Introduction: There is a lack in the awareness in the fruit and vegetable (F&V) recommendation among Saudi society. Although the known facts of the benefits of F&V on health, information on Saudi society following the advised recommendation whether by WHO or local is still unknown. Aim: This cross- sectional study aim to examine the perception of F&V intake among students and staff at Umm Al-Qura University and to assess if they follow these recommendations of F&V locally and internationally. Method: Students and staff from Umm Al-Qura University participated in this study (n= 98, age between 18- 55). All data were collected using short online survey via Online survey - Survey Monkey in 2019. Result: 55% students and staff were not aware about these recommendations whereas 45% were aware about WHO recommendation. The majority of students and staff 53% have less than two portions a day of F&V. Only 14% have between two to four portions a day. 32% do not eat any portion of F&V daily. 59%, 14%, 5% of students and staff who believe that they should have five, seven, more than seven portions a day for being healthy respectively. Maintaining health, reduce the risk for chronic disease and providing essential vitamins and minerals to the body were all reasons why students and staff believe that they should have F&V everyday by 71%. Busy lifestyle, F&V cost, lack of the awareness about the health benefits, dislike the taste, some F&V spoil easily were all factors affecting eating F&V daily. Conclusion: People need educational and nutritional campaigns to spread the awareness about the health benefits of F&V. Most importantly the ministry of health should support those campaigns to increase people awareness and build a healthy society with a good habit. PurposeThe COVID-19 pandemic lockdown has caught many educational institutions by surprise and warranted an abrupt migration from offline to online learning. This has resulted in an education change, without any time for due consideration, as regards its impact on musculoskeletal disorders (MSD) on students. The purpose of this study is to investigate MSD related to online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown.Design/methodology/approachA cross-sectional study was conducted on undergraduate students in India. In total, 261 students participated in this online survey.FindingsThe study finds that around 80% of students have reported some symptom in the head, neck and eyes since they started online learning. In total, 58% have reported MSD symptom in the right shoulder and 56% in the right hand fingers. Besides, more than 40 % of students experienced some MSD symptoms, in almost all the body parts studied, due to online learning. Correlation analysis is conducted between time spent on online learning per day and MSD symptoms.Originality/valueThis is the first study conducted on MSD and online learning during COVID-19 pandemic.

OBJECTIVE: Thhis study aimed to investigate the reason why people choose to consume less vegetable and fruit through examining how the stage of change and psycho-social parameters relate to vegetable and fruit intake. METHODS: We carried out a cross-sectional study in 4 regions of Japan in which 2308 individuals (1012 men and 1296 women) aged 18 years or older who completed the questionnaires were included in the study. RESULTS: The results showed 56% of the participants were in the precontemplation stage (not thinking about consuming recommended amount of fruit and vegetable) and their average amounts of vegetable and fruit intake were far below the level of current recommendations, and subjects in the precontemplation stage showed lower scores of attitude and self efficacy. Men were more likely to be in precontemplation (67.7%) and less likely to be in action/maintenance stage (7.9%) than women (46.9%, 12.1%, respectively) (p < 0.001). We also observed the scores of attitude (p = 0.06) and self-efficacy (p < 0.01) rose as the stage went up from the precontemplation to action/maintenance for increasing vegetable and fruit intake. Moreover, a linear trend was found toward higher vegetable (p < 0.05) and fruit (p = 0.121) intake from precontemplation to action/maintenance stage. CONCLUSION: The present evidence suggests more attention should be focused on strategy for perceptions of personal need for recommended amount of vegetable and fruit intake for those who are in the precontemplation stage. Moreover, effective programs on enhancement of self-efficacy and attitude toward vegetable and fruit consumption are needed for increasing the vegetable and fruit intake.

AbstractObjectiveTo examine characteristics potentially associated with school lunch fruit and vegetable waste, both overall and pre/post implementation of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act.DesignMulti-year (2010–2013) cross-sectional study using pre- and post-meal digital photographs of students’ school lunch trays to estimate fruit and vegetable availability and consumption. Fruit and vegetable items were categorized for factors suspected to impact waste: prior farm to school years, placement (main menu, salad bar), procurement (local, conventional), preparation (cooked, raw) and meal component (entrée, side, topping). Analyses to assess within-category differences in waste volume were performed using a Tobit model.SettingWisconsin elementary schools participating in farm to school programmes, USA.SubjectsChildren in third to fifth grade.ResultsMany within-factor differences were detected overall and/or across time. Cooked fruits were wasted less than raw, while cooked vegetables were wasted more than raw. Where identified, locally sourced items were wasted more than conventionally sourced (+0·1 cups, P<0·0001) and salad bar items more than main menu items (+0·01 cups, P<0·0001). Increasing prior farm to school years decreased waste (−0·02 cups, P<0·0001). Items previously tried were wasted at the same volume whether reported as liked or not. New school lunch meal pattern requirement implementation did not uniformly impact fruit and vegetable waste across all categories and there was no change in waste for seven of fifteen assessed categories.ConclusionsMany factors impact elementary students’ school lunch waste. These factors may be helpful for school food-service authorities to consider when planning school menus.

(1) Background: Dance teachers (DT) are dependent on their functional body. Pain can hardly be avoided during the professional practice of dance. Pain can become so intense that it impairs, or even prevents, the professional practice. The aim of this study was to identify the determinants of pain intensity of the most severely affected body regions of DT in pain during the three-month period prior to the survey. (2) Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted by an online survey. A total of 166 DT participated in the study; 143 of the DT were in pain during the three-month period and were included in the analysis. Using multiple linear regression, the determinants of pain intensity were identified from population parameters, occupational data, pain localisation, and temporal pain course. (3) Results: Regions of the lower extremity and head/trunk regions were most frequently indicated as the body regions with the most severe pain. The multiple regression model generated with the factors “functional impairment”, “biomechanical exposure”, and “pain at rest” explains a statistically significant, moderate proportion of the variance in pain intensity (R2 = 0.22, F (3, 106) = 10.04, p < 0.001). (4) Conclusions: Intensity of pain in DT seems to be related to the physical demands of professional practice.

AIM: This research was carried out to evaluate the awareness of eating in students studying at the college and to determine the factors affecting it. METHOD: This cross-sectional study, which was carried out in students of a district faculty and vocational school with 1750 students, was applied to 330 students face-to-face with a random sampling method. Eating awareness and affecting factors were examined and the factors examined by single analyzes were resolved by multiple linear regression. RESULTS: In the study group, 66.5% of whom were women and approximately half of them were in 1 class, the factors affecting eating awareness were found to be increased by not using alcohol, seeing the body as normal or weak and making applications to lose weight. In the study, it was determined that the awareness of eating classes, exercise, smoking status and anthropometric measurement differences did not affect eating awareness. CONCLUSION: Alcohol use and studies on improving the body perceptions of people should be done in applications aimed at increasing awareness of eating.

Abstract BackgroundPrevious studies have shown that hyperuricemia is involved in diabetes, obesity, hypertension, chronic kidney disease, and other diseases. At the same time, studies have shown that vitamin D3 levels in the body are linked to the onset of diabete. However, there is currently no sufficient evidence to prove whether this connection is affected by uric acid levels. Therefore, we attempted to investigate the relationship between vitamin D3 content and the occurrence of diabetes in the hyperuricemia population by using the data of the NHANES database from 2009 to 2018.MethodWe conducted a cross-sectional study using the NHANES database. According to strict inclusion and exclusion criteria, we finally selected 3543 representative data. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to explore the relationship between vitamin D3 and diabetes in the hyperuricemia population after complete adjustment. We found a linear relationship between vitamin D3 content and the incidence of diabetes.ResultThe results of this study showed that there was a correlation between the content of vitamin D3 and the incidence of diabetes in people with hyperuricemia, and the effect values (OR and 95% confidence interval) were 0.95and (0.92-0.98), respectively, and the difference was statistically significant.ConclusionOur study shows that vitamin D3 content is associated with the incidence of diabetes in people with high uric acid. This study provides a new idea for exploring the factors affecting the pathogenesis of diabetes in patients with hyperuricemia.

COVID-19 is a pandemic that has occurred since the beginning of 2020 which began in the city of Wuhan in China. In principle, the virus cannot enter the body if you have good immunity. Indonesia had reached the highest mortality rate of around 9.11 percent on Saturday, April 4, 2020. The purpose of this study was to find out what are factors in accelerating the healing of COVID-19 patients. This type of research is quantitative analytic with a correlational research design using a cross-sectional study approach. This research will be conducted in the isolation room of the Kampar River Puskesmas inpatient in October-November. The results of the study stated that there was a relationship between sex and the acceleration of healing of COVID-19 patients with a p-value of 0.013 <0.05, there was no relationship between community support and accelerated healing of COVID-19 patients with a p-value of 0.079> 0.05, there was a relationship between family support. with the acceleration of healing of patients COVID-19 with p-value 0.009> 0.05, there is a relationship between mental burden by accelerating patient recovery COVID-19 with p-value 0.011 <0.05, there is a relationship between degenerative diseases by accelerating patient recovery COVID-19 with p-value 0.001 <0.05 and there is a relationship between comorbidities and the acceleration of healing in COVID-19 patients with a p-value of 0.029 <0.05.

The human–animal relationship is an important welfare parameter in animal welfare assessment in cows, and the avoidance distance of cows to a stranger at the feed bunk is measured to assess this relationship. The assessment of the human–animal relationship in cow shelters in India, where old, unproductive, and abandoned cows are sheltered, is important to explore the welfare of cows in these shelters. The cows observed were of indigenous Indian breeds and breeds which were crosses between indigenous breeds and pure bred exotic cows. The human–animal contact in this context is of particular interest for welfare assessment as traditional Indian farming and sheltering systems involves regular close human–animal contact. In a cross-sectional study across 6 states, 54 cow shelters were visited and 30 cows in each shelter were randomly selected (1620 in total) for the assessment of avoidance distance and other cow-based (27 parameters) and resource-based (15 parameters) welfare parameters. Avoidance distance was assessed 1 h after morning feeding. Cows standing at the feeding manger were approached from the front at a rate of one step/s, starting 2 m away from the manger. The distance between the assessor’s hand and the cow’s head was estimated at the moment the cow moved away and turned its head, using a four-point scale (0, touched; 1, 0–50 cm; 2, 51–100 cm; and 3, >100 cm). The majority, 52%, of the cows allowed touch by the assessor and another 32% allowed approach within 50 cm, demonstrating tolerance, or even solicitation of close human–animal relationships by the cows. Avoidance distance increased with the proportion of cows with dirty hind limbs, tarsal joint swellings, and hair loss, and the extent of rumen fill. There was also evidence of reduced avoidance distances in cows with high levels of body condition score (BCS), dirty flanks, tarsal joint ulceration, carpal joint injuries, diarrhoea, hampered respiration, lesions on the body due to traumatic injuries, and body coat condition, probably as a result of moving difficulties. The avoidance distance was thus related to the health and welfare of the cows, providing a vital insight into the factors affecting human–animal contact in the shelters.

The COVID-19 outbreak, caused by Sars-Cov-2, was officially declared a global pandemic in February 2020, after an unexpected increase in hospitalization and mortality. When faced with this new disease, social and physical distancing and quarantine emerged as solutions to reduce virus transmission. This article examines the quality of life (QoL) of the Brazilian population’s during this period of isolation, due to the COVID-19 pandemic by analyzing; physical, psychological, social, and economic aspects. An online survey was distributed from 27 May to 14 August of 2020. A total of 1859 surveys were completed. Our results indicate that Brazilians were more affected by economic and social aspects than psychological and physical. Unemployed participants and individuals who tested positive for COVID-19 presented the lowest QoL. Females showed worst QoL scores than males, but having children did not influence the score. Higher educational level was associated with a better perception of QoL. Not following social distancing guidelines presented better scores in the psychological domain than the ones following restrict or partial social distancing rules. This study is the first to evaluate adults’ QoL related to the Sars-Cov-2 pandemic in Brazil at a national level. Our data may help health authorities identify the main factors affecting the QoL of the Brazilian population, thereby orientating them to recover after the pandemic.

Background: For patients with prolonged bed rest and immobilization because of motor or consciousness disorders, many factors may contribute to the development of pressure ulcers. To this end, the present study aimed to investigate the frequency of pressure ulcers and the factors affecting the development of this condition in intensive care units (ICUs). Methods: In this descriptive cross-sectional study, the case files and records of patients hospitalized between March 2017 and March 2018 entered the study using the census method. The necessary information including age, gender, location of pressure ulcers, number of ulcers on each part of the body, length of stay in ICU, and underlying diseases was extracted from the files and recorded in the data checklist. In the end, the extracted data were analyzed with SPSS 25. Results: Of the 781 patients studied, 71 (9.1%) had pressure ulcers, of whom 34 were men and 37 were women. A statistically significant difference was found between men and women in terms of the incidence of pressure ulcer (p = 0.0013). The most common sites of pressure ulcers were buttock with 34 cases (47.9%) and sacrum with 21 cases (29.6%). Conclusion: Old age and prolonged stay in ICU are important determinants of the development of pressure ulcers.
