Hieracium zajacii Szeląg is described from the Vel'ká Fatra Mts in Slovakia. It is the first representative of H. lycopifolium agg. to be found in the Carpathians. The new species is tetraploid (2n = 36) and reproduces apomictically. Its origin is briefly discussed.

AbstractHieracium vierhapperi (Zahn) Szeląg, known so far only from the Alps, was discovered in the Nízke Tatry Mts in Slovakia, as a new species to the Carpathians. Diagnostic characters, illustration and distribution as well as ecology of H. vierhapperi in the Nízke Tatry Mts are given. A key to distinguish H. vierhapperi from the morphologically related species is added. The Carpathian plants are tetraploid (2n = 36) and reproduce apomictically. The origin of H. sect. Cernua R. Uechtr in the Western Carpathians is briefly discussed.

Taranucnus Simon, 1884 is a small Holarctic genus of the spider family Linyphiidae that contains only five species (WSC, 2018). In Europe and in Ukraine it is represented by three taxa: T. setosus (O. P.-Cambridge, 1863), T. bihari Fage, 1931 and T. carpaticus Gnelitsa, 2016 (WSC, 2018). The type species of the genus is T. setosus, widely distributed in the Palaearctic, T. bihari is known from a few localities from the Carpathians within Poland, Slovakia, and Romania (Nentwig et al. 2017). Recently, T. carpaticus was recorded from the two mountain massifs (Gorgany and Chornohora) of the Ukrainian Carpathians (Gnelitsa 2016). In this paper a fourth European species, Taranucnus beskidicus new species, is described.

A new species of the TipulasubgenusMediotipula is described from the south-eastern part of Albania, south-eastern Europe. Morphologically, the new species is most similar to T. (M.) stigmatella Schummel, 1833, but differs mainly with respect to males, having a distinctly shaped posterior margin of tergite 9–10, a widened outer gonostylus and a series of details of the inner gonostylus (anterior end of the anterior arm, shape of the posterior arm), as well as having more bulbous and rounded hypogynal valves in the females. Further morphological differences of the male terminalia between allopatric populations of T. (M.) stigmatella in the Carpathians and Balkans, south-eastern Europe, are discussed.
