AbstractThe insoluble, strongly hydrogen bonded organic pigment of 3,6-bis-(4-chlorphenyl)-l,4- diketopyrrolo [3,4-c] pyrrole was transiently blocked by adding carbamate groups, and consequently incorporated into organic-inorganic hybrid matrices by a sol-gel process. The homo- (pigment-pigment) and hetero-intermolecular (pigment-matrix) interactions were found to control both the assembly and dispersion of pigment molecules in the hybrid coating films. A weaker interaction between matrices and pigment molecules results in aggregation of the carbamate pigment in the methyl-silicate films. A stronger interaction forms a homogenous dispersion and coloration of the phenyl-silicate films. The as-prepared methyl- and phenylsilicate films doped with the organic pigment were distinguished by a morphology change and a blue (hypsochromic) shift in absorption from 550 to 460 nm. Thermal treatment can remove the carbamate groups and in-situ form the organic pigment in the hybrid films.

Z11A3M, Z6A3M, Z1.6A1.6M, Z1A1M and Z1M coating samples were prepared in HDPS by traditional continuous hot dipping method. The microstructure, element distribution and phase was analyzed by SEM, EPMA and XRD. The corrosion resistance was checked in SST. The result was, MgZn2 and eutectic could be found in all ZAM coating. The ZAM coatings showed excellent corrosion resistance in SST than GI. The corrosion resistance was 4.1 to 11 times of GI. There was no strong relativity between alloy composition and corrosion resistance due to Mg enrichment on the surface of coating. Edge-unsealed ZAM samples showed good corrosion resistance than edge-sealed sample.

Super-hydrophobic film with hierarchical micro/nano structures was prepared by galvanic replacement reaction process on the surface of galvanized steel. The effects of the etching time and copper nitrate concentration on the wetting property of the as-prepared surfaces were studied. Scanning electron microscopy/energy dispersive spectroscopy (SEM/EDS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and electrochemical technique were employed to characterize the surface morphology, chemical composition, and corrosion resistance. The stability and self-cleaning property of the as-fabricated super-hydrophobic film were also evaluated. The super-hydrophobic film can be obtained within 3 min and possesses a water contact angle of 164.3° ± 2°. Potentiodynamic polarization measurements indicated that the super-hydrophobic film greatly improved the corrosion resistance of the galvanized steel in 3.5 wt % NaCl aqueous solution. The highest inhibition efficiency was estimated to be 96.6%. The obtained super-hydrophobic film showed good stability and self-cleaning property.
