Additive manufacturing technology or 3-dimensional printing has been used since ages in various fields including medical. Their addition to dentistry is recent and has tried to revolutionize the field. It is being used in various fields of dentistry like endodontics, prosthodontics, orthodontics, oral and maxillofacial surgery and recently in periodontics and Implantology. With introduction of recent “layer-by-layer” additive technology, their use in periodontal field has changed its treatment planning. It is use in preparation of customized scaffold with or without stem cell therapy, ridge augmentation, sinus lift and guided implant surgery, implant fixtures, education models, drug technology and many more. This review has tried to explain the various applications of the additive manufacturing in the field of periodontics with recent evidences. This paper highlights the role of 3-dimensional printing which can change the future of periodontal management.

The pathology of the oro-maxilo-facial territory comprises a vast chapter of diseases with primary or secondary infectious etiology, the mouth being the natural cavity of the organism with the most varied and variable flora of bacterial contamination. By the continuity solutions created by the mechanical act of mastication, decubitus of defective prosthetic works, local dento-periodontal infectious processes, but especially of dental or small-scale interventions, open gates and possibilities of penetration into the blood circulation of the microorganisms, which cause the transient bacteria. The study included 243 randomly selected patients, with the address of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic in the period 2016-2018. The inoculation of microorganisms in the oral cavity in circulating blood as a result of oral surgery or dental care procedures is much more common than in other areas of the body. Aggressive dental maneuvers that create solutions of continuity of oral mucosa, gingiva, periodontal surgery, periodontal surgery techniques can cause bacteria.

 Serratiopeptidase, a proteolytic enzyme derived from Serratia E-15 species enterobacteria, is widely used in medical field for its anti-inflammatory, anti-edemic properties, and analgesic properties. It is being used commonly in various specialties such as orthopedics, otolaryngology, gynecology, surgery, pulmonology, ophthalmology, and dentistry. Research has shown that serratiopeptidase is the most effective anti-inflammatory agent compared to other enzyme preparations. This article reviews the efficacy, safety, and applications of serratiopeptidase in oral surgery. This article also discusses the mechanism of action of serratiopeptidase, its contraindications and complications. From the recently published literature, it is clear that the role of serratiopeptidase as a therapeutic agent in oral and maxillofacial surgery is expanding and they hold a promising future as a broad-spectrum anti-inflammatory drug with minimal side effects and complications. Further, research will broaden their applications in the field of medicine and dentistry.
