The authors rely mainly on the data from the fourth round of the European Social Survey held in 2008 in their comparison between the Russian basic values and the values of the 31 other European countries as measured by Schwartz Portrait Values Questionnaire. The authors start from comparing country averages. Then they compare Russia with the other countries taking into account internal country value diversity. And finally they refine cross-country value comparisons taking the advantage of the multiple regression analysis. As revealed from the study there are important value barriers to the Russian economy and society progress and well targeted cultural policy is needed to promote necessary value changes.

This research explores the assimilation of Islamic culture in Javanese culture in dhundhunan ceremony that is performed in Javanese moslem community living in Karangjompo, Tirto, Pekalongan, Central Java and the value changes in that ceremony. To achieve the aim of this research, observation and interview were done. It was found that there were some assimilations and value changes in that ceremony, i.e. prayers that were performed in that ceremony adopted Islamic culture like asking God for safety by reciting shalawat barzanji. Meaning of the symbols uborampe in that ceremony has been forgotten by them. They perform that ceremony only formally without caring about the meaning and feeling the magic values.

Purpose: a comparative analysis of long-term clinical and radiological outcomes of bilateral microsurgical decompression from unilateral approach and open fusion surgery in the treatment of patients with stable stage I lumbar degenerative spondylolisthesis complicated by spinal stenosis. Materials and methods: this study included 83 patients with degenerative stage I lumbar spondylolisthesis, combined with spinal stenosis at one/several levels. Bilateral microsurgical decompression from unilateral approach was performed in group A (n = 41), in group B (n = 42) we used transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion. Results: intraoperative blood loss and operation time significantly prevailed in group B (P < 0,05). Pain in the legs (VAS), Oswestry disability index significantly decreased in both groups in the long-term postoperative period. No statistical difference in these was found in groups A and B (P = 0,59; P = 0,10). Lower back pain in both groups at the follow-up period had a significant difference: in fusion group there was a significantly higher intensity, than in group А (P < 0,001). Assessment of radiological outcomes in group A at the level of spondylolisthesis showed a slight decrease in segment stability: an increase in anteroposterior displacement of the vertebrae by an average of 0,44 mm, the angular difference by 0,77°, an increase in displacement of the vertebral body by 1,30 % (P < 0,05). Conclusion: minimally bilateral microsurgical decompression from unilateral approach is an effective method for treatment of stable stage I degenerative lumbar spondylolisthesis, combined with spinal stenosis, allowing to achieve significant regression of leg pain and disability in the long-term postoperative period. And this method admits to significantly decrease of low back pain, then in fusion surgery, as well as a low risk of postoperative instability and reoperation with instrumentation.

The purpose of the study was to describe and analyze the dance movements of the Philippine folk dance Itik-itik. The researchers adopted the movement analysis method similar to that of Mackenzie that involves the (1) description of the actual movements which occur at the joints involved; (2) the plane in which the movement occurs; and (3) the muscles producing the movement (agonist & antagonist). In addition, similar to the study of Martin and Miller, the researchers also had done a mechanical analysis on the lever type involved in the execution of the dance movement in terms of force, axis, and resistance. Results revealed that the prominent dance steps in the Philippine local dance Itik-itik are the (1) running, (2) cross step, slide close, slide close step, (3) heel, close-ball, close arm, (4) step, slide-close, slide, (5) arms extension/flexion, and (6) flapping of the arms. The joints involved are the shoulder and hip muscle which are ball and socket type of joints; and elbow, knee and ankle which are hinge joints. The major muscles involved in the dance for the lower body include the quadriceps, hamstring muscle group, adductor muscle group, calves and gluts. While for the upper body muscles involved are the pectoralis major, latissimus dorsi, deltoid, trapezius, biceps, and triceps muscles. The type of lever used in performing the dance comprise majority of 1st class and 3rd class levers. By knowing the muscles involved in the dance the dance teacher may be able to devise activities to gradually prepare the prime mover muscles before the actual execution for injury prevention. Thus, the movements in the dance may improve the health and skill related fitness of the performers.

Variable pH values for skin have been reported in the literature, all within the acidic range, varying from 4.0 up to 7. 0. The origin of the acidic pH remains conjectural, and several factors have been incriminated with this role, such as eccrine and sebaceous secretions as well as proton pumps. Keeping low levels of pH prevents microbial dispersal as well as multiplication. The skin in the external auditory canal is also covered with this acidic mantle with antimicrobial value. Changes of pH in the external ear can lead to acute otitis externa. This condition is defined by the inflammation and infection of the cutaneous and subcutaneous tissues of the external auditory canal. 10% of the worlds population may suffer from acute otitis externa at least once in their lifetime. This paper aims to consolidate the relevance of an acidic pH in the healthy external ear and its relation to the pathogenesis and treatment of otitis externa through a prospective and interventional clinical study on 80 patients who presented to the outpatient department at Prof. Dr D. Hociota ENT Institute in Buch
