Breast cancer has been a growing problem for women around the world. The correct interpretation of mammographic images is important for the diagnosis of breast cancer. However, this is a difficult task even for a specialist. Image processing is used to make the diagnosis less susceptible to errors. Thus, the present work proposes a new method for the search of lesion candidates in mammographic images. To verify the efficiency of the approach, the behavior of the SURF, SIFT, BRISK and ORB algorithms were analyzed, as well as the Selective Search algorithm for candidate selection. A total of 1210 mammography images were used, from the CBIS-DDSM database. Results show that the SURF algorithm presented better performance, generating on average, for each image, 4.11 candidates considered in the internal area of the lesion, reducing exploratory space by 72%, whereas the ORB generated on average 1.6 candidates with a reduction rate of 96.30%.

In machine vision defects detection of pharmaceutical blister packaging, the traditional defects detection algorithms always do the binary image processing and edge feature extraction and other operations, and then locate the analysis image through these features. These operations are very tedious and inflexible. In this paper, the shape template matching algorithm is applied to pharmaceutical blister packaging defects detection. The algorithm can determine whether there is a positioning region of the sheet or pieces missing through search algorithm to locate the template image and comparing the difference of gray value between the detection region and the template region. This paper packaged the software of pharmaceutical blister packaging machine vision defects detection via the professional image processing library of Halcon and visual programming software Visual C++. Detection case demonstrates the feasibility and effectiveness of detection algorithm and system.

A common gynecological disease in the world is breast cancer that early diagnosis of this disease can be very effective in its treatment. The use of image processing methods and pattern recognition techniques in automatic breast detection from mammographic images decreases human errors and increments the rapidity of diagnosis. In this paper, mammographic images are analyzed using image processing techniques and a pipeline structure for the diagnosis of the cancerous masses. In the first stage, the quality of mammogram images and the contrast of abnormal areas in the image are improved by using image contrast improvement and a noise decline. A method based on color space is then used for image segmentation that is followed by mathematical morphology. Then, for feature image extraction, a combined gray-level cooccurrence matrix (GLCM) and discrete wavelet transform (DWT) method is used. At last, a new optimized version of convolutional neural network (CNN) and a new improved metaheuristic, called Advanced Thermal Exchange Optimizer, are used for the classification of the features. A comparison of the simulations of the proposed technique with three different techniques from the literature applied on the MIAS mammogram database is performed to show its superiority. Results show that the accuracy of diagnosing cancer cases for the proposed method and applied on the MIAS database is 93.79%, and sensitivity and specificity are obtained 96.89% and 67.7%, respectively.

Advances in camera technology and digital instrument control have meant that in modern microscopy, the image that was, in the past, typically recorded on a piece of film is now recorded directly into a computer. The transfer of the analog image seen in the microscope to the digitized picture in the computer does not mean, however, that the problems associated with recording images, analyzing them, and preparing them for publication, have all miraculously been solved. The steps involved in the recording an image to film remain largely intact in the digital world. The image is recorded, prepared for measurement in some way, analyzed, and then prepared for presentation.Digital image acquisition schemes are largely the realm of the microscope manufacturers, however, there are also a multitude of “homemade” acquisition systems in microscope laboratories around the world. It is not the mission of this tutorial to deal with the various acquisition systems, but rather to introduce the novice user to rudimentary image processing and measurement.

Breast Cancer is one of the most common types of malignancy among Indian woman currently. The current increase in the world wide prevalence of this disease suggests an urgent need of detailed analysis, diagnosis and treatment line through Ayurvedic principles. As cancer is least understood in technical terms of Ayurveda, Nidana Panchaka a basic tool to understand and diagnose a Vyadhi, is used to analyze it. Even though a direct diagnostic correlation of breast cancer is not available under the major Vyadhi classifications, it is possible to elicit and formulate Nidana Panchaka based on the references of Sthana Roga, Shopha, Granthi, Arbuda etc. The current article is an effort to formulate Nidana Panchaka for Breast Cancer, from the background of basic principles of Ayurveda, for a better analysis and diagnosis of the Vyadhi.

The incidence and severity of obesity are rising in most of the world. In addition to metabolic disorders, obesity is associated with an increase in the incidence and severity of a variety of types of cancer, including breast cancer (BC). The bidirectional interaction between BC and adipose cells has been deeply investigated, although the molecular and cellular players involved in these mechanisms are far from being fully elucidated. Here, we review the current knowledge on these interactions and describe how preclinical research might be used to clarify the effects of obesity over BC progression and morbidity, with particular attention paid to promising therapeutic interventions.

The article is devoted to breast cancer, a common cancer among women around the world. The level of awareness of applicants and employees of the Kharkov State Academy of Physical Culture regarding risk factors and clinical features of breast cancer, as well as self-examination procedures was analyzed. It has been proven that the formation of a culture of prevention of breast cancer through self-observation and self-examination of young Ukrainian women can save human lives, since raising public awareness and gaining practical knowledge will certainly change the fate of many people.
