Critical thinking involves the ability to properly assess statements and actions, and it also requires a permanent disposition to appropriately use cognitive skills in the evaluation of any claim. In the present paper, we discuss the characteristics of an ideal critical thinker, and apply them to a contemporary problem, namely anthropogenic global warming (AGW, a hypothesis that accounts for the increase of the average temperature of Earth as a consequence of human activities), in order to discuss what an ideal critical thinker is expected to conclude about the occurrence of this phenomenon. We assume that an ideal critical thinker is able to find out where the most reliable information regarding a certain issue is, is competent to reasonably evaluate it, and has an inclination to calibrate her beliefs according to the results of the inquiry. We thus conclude that an ideal critical thinker is expected to accept the current scientific consensus that AGW is occurring, albeit considering this issue, as well as virtually any other idea, open to revision. The fact that in many occasions people are selective in using critical thinking skills, such as when they reject the massive evidence of AGW, should be a cause of concern for educators, who should motivate their students to think critically about any problem and question they encounter; this, in turn, could help the students to develop a better understanding of the world, take more reasonable courses of action, and be protected against misinformation.

During the Covid-19 pandemic that swept the world including Indonesia, and to improve students' critical thinking skills, it is necessary to have supporting media in the learning process as an edutainment website. This study intends to determine the validity of the edutainment website developed in physics lessons to improve student's critical thinking skills. The research method used is development research with the DDD-E model. This research was only limited to media development, and no practicality and effectiveness tests were carried out. In this study, the validity data were obtained from the results of validation by expert and were analyzed by descriptive quantitative using the category of Likert scale percentage. If the percentage of each aspect is ≥ 61%, then the edutainment website developed can be declared valid. The results of this study are the percentage of validity in the learning aspect of 90.30%, the material aspect of 90.56%, the media aspect of 88.65%, and the critical thinking aspect of 84.70%. Based on this, it can be concluded that the edutainment website is very valid so that it can be used as a physics learning media to improve students' critical thinking skills. The edutainment website can be an alternative learning media by utilizing information technology and hopefully in further research, it can apply edutainment website and perform practicality and effectiveness tests for learning both in class and distance learning

Background/Purpose: Critical thinking skills (CTS) are essential for nurses; assessing students’ acquisition of these skills is a mandate of nursing curricula. This study aimed to develop a self-assessment instrument of critical thinking skills (Critical Thinking Self-Assessment Scale [CTSAS]) for students’ self-monitoring. Methods: An initial pool of 196 items across 6 core cognitive skills and 16 subskills were generated using the American Philosophical Association definition of CTS. Experts’ content review of the items and their ratings provided evidence of content relevance using the item-level content validity index (I-CVI) and Aiken’s content validity coefficient (VIk). Results: 115 items were retained (range of I-CVI values = .70 to .94 and range of VIkvalues = .69–.95; significant atp< .05). Conclusion: The CTSAS is the first CTS instrument designed specifically for self-assessment purposes.

Critical thinking skills are important to practice early on in elementary school. It is believed that STEM based education could  trigger the students to more critical. Individuals who have critical thinking skills will be able to communicate well. Many research results show that critical thinking skills can be stimulated by applying project-based learning in class. This research aims to describe critical thinking skills based on communication skills by using STEM-based Project-Based Learning. The research is a mixed-methods study. The population of this research consisted of fifth graders of Public Primary School 3 Pakis. The research instruments used were critical thinking skills tests, communication skills questionnaires and interview guidelines. The quantitative data was selected by purposive sampling technique. The qualitative data was based on the communication skills levels: high, moderate, and low. Based on the triangulation data it shows that students with high critical thinking skills reached the aspect of analyzing arguments; the moderate level could achieved simple aspects of explanation; while the lower level critical thinker only reaches the aspect of focusing questions. The STEM approach applied in project-based learning is able to encourage students to be able to communicate verbally and improve their critical thinking skills in solving problems.

The incidence of stress was quite high, reaching more than 350 million people in the world and ranked 4th in the world. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between adversity quotient and critical thinking ability with stress on nursing students in the Widya Dharma Husada Tangerang School of Health Science who are already working. The method of this research was analytic study with a cross sectional approach. The number of samples was 96 students at Widya Dharma Husada Tangerang School of Health Science in 2020. Sampling used non-probability sampling techniques with purposive sampling. The results showed that respondents had a moderate adversity quotient of 48 respondents (50%) and respondents who think critically are not good as many as 61 respondents (63,5%). Statistical test results obtained the, then it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between adversity quotient with stress (p-value = 0.004) and critical thinking skills with stress (p-value = 0.015) Keywords:Adversity QuotientCritical thinkingStressABSTRAKAngka kejadian stres tergolong cukup tinggi memperoleh lebih dari 350 juta penduduk di dunia dan berada di peringkat ke-4 penyakit di dunia. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik non probability sampling dengan purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa responden memiliki adversity quotient sedang sebanyak 48 responden (50%), responden yang berpikir kritis kurang baik sebanyak 61 responden (63,5%). As stakeholders of educational systems, teachers are urged to participate in social change through the implementation of critical thinking skills into the educational setting. English language teaching has primarily focused on critical thinking, particularly in the recent years. Therefore, teachers are required to examine their teaching materials to ensure that they meet the needs of the 21st century. This study investigates the extent of implemented higher-order thinking skills using revised Bloom&rsquo;s taxonomy. It examines tasks in course books used at the College of Technological Studies at the Public Authority of Applied Education and Training in Kuwait. The course books examined are Tech Talk at the elementary, pre-intermediate, and intermediate levels. The findings of this study prove that most of the tasks in the sample chosen encourage students&rsquo; lower cognitive skills. Therefore, syllabus and material designers and teachers should include tasks that foster higher-order cognitive skills. The results are expected to serve as reference for direct language teachers when planning lessons in their course book adaptation and with curriculum development. &nbsp;

This study aims to find how students' critical thinking skills after learning to use generative learning models in science learning material on global warming. This type of research is a quasi-experimental study with a population of 2 classes taken from class VII SMP in one of the cities of Sukabumi. The research sample was selected using a purposive sampling technique. The research design used in this study was the Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The instrument used in this study is a multiple-choice test of 15 items, each of which has been declared valid and reliable. Based on the data requirements test, it is known that the results of the research data are normally distributed and the two classes have the same variance (homogeneous). From the data analysis, it is known that the average value of the posttest of the experimental class students with the generative learning model is 84.50 and the average value of the posttest of the control class students without using the generative learning model is 62.19. There is a significant difference in student learning outcomes, this is evidenced by the Z-test obtained by Zcount> Ztable (3.72 > 1.96) so this study rejects H0 and accepts H1. Thus, it can be concluded that there are effects of learning outcomes on the critical thinking skills of students who take part in learning by using generative learning models on global warming material.

<span>Critical thinking skills that enhance the ability of individuals to understand and make sense of the world and events and situations around them are one of the foremost research areas in the educational system of various countries. As a critical thinking individual, decisions made by the teacher in his/her class, the activities he/she has performed and the explicit and implicit messages given by him/her to the class are clearly observed by the students. It is believed that the situation of teachers’ having critical thinking skills and critical thinking personality effects on students' perceptions and achievements about critical thinking. In this context, the aim of the research is to determine the perceptions of the teacher candidates about critical thinking and to observe the changes in these perceptions over time. Interviews were held with 11 prospective teachers for two times for 4 years and their thoughts on critical thinking were examined. According to the findings obtained, the thoughts of the teacher candidates regarding the critical thinking do not change over time but they are not seen enough. Teacher candidates make decisions with emotional references and they are reluctant to inquire and research.</span>

<p>Driving students to be a critical thinker in their process of writing is hardly a challenge. As an effective process of writing depend on how well they develop their critical thinking skills, helping them build the critical thinking in writing is considered as a way to make a correct judgment independently and  create an environment that raises their best writing. The current study attempts to investigate whether the use of questions could generate students’ critical thinking in their writing process. The participants were 38 English Department students who encountered argumentative writing class in University degree. The subjects were assigned into a mix method on a quasi- experimental study involving pretest - posttest with some features of semi structured interview to know their level of satisfaction from the gained score. The results of the study showed that the significance of exploring questions in helping students’ critical thinking for meaningful learning, especially in the connectivity and coherency of their writing product and also the flow of the sentences. Moreover, the students are being actively involved in meaningful communicative language during the process of writing. This good engagement contributes for the positive classroom management.<strong></strong></p><p class="KEYWORDSMaJER"> </p>

STEAM is a new innovation in the era of disruption in the world of education. which is an integrative thematic learning, scientific approach and technology-based, STEAM Method is a unit of learning to improve critical and creative thinking skills that can be carried out by all educational fields including early childhood education, and this STEAM learning method uses loose-based media parts which are used to stimulate children's creativity. The purpose of this study is to develop the learning process using STEAM and loose part based learning methods. And to increase creativity and critical thinking in children is characterized by children able to solve problems and be able to make connections with the surrounding environment. Using a loose part based STEAM learning method that is able to develop creativity and critical thinking of children. Children's creativity can be seen from how to play, explore and have creative thinking skills and fluent, critical thinking skills that we can see in analyzing a problem, can explore in detail and systematically
