One of the major advancements applied to scanning electron microscopy (SEM) during the past 10 years has been the development and application of digital imaging technology. Advancements in technology, notably the availability of less expensive, high-density memory chips and the development of high speed analog-to-digital converters, mass storage and high performance central processing units have fostered this revolution. Today, most modern SEM instruments have digital electronics as a standard feature. These instruments, generally have 8 bit or 256 gray levels with, at least, 512 × 512 pixel density operating at TV rate. In addition, current slow-scan commercial frame-grabber cards, directly applicable to the SEM, can have upwards of 12-14 bit lateral resolution permitting image acquisition at 4096 × 4096 resolution or greater. The two major categories of SEM systems to which digital technology have been applied are:In the analog SEM system the scan generator is normally operated in an analog manner and the image is displayed in an analog or "slow scan" mode.

Variable success in audiometric assessment of young children with operant conditioning indicates the need for systematic examination of commonly employed techniques. The current study investigated response and reinforcement features of two operant discrimination paradigms with normal I7-month-old children. Findings indicated more responses prior to the onset of habituation when the response task was based on complex central processing skills (localization and coordination of auditory/visual space) versus simple detection. Use of animation in toy reinforcers resulted in more than a twofold increase in the number of subject responses. Results showed no significant difference in response conditioning rate or consistency for the response tasks and forms of reinforcement examined.

Abstract. Objective: Daytime urinary incontinence (DUI) is common in childhood. The aim of the study was to neurophysiologically analyse the central emotion processing in children with DUI. Method: In 20 children with DUI (mean age 8.1 years, 55 % male) and 20 controls (mean age 9.1 years, 75 % male) visual event-related potentials (ERPs) were recorded after presenting emotionally valent (80 neutral, 40 positive, and 40 negative) pictures from the International Affective Picture System (IAPS) as an oddball-paradigm. All children received a full organic and psychiatric assessment. Results: Children with DUI did not differ significantly from controls regarding responses to emotional pictures in the frontal, central, and parietal regions and in the time intervals 250–450 ms, 450–650 ms, and 650–850 ms after stimulus onset. The patient group had more psychological symptoms and psychiatric comorbidities than the control group. Conclusions: EEG responses to emotional stimuli are not altered in children with DUI. Central emotion processing does not play a major role in DUI. Further research, including a larger sample size, a more homogeneous patient group (regarding subtype of DUI) or brain imaging techniques, could reveal more about the central processing in DUI.

It is now accepted that older adults have difficulty recognizing prosodic emotion cues, but it is not clear at what processing stage this ability breaks down. We manipulated the acoustic characteristics of tones in pitch, amplitude, and duration discrimination tasks to assess whether impaired basic auditory perception coexisted with our previously demonstrated age-related prosodic emotion perception impairment. It was found that pitch perception was particularly impaired in older adults, and that it displayed the strongest correlation with prosodic emotion discrimination. We conclude that an important cause of age-related impairment in prosodic emotion comprehension exists at the fundamental sensory level of processing.

In the present paper, relying on event-related brain potentials (ERPs), we investigated the automatic nature of gender categorization focusing on different stages of the ongoing process. In particular, we explored the degree to which gender categorization occurs automatically by manipulating the semantic vs. nonsemantic processing goals requested by the task (Study 1) and the complexity of the task itself (Study 2). Results of Study 1 highlighted the automatic nature of categorization at an early (N170) and on a later processing stage (P300). Findings of Study 2 showed that at an early stage categorization was automatically driven by the ease of extraction of category-based knowledge from faces while, at a later stage, categorization was more influenced by situational constrains.

Komputer adalah serangkaian mesin elektronik yang terdiri dari jutaan komponen yang dapat saling bekerja sama, serta membentuk sebuah sistem kerja yang rapi dan teliti.Pada hal ini, perangkat keras komputer atau yang biasa disebut dengan “ hardware’ merupakan komponen atau unsur penyusun dari komputer. Sifat hardware dapat dilihat, disentuh secara langsung, dan bentuknya nyata. Perangkat keras ini juga memiliki fungsi untuk mendukung untuk jalannya proses kerja komputer agar mencapai tujuan utama. Berdasarkan fungsinya, perangkat keras (hardware) dibedakan menjadi 5 sistem, yaitu: yaitu perangkat masukan (input device system), perangkat keras pemprosesan (central processing system), perangkat keras keluaran (output device system), perangkat keras tambahan (peripheral/ accessories device system) dan penyimpanan data (external memory). Seluruh sistem perangkat keras saling bekerja sama dan memiliki masing-masing fungsi yang berhubungan untuk memenuhi tujuan komputerisasi. Perangkat keras atau hardware bekerja sesuai dengan perintah yang ditentukan.

Perkembangan IT di dunia sangat pesat, mulai dari perkembangan sofware hingga hardware. Teknologi sekarang telah mendominasi sebagian besar di permukaan bumi ini. Karena semakin cepatnya perkembangan Teknologi, kita sebagai pengguna bisa ketinggalan informasi mengenai teknologi baru apabila kita tidak up to date dalam pengetahuan teknologi ini. Hal itu dapat membuat kita mudah tergiur dan tertipu dengan berbagai iklan teknologi tanpa memikirkan sisi negatifnya. Istilah Hardware komputer atau perangkat keras komputer, merupakan benda yang secara fisik dapat dipegang, dipindahkan dan dilihat. Central Processing System/ Central Processing Unit (CPU) adalah salah satu jenis perangkat keras yang berfungsi sebagai tempat untuk pengolahan data atau juga dapat dikatakan sebagai otak dari segala aktivitas pengolahan seperti penghitungan, pengurutan, pencarian, penulisan, pembacaan dan sebagainya.
