Our cultural sphere is characterized by decreasing the importance of physical activity in the context of sedentary lifestyle. It results in increasing the importance of regular sports and physical activities as an integral part of the active responsible approach to life that supports good health and the overall physical and mental condition of the individual. A major contribution to this field is to promote physical activities at all levels of our educational system, including the university environment. Based on the evaluation of the public inquiry, the Department of Physical Education and Sport at VŠB – Technical University in Ostrava seeks to increase the attractiveness of the offer of sports activities for its students.

Abstract. This study is based on the experience of a coordinated interdisciplinary project around the content of acrosport involving three subjects (individual physical activities; competitive and collaborative physical activities; artistic-expressive physical activities) that form a part of the Physical Education module of the Primary Education Teaching Degree at the University of Zaragoza, Spain. There were two objectives: i) To identify significant differences in the grades obtained by the students in the three integrated subjects that comprised the project. ii) To analyze the evaluation and opinions of the students regarding the value of the subjects, the individual work and the acquisition of transversal competences. The study group was made up of 66 students with an average age of 22.9 years. There were 34 men and 32 women. All the participants were studying the Physical Education module of the Primary Education Degree at the Zaragoza University Faculty of Education. The teachers involved with the module designed a rubric to assess the acrobatic gymnastics project. To understand students’ opinions regarding the project, a questionnaire was designed. The results of the grades given to the students by the teachers showed significant differences in the three subjects. The results of the evaluations given by the students were lower for the subject of artistic-expressive physical activities. The students gave very high scores for the evaluation of individual work and the acquisition of transversal competences.

The university is a learning context, where the students are responsible for making their own decisions and controlling their own learning process and the interactions that intervene in it. Not only that, in degrees such as Primary Education, the progress of learning does not depend only on an individual, but on the joint effort of a peer group, whose performance is reflected in the individual learning. Thus, the objectives of this paper have been to establish how the concept of group work is developed and the strategies that are put in place to carry it out according to their satisfaction. The participants of this research have been 523 students of the Degree of Primary Education of the University of Murcia and the University of Jaen. To this end, a Likert questionnaire has been used, with the results of which a comparison has been established between the students who start the degree in Primary Education and those who already have several years of experience in the university environment. The main results and conclusions confirm that the students develop a concept of group work that remains stable over time. However, the usefulness that they believe that group work brings can change, influenced by the demands of the context. Additionally, when students are satisfied with the work of their group, they rely more on their own skills and abilities to build their knowledge.

The use of smartphones, despite being mainly social, has begun to be implemented in the university environment as a tool for working in class and for communication between students regarding teaching material. However, before creating teaching methodologies that use these devices, it is important to know the opinion that the students have of them. Our objective was to analyze the personal and academic use of Smartphones by Health Sciences students from different Universities. With this objective, a form was created consisting of sociodemographic questions and the Questionnaire on perceptions and attitudes towards learning through mobile devices (CPAAM). Subsequently, a descriptive analysis of the results was carried out. In total, 233 students participated. Our results showed that the personal is the largest use of Smartphones in these students, while the perception of their educational use is relatively low. Obtaining these data is a starting point for future analyzes that associate the use of these devices with the individual situation of the student, as well as for the effectiveness of the implementation of new learning methodologies.

The creation of a University Press is a prerequisite for raising the reputation of the Medical University - Plovdiv. With its significant scientific output and the large number of students, it will represent the face of the University in front of the scientific communities and will be an important element of the national and international interuniversity communication. By documenting the individual qualities of the teachers, knowledge is preserved and its development is assisted, thus meeting the public demands. Without a developed publishing activity, it is difficult to evolve the creative potential of teachers and students. The University Press, on the one hand, is a real participant in the learning process, as it facilitates students' access to books as well as novelties in science. On the other hand, it is also a natural center of university life.

The location of this research is the university, through which we are progressively channeled into a seemingly insoluble Gordian knot. What is our participation in the university and what cultural and human commitments inform this participation? More trivially, what rights and duties does the individual acquire or lose within his or her academic identities? Our main target was finding an ideal organizational practice to examine, such as an emergency event. What strategy can the university adopt? Can it realign its distortions and retain its resources? How and in what ways? What information is needed for this purpose? Which actors are relevant in this process? A systemic survey model is, therefore, presented to analyze data obtained from a sample of 200 respondents from various academic groups, including students, professors, administrative staff, and other stakeholders. Quotas were used for the primary challenge posed by the pictures representing dimensions according to a systemic schema of organizational effectiveness (OE). Respondents were then asked to judge the dimensions and pictures against their personal capacity for intellectual identity, functionalism, and materialism. During the test, the participants were expected to develop their capacity to approach phenomenal consciousness and the search for its neural correlates, thereby becoming familiar with the high-order demands and challenges posed by the current information available to them. A nine-item interval behaviorally anchored rating scale (BARS) was used to develop a systemic matrix that could show the participants’ collective OE when an emergency event occurs at the university. This study aims to stimulate a broader investigation into the preparation of programs and plans that should be a priority today in the context of sustainability in educational institutions, thereby setting useful thresholds on decision-making paths. To develop the collective model, a matrix generated by each respondents’ dimensional modal values (DMVs) in the test and the overall samples’ modal values (OMMVs) were used. Borrowing from Luce’s theory of probability, we analyzed the similarity of the OE university matrix from the results in descending order, restricting our attention to modal values which were chosen for the test and demonstrate how the learning model was formulated to assume that each group with evolved behavior could respond adaptively to a conditional function thanks to its permanence in a university environment.

“Romanism and Evolution. Remarkable Advance. No Special Creation.” “Father Zahm on the Six Days of Creation.” “Father Zahm on Inspiration.” “Father Zahm Honored with a Private Audience by His Holiness.”1 During the final decade of the nineteenth century religious periodicals and secular newspapers alike chronicled the growing fascination of the American Catholic community with the public debate over the latest theories regarding the evolution of species. One figure in particular, John Augustine Zahm, a Holy Cross priest and professor of chemistry and physics in the University of Notre Dame, captured many of the headlines and captivated Catholic audiences with his sophisticated, clear expositions of the various theories in the post-Darwinian controversies and with his repeated assurances that the idea of evolution, properly understood, posed no obstacle to the faith of the individual Catholic.

Students who starts university in a new and often different city suddenly find themselves in a different academic and social environment. This new life differs from their past experiences in terms of educational experiences, human relations and social life. This descriptive study investigates the adaptation levels of first year nursing students of two different public universities in Izmir, Turkey at the beginning of the academic year and aims to determine the factors affecting their adaptation. The research data were obtained from 125 students enrolled in the nursing department of these universities by using a questionnaire. The data collection tools consisted of socio-demographic form and the University Life Scale. Numbers and percentages, ANOVA, and independent sample t test were used in the analysis. 75.2% of the students included in the study were female, and their mean age was calculated as 9=18.9±1.10. 55.2% of the students voluntarily chose the nursing department. The rate of students who made a university selection for the first time was 97.6%. The students were found to have the highest mean score in the "adaptation to the university environment" subscale and the lowest score in the "academic adaptation" subscale. The mean scores of adaptation to the university environment, adaptation to relationships with the opposite sex, and total adaptation were found to be higher for the students who opted for the profession willingly than those who did not and this difference was found to be statistically significant (220.202±36.43, p<0.05). The findings indicate that willful selection of the profession, the level of education of the mother, profession of the father, parents' living together, economic status, and living with the family are the variables that affect the adaptation of the students to the university life. Preparing university adaptation programs by taking the individual, social and cultural characteristics affecting the adaptation into account and tailoring the guidance and consultancy services based on student needs may facilitate successful adaptation.
