are affected by inadequate logistics capacities. Future research could contain concrete measures to improve the delivery process and internationalization of goods for companies outside large systems (corporations), by defining concrete proposals to improve outbound logistics management capacities in Serbia.

Formulation of the problem. The article reflects the assessment of the competitiveness of processed fruit and vegetable products, the qualitative characteristics of fruit and vegetable products are substantiated, as well as the parameters of the degree of consistency of expert opinions based on the calculation of the concordance coefficient. The purpose of the research is to reflect and characterize existing methods of integrated assessment of the competitiveness of processed fruit and vegetable products. The object of research – the process of determining the quality of products produced, as well as the competitiveness of processed fruit and vegetable products. The methods used in the research – logical, comparative, analytical, scientific and methodological. The hypothesis of the research is to assume the dependence of the competitiveness of processed fruit and vegetable products and its sales volumes. The statement of basic materials. The buyer prefers products depending on the purpose and use of this product. In the course of further processing, the buyer pays attention to the volume of packaging, the suitability of the packaging for the content of the product in it, the maximum time for the storage of products. The article suggests such indicators of quality of processed fruit and vegetable production: biochemical composition of products; packaging of products; design and design of products; appearance and consistency; terms of product suitability; cost of production per kilogram of production. The originality and practical significance of the research is that the author substantiates the degree of influence of the proposed indicators on competitiveness on the basis of expert assessments. The number of points is determined depending on the number of factors considered. The degree of consensus of expert opinions is established on the basis of calculating the coefficient of concordation. Conclusions of the research. In the process of packaging the product and its production must take into account the directions of its use. For further industrial consumption, processed fruit and vegetable products can be made with a higher content of dry soluble substances, vitamins, sugars, and acidity. This will save on the cost of packaging, transport costs, and handling operations.

Pharmaceutical industry caters to the health care needs through manufacturing drugs that cure diseases. With retailers being one of the customers in this industry, it is imperative for any pharmaceutical companyto address the issues concerning their preferences for these drugs to remain competitive in business. This prompts us to investigate the factors that influence their decisions in selecting the pharmaceutical products. This paper aims to identify those factors and rank them through application of analytical hierarchy process (AHP) with the support of the Expert Choice Software version 11.0. In this regard, six factors are identified, namely, quality of products, availability of products, variety of products, delivery deadline, flexibility in quantity, and competitive price that affect the purchasing decision of the retailers. The result indicates that among the chosen six factors, quality of products is ranked first followed by variety of products, availability of products, flexibility in quantity, competitive price, and delivery deadline. Inconsistency level as generated by the synthesis of AHP is found to be 9% that falls below the threshold value of 10%, signifying to the acceptability of the result. The implications of the findings on the part of the pharmaceutical companies and suggestions for future research are also put forward.

Small businesses facing increased competition are being forced to reassess and upgrade their products, their production processes, and their management methods. To improve a company's competitive position by simultaneously improving product quality, process efficiency, and management effectiveness, some small businesses are turning to statistical analysis and in-process control systems. Such methods add an additional advantage to those companies that operate principally as vendors in that in-process control is replacing acceptance sample testing as the preferred method for controlling the quality of purchased goods. Though large companies can afford to have quality control departments and employ resident statisticians, many small companies cannot. This paper demonstrates the utility of statistical methods and tells how small businesses can use them at a reasonable cost.

Using a large sample of Spanish organizations, in this chapter, the authors empirically reveal the state of health of the Spanish software industry in terms of software process improvement, both in the monitoring of working methodologies and the usage of tools, and they provide the necessary information in order to understand the real skills and efforts to improve the quality of products and end-user services. Having found that a significant number of organizations do not have specific training programs or their own software quality department, it is an essential point of departure for professionals to increase awareness of the need to implement quality processes to improve the competitiveness of the company. The state of knowledge of the methodologies aimed at quality and existing national and international standards shows that these are barely known by professionals in Spanish companies, especially among SMEs and micro-enterprises. However, most Spanish small businesses and large enterprises think the CMMI model best suits their needs, both business and technical. This growing interest is the main reason behind the fact that Spain has almost 38% of the European CMMI certifications, including 22 new certifications since 2010, and is the fourth country in the world in terms of number of CMMI appraisals.

While the quality of products is a competitive advantage for very small software development organizations, the usage of Software and Systems Engineering standards amongst such very small organizations is extremely low. A key factor in the literature explaining this lack of quality standards adoption is the perception by small and very small organizations that such standards have been developed for large multi-national companies and not with small and very small organizations in mind. The ISO/IEC 29110 standard is unique amongst software and systems engineering standards, in that the working group (ISO/IEC JTC1/SC7 WG 24) mandated to develop a new standard approached industry to conduct a needs assessment and gather actual requirements for a new standard as part of the standards development process. This paper presents a historical perspective behind the development of the ISO/IEC 29110 systems and software engineering standard and its constituent components, including the rationale behind its development and the innovative design of implementation guides to assist very small companies in adopting the standards. Further this paper will present an overview of the various parts of the ISO/IEC 29110 family and briefly present the plans for the future evolution of this series of standards.

Small businesses represent an important element of many western economies. However, they often struggle with resources needed to succeed, and small business owners often have to perform many, if not all, roles in their organizations. One of the key functions that small businesses need to excel at for business success today is social commerce since much of their business is migrating towards the use of social media for business. In this study, determinants of social commerce benefits for small businesses are explored. Using survey data from 60 small companies, this research identifies stakeholder pressure and partner pressure as the most significant factors in determining social commerce benefits for small business. Implications of these findings and provide suggestions for future research are discussed.

The objective of this research is to analyze the level of functionality of the management of micro and small companies directed by women, through evaluating their processes with a systemic approach, which is composed as inputs of the variables inputs of the process, system processes and system results. The study included a representative sample of 327 companies. The information was collected through an instrument that includes 109 items on a five-level Likert-type scale applied by 180 students, previously trained for the application, as well as for data capture on a digital platform. The validation of the information generated in these two activities was validated by the present authors. Specifically, the variable with the best performance is production-operation (process) with a value of 4.2, where it is reflected that companies focus on the quality of their products, taking care of delivery times, as well as satisfaction of customers. On the other hand, the variable scope in sales is the one that shows the largest area of opportunity with a value of 3.0, this has to do with the expansion of sales outside its local sphere.

The strategic development of most large enterprises, as well as successful productions of medium and small businesses is focused on expanding sell markets beyond the national economy. The logic of the research as formed by the authors is based on a combination of both quantitative and qualitative methods of analysis, which provide an opportunity to identify trends in the implementation of export strategies, allocate clusters of markets on price grounds, and assess the consequences of the implementation of export strategies of Ukrainian companies. The competitive environment of global markets is changing in space and time. It is substantiated that the development of marketing export strategies of companies should be based on the analysis of industry markets taking into account the main competitors – both countries and companies. The method of calculating the country’s participation coefficients in the world market of imported goods on an industry basis is applied. The absolute and relative indicators are analyzed, which in combination give a holistic picture of the current state of implementation of Ukraine’s export potential, as well as the initial data for further actions towards improving the efficiency of the process of internationalization of business. The overall efficiency of the company’s development, in particular the quality of functioning of all systems involved in exports, depends largely on the quality of management, which determines the need to implement certain measures of the organizational and economic support in the sphere of staff, finance, production, and sales at the enterprise. The problems that substantially affect the competitiveness of Ukrainian exports are outlined. At the same time, a significant backlog of global trends in the exports of high-tech goods and services, leading to low profitability of export activity in general, is identified. The analysis of structural shifts in the export activity of Ukrainian enterprises is carried out, the types of price strategies in the practice of promotion to new markets are identified. The practice of conduct of export activity shows that companies use different export marketing strategies both in the developed and in the developing countries. The obtained results of the research should be used by representatives of Ukrainian business for analysis, elimination of shortcomings and disparities, as well as development of new business models of export activity. Recommendations for improving export strategies in the conditions of digitalization of markets are formed. Prospect for future research is to find possible ways to increase the technological efficiency of Ukrainian exports and, consequently, increase the competitiveness of the national economy.
