Considering the specificities and principles of the Pilates method, the present study aims to develop and validate an observation system that allows us to observe the instructional behaviors of Fitness instructors in the Pilates activity (SOIIF-PILATES), based on the adaptation of an instrument that already exist. After several methodological procedures to test the functionality of the instrument, the SOIIF-PILATES proved to be valid and reliable, consisting of two dimensions (moment and content) and 15 categories. A pilot application of the instrument was also carried out in a sample of 15 Fitness instructors of  the Pilates activity, which allowed to characterize their intervention as well as to compare it in different phases of the class (warm-up, main part and relaxation/stretching) and in different parts of the exercise (before, during and after the exercise) The results of the pilot study reveal that most of the categories referred by the instructors are following the principles of Pilates, which may justify their high utilization. Differences were found in the total of instruction of the different phases of the class and between the different phases of the class and the different phases of the exercise. In this study, a low-altitude remote sensing (LARS) observation system was employed to observe a rapidly changing coastal environment-owed to the regular opening of the sluice gate of the Saemangeum seawall-off the west coast of South Korea. The LARS system uses an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), a multispectral camera, a global navigation satellite system (GNSS), and an inertial measurement unit (IMU) module to acquire geometry information. The UAV system can observe the coastal sea surface in two dimensions with high temporal (1 s−1) and spatial (20 cm) resolutions, which can compensate for the coarse spatial resolution of in-situ measurements and the low temporal resolution of satellite observations. Sky radiance, sea surface radiance, and irradiance were obtained using a multispectral camera attached to the LARS system, and the remote sensing reflectance (Rrs) was accordingly calculated. In addition, the hyperspectral radiometer and in-situ chlorophyll-a concentration (CHL) measurements were obtained from a research vessel to validate the Rrs observed using the multispectral camera. Multi-linear regression (MLR) was then applied to derive the relationship between Rrs of each wavelength observed using the multispectral sensor on the UAV and the in-situ CHL. As a result of applying MLR, the correlation and root mean square error (RMSE) between the remotely sensed and in-situ CHLs were 0.94 and ~0.8 μg L−1, respectively; these results show a higher correlation coefficient and lower RMSE than those of other, previous studies. The newly derived algorithm for the CHL estimation enables us to survey 2D CHL images at high temporal and spatial resolutions in extremely turbid coastal oceans.

Background: Inappropriate posture in children while playing some string instruments can cause back pain and alterations of the spine. To date, there is no research on the effect of exercise on children who play a musical instrument, although it is known that transversus abdominis muscle control through the Pilates method has shown pain reduction and posture improvement in this population. Objective: To assess the effectiveness of the Pilates method combined with therapeutic exercise with respect to therapeutic exercise exclusively in reducing pain and improving postural alignment in children playing string instruments applying a protocol of low dose to increase children’s adherence to training. Methods: A randomized controlled pilot study was designed with two parallel intervention groups. Twenty-five children (10–14 years old) were randomized in two intervention groups: Pilates method with therapeutic exercise (experimental) and therapeutic exercise (control) for 4 weeks (50 min per day, one day per week). Two assessments were performed (before and after treatment) to assess back pain and shoulders and hips alignment using a visual analog scale and the Kinovea program. Results: Statistically significant differences were obtained for pain reduction before (p = 0.04) and after (p = 0.01) playing the instrument in the experimental group. There were no significant changes in alignment improvement in any of the two groups. Conclusion: The application of a low dose of the Pilates method combined with therapeutic exercise could be a beneficial intervention for pain reduction before and after musical practice in children who play string instruments.

Abstract: The aim of this study was to design and validate a scale of attitudes towards the natural environment among Spanish teenagers. 72 items were generated from the writings of 264 adolescents on attitudes towards the environment. Through expert judgement and a pilot study, a depuration was carried out, reducing the scale to 9 items that were administered to a sample of 833 adolescents of both sexes. By means of an exploratory Factor analysis, two dimensions were identified, proximal attitude and distal attitude, which were replicated through a confirmatory analysis whose results showed a good fit to the data. Reliability indices were adequate and with respect to validity significant relationships were obtained with empathy with the natural environment in its two dimensions, cognitive and emotional, and school adjustment. Significant gender differences were also found in distal, but not proximal, attitudes. Results obtained are analysed and the importance of this scale in environmental research in adolescence is also highlighted.

Guided by the IDEA model, this pilot study analyzes the perceptions about coronavirus (COVID-19) messages created to be distributed to the Latinx community in the United States. This study has been conducted to test the research questions proposed and the instruments so a second study can be executed based on Latinx populations in Florida communities. A survey was distributed among students from different ethnicities. A comparative analysis was run with the responses from the students who identified as Latinx and the students who identified as non-Latinx. The results demonstrated that components such as internalization, explanation, and action are present in the messages distributed to both groups. The results also showed that only two dimensions of the IDEA model's components demonstrated significant differences between both groups. This research suggests that message tailoring could improve message effectiveness within each area of the IDEA model.

The article describes the method of individual correction of the morphofunctional state of students engaged in shaping. It is noted that the main content of classes in groups is the implementation of specially designed programs in which the duration of classes in classical shaping is 60 minutes: warm-up (4-5 minutes), main (45-50 minutes) and final (3-5 minutes) parts. It was found that the peculiarity of the beginning of shaping classes is a change in the nature of music and exercises performed in different parts of the class: different in pace, rhythmic pattern. This helps to maintain emotional mood, interest in classes. Harmonious physical development is an important condition for human health. Chronic diseases are often the cause of various disorders of physical development, especially in children and adolescents, leading to a decrease in total body size, defects of the musculoskeletal system, postural disorders, the shape of the chest, legs, feet. At the same time, favorable socio-economic and sanitary-hygienic living conditions improve physical development, reduce the incidence of both children and adults. Physical education classes, in particular shaping classes, are also important. In addition, it is known that the best way to form a culture of body and movement - is athletic gymnastics, shaping, aerobics and dancing. Especially wide direction. Athletic gymnastics in shaping is an integral part of the training system. In contrast to the conventional, athletic gymnastics in shaping solves problems that are aimed mainly at the problem parts of the body of those involved.

ing two correlated but distinct dimensions of enjoyment. In total, 277 individuals (female = 108) aged between 18 and 53 years (M = 35.66; SD = 7.42) participated in the study. The unidimensional model solution displayed good fit. However, the exploratory structural equation modelling specification considering two correlated but distinct dimensions of enjoyment showed a better fit. This study was the first attempt to examine the possible existence of two dimensions within the eight-item PACES measure. The distinct aspect of the current research is to emphasize the complex and constant process of instrument validation. Scales should be viewed as a continuous process, and future methodological procedures will increase our understanding of instrument examination with more innovative statistical approaches.

This pilot study aimed to explore the effect of solution-focused group counseling intervention on Internet addiction among college students. Eighteen college students participated in this study, out of which nine subjects were assigned into the experimental group and the rest (n = 9) to a control group. The experimental group received group counseling for five weeks, while the control group did not receive any intervention. The revised version of the Chinese Internet Addiction Scale (CIAS-R) was used to capture pre-test and post-test excessive use in the two groups. The experimental group was also subjected to a follow-up test and self-reported Internet addiction scores six months after the end of group counseling. Results showed that after the five-week solution-focused group counseling, the scores of four dimensions of the CIAS-R in the experimental group had CIAS-R decreased, and the reduction trend of the total score of CIAS-R was similar across all subjects in this group. The treatment effect was larger than the placebo reduction in the control group in two dimensions: compulsive and withdrawal (Sym-C & Sym-W) and tolerance (Sym-T) symptoms. Qualitative research confirmed the conclusions from the quantitative data, showing that the experimental group reduced its Internet addiction symptoms. Overall, the findings suggested that solution-focused group counseling had positive intervention effects on Internet addiction.
