Corrosion inhibition effect of lamotrigine on steel in 1.0 M HCl and 0.5 M H2SO4 was studied by techniques like weight loss, polarisation, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Results indicated that lamotrigine is more competent in HCl than in H2SO4 and is justified by scanning electron micrographs. Protection efficiency increased with the concentration of inhibitor and decreased with temperature. Adsorption study revealed the comprehensive adsorption of lamotrigine molecules on steel surface.

08Cr2AlMo steel is a type of material developed especially for heat exchanger pipe bundle used under H2S condition in the recent years. In this paper, some researches were carried out on the stress corrosion cracking (SCC) susceptivity of 08Cr2AlMo steel in H2S water solution and the inhibition of imidazoline and diethylene triamine on the SCC by means of slow strain rate tensile test, scanning electron microscopy, potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The results indicate that 08Cr2AlMo steel is highly susceptible to SCC in saturated H2S solution for the fracture surfaces of specimen show typical quasi-cleavage fracture. The addition of both imidazoline and diethylene triamine into saturated H2S solution is effective on inhibiting the SCC. The inhibitors can reduce the potential of the cathodic hydrogen evolution, which prevents the penetration of hydrogen into the specimen effectively. Furthermore, inhibitors accelerate the formation of the chemically bonded film on the steel surface. It is also found that when the concentration of inhibitors is below 0.2%, there is no obvious inhibition effect on SCC, and the inhibition effect of diethylene triamine is better than that of imidazoline.

A new corrosion inhibior N,N-diethylammonium O,O-di (p-chlorophenyl) dithiophosphate (EDPDP) has been synthesized and its inhibition effect towards the corrosion of carbon steel in 1.0 molL-1 HCl solution at 25 °C has been investigated by potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) methods. The obtained results show that EDPDP is a excellent inhibitor and the inhibition efficiencies exceed 90 %. The polarization measurements reveal that EDPDP is a mixed type inhibitor and the equivalent circuit model of the corrosion inhibition process is obtained by the analysis of EIS data.

An epoxy paint containing PEDOT/PSS was described herein. The corrosion behavior of steel samples coated with the paint was investigated in seawater. For this purpose, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy was utilized and surface morphology of coatings after corrosion was observed using scanning electron microscope. It was found that the addition of small PEDOT/PSS to the epoxy resin increased its corrosion protection efficiency. Meanwhile, the possible mechanism was discussed.
