Abstract: The aim of this paper is to analyse the influence of new technological environments on human rights. Firstly, we outline the risks posed by new technologies, and how they impact on the lives and rights of people. Secondly, bearing in mind the benefits brought by scientific-technological progress to many spheres of human life and society, we offer a few reflections about the incidence and repercussion of these advances for human rights institutions and advocates. We conclude by arguing for the need for analysis and reflection about the legal construction that must respond to these new challenges.

The Advisory Opinion of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights No. OC-23/17, of 15 November 2017, on “Environment and Human Rights” and the ruling in the case Lhaka Honhat V. Argentina of 6 February 2020, develops the content of the right to a healthy environment from an approach that we could see as ecocentric. This right, as an autonomous right, protects nature not only because of its usefulness for human beings (anthropocentric-instrumental vision), but also because of its importance for other living organisms with which the planet is shared (biocentric-not instrumental vision). This paper analyzes this new right, giving an account of the possible legal philosophical presuppositions that inform it, as well as the possible changes that this new approach may bring to the Inter-American System of Human Rights.

The new technologies applied to education are a dynamic phenomenon, and this forces the academic community to review the level of students’ knowledge over their real competences. This work is part of an extensive research that analyzes the training on the students’ ICT of the Primary School Degree Teacher Training, on three Spanish universities (Granada, Jaén and Oviedo). The study focuses on a sample of 559 students and highlights the strengths and weaknesses about their ICT skills, emphasizing those aspects that should be specially studied. The results show new challenges for the teacher, technically, legislatively, or about security-related issues, such as cyberbullying or anxiety. This increase in subjects should not be an obstacle to continue addressing traditional ICT issues, since our results show these aspects again become gaps in the students’ knowledge.

This article discusses some of the philosophical issues of life and health related to hospice movement and palliative, palliative medicine. Bioethics promotes the formation of new values in social and national consciousness, it stimulates significantly the humanization of natural and social sciences, new technologies, medicine and health care, make a transition between the natural, medical, social and humanitarian knowledge, as well as to establish balance between science and morality. Bioethics as a special form of practical philosophy of life teaches that human inter-relation with his own life, the whole biosphere is not only contemplative, theoretical and emotionless, but, being a practical relation, it constantly involves a certain assessment. The philosophical analysis of the problem of euthanasia has shown that the philosophical mind of the 20–21st centuries doesn’t view death as an alien to human existence, but as an existential component of life itself. Not only the problems of life-death bordering situations are implemented philosophically, but also the existential bases of human life i.e. freedom and responsibility. Today the idea of a human’s dignified death is discussed in two directions: as an euthanasia issue and the problem of hospices. In the article an attempt was to give the palliative medicine a philosophical interpretation, the roots of which can be found the Medieval culture. On the base of the formation and development of bioethics in article is substantiated the position according to which the imperative of the contemporary human existence demands a qualitatively new approach to current complicated, global and various issues.

This review surveys contemporary challenges in the field of technology and human rights. The increased use of artificial intelligence (AI) in decision making in the public and private sectors—e.g., in criminal justice, employment, public service, and financial contexts—poses significant threats to human rights. AI obscures and attenuates responsibility for harms in ways that undermine traditional mechanisms for holding wrongdoers accountable. Further, technologies that scholars and practitioners once thought would democratize human rights fact finding have been weaponized by state and non-state actors. They are now used to surveil and track citizens and spread disinformation that undermines public trust in knowledge. Addressing these challenges requires efforts to ensure that the development and implementation of new technologies respects and promotes human rights. Traditional distinctions between public and private must be updated to remain relevant in the face of deeply enmeshed state and corporate action in connection with technological innovation.

Our world is undergoing constant transformation, and it requires an education system that can adapt to meet changing needs. Our need to sustain a more fully human life and to engage in solidarity means that we must appeal to new generations using 21st century digital competences. This is a theoretical and practical study of empowering education about sustainable development. Thanks to the application of new technologies, the study was able to highlight some proposals for improving education in this regard. METHOD. First, a critical literature review was conducted of publications related to the topics of the paper. Then, a qualitative study on technology and education was conducted with 20 secondary school students and forty eight teachers, and the results were compared with those of prior research. For the purposes of the study, interview and group discussion techniques were used, and the data collected were analysed using the program Atlas.ti7. RESULTS. The observed results contrast with the ideal of “School 2.0”. Teachers engage in preventive activities due to the immaturity of the students, representing a significant type of control that both parties deem necessary, a lack of training on the part of teachers and an instrumental use of ICT. DISCUSSION. The normalisation of appropriate use of ICT and a constant process of technological and pedagogical training for teachers could help contribute to empowering students. CONCLUSION. Several suggestions are made as to how to use ICT to educate students to be aware of their roles in creating a sustainable society.

ABSTRACT:The teaching of foreign languages has aroused a widespread interest among scholars of various subjects. In particular, the teaching of Spanish as L2 has been specifically developed over the years. Old textbooks have traditionally failed to give a suitable grounding by focusing too much on similarities between the two languages. In more recent times, as scholars have become more conscious of the challenges associated with related languages, they have begun comparing and contrasting. Moreover, the advent of new technologies continues to pose new challenges. One such challenge relates to teachers as “digital immigrants” and learners as “digital natives”. Furthermore, new language courses are designed with a plurilinguistic approach and do not take into account the linguistic interferences between Spanish and Italian. This article aims to investigate how modern teaching deals with grammar and syntax as major issues for Italian students aiming to improve their Spanish.RESUMEN:El estudio de la enseñanza de las lenguas extranjeras ha ido interesando a investigadores de varias disciplinas. Contacto principal: [email protected]

Our global knowledge of different cultures and the diversity of values increases almost daily. New challenges arise for ethics. This is especially true in the field of bioethics because the technological progress of medicine throughout the world is causing dramatic interactions with traditionally held values. Science and technology are rapidly advancing beyond discussions and corresponding political struggles over human rights, leaving those debates behind. This rapid development of science is at odds with the principle of sustained development that calls for measured and thoughtful planning, such that no new idea should rupture the delicate fabric of communities, environment, and cultural evolution.
