Purpose: Considering the importance of the internationalization of micro and small enterprises (MSEs) for the national economic growth, this study was conducted in order to determine the possible impact of individual entrepreneurial orientation (IEO) on export intention in MSEs through the moderating effect of access to finance. Methodology: This research consists of a survey of 150 agriculture farm owners from Nepal conducted in January 2020. The researchers used SmartPLS as a research tool to analyse the data. Results: The results of this study indicate that out of five dimensions of IEO, only autonomy has a positive significant effect on export intention, whereas access to finance had no moderating role in the effect of IEO on export intention. Conclusion: Overall, this study provides profound insight about IEO in the context of a less developed country like Nepal and also sheds light on Nepalese farm owners’ IEO and their intention to export.

In this study the authors tried to identify mediating role of innovation and moderating role of size of enterprise in the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and performance of Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs). The researchers also investigated the effect that vary from enterprise size that basically means micro and small enterprises. For the purpose of this study data was collected from 384 MSE's operating in Punjab province. Initially the data was analyzed using SPSS 22 and later on for the development of structure equation modeling Smart PLS-3 was used. Only two aspects of entrepreneurial orientation have been analyzed; first one is risk taking and second one is pro-activeness, third most common aspect innovation has been taken as mediating variable as an enterprise cannot be innovative if it has not the capacity of risk taking and pro-activeness. These both aspects are attached to performance and also deals with innovation. The major contribution of the study is to identify any moderating effect of size of the enterprise over the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation, innovation and performance of MSEs. These elements basically show the contribution that is made by the innovation and performance of the MSE's. The objectives of the study were achieved, and it was found that there is no difference between performance of MSEs on the basis of entrepreneurial orientation and innovation. It is proved that the size of the enterprise is not the factor. The linkages found are affected by size of the enterprises.

The research objective was to analyze the determninant factors of Entrepreneurial Orientation (EO) in the Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) of the traditional food centers in Bandung. It used the EO dimension at the organizational level. Five dimensions were used to measure the EO level, namely risk-taking, innovativeness, competitive aggressiveness, proactiveness, and autonomy. The questionare’s was distributed to eight MSEs in Bandung. The sample size is 100 employee Structural Equation Model (SEM) analysis techniques with Partial Least Square (PLS) was used to test the samples. This research shows that the EO level in the micro and small enterprises in the traditional food centers in Bandung is at a moderate level. Although EO of MSEs in the traditional food centers in Bandung is in the moderate category, the results of testing on the EO model find out that each EO dimension forms a significant EO construct. The four dominant and recommended dimensions forming an EO construct in MSEs are risk-taking, innovativeness, competitive aggressiveness, and proactiveness. Among the four dimensions, risk-taking is the dominant dimension. It indicates that courage in taking risks in MSEs is a natural characteristic of the EO in the traditional food centers in Bandung.

Abstract Purpose The purpose of this study was to explore determinants that influence women entrepreneurs’ performance in micro and small enterprises in Gondar city, Northwest Ethiopia, and in turn contribute to entrepreneurship-related literature mainly in developing countries. Design/methodology/approach The study employed an explanatory research design with agreement of primary data collection via a cross-sectional survey questionnaire followed by quantitative research approach. The sample of this study was 180 women entrepreneurs and selected using random sampling technique. Findings The findings of this study revealed that educational level, previous entrepreneurial experience, access to business training, access to finance, access to business information, government support, land ownership, and tax are significant in explaining women entrepreneurs’ performance in one hand. On the other side, however, age, marital status, access to market, and access to physical infrastructure are found to be insignificant variables in determining women entrepreneurs’ performance. Research limitations/implications The study used one time data for determinants like level of education, previous working experience, age, and profitability of the enterprise. Thus, due to frequent change in such variables, the study may not reflect the dynamics of the data, which would have a convincing influence on the conclusion. In addition, the research has only consisted of 180 samples. Moreover, such number may not represent the whole population of the entrepreneurs of Ethiopian MSEs. In future research, it is advisable to expand study factors, use interviews as a research tool, and make a comparison between women and men entrepreneurial performances. Practical implications The paper might serve as an input for officials to consider such determinants and encourage an environment that increases women entrepreneurs’ performance. In addition, the study might help women entrepreneurs in addressing the factors affecting performance to take actions towards improving their performance and in turn contribute to job creation, wealth, innovation, and poverty alleviation. Originality/value This study contributes to the literature on the determinants of women entrepreneurs’ performance in micro and small enterprises. Specifically, it tests the impact of educational level, age, marital status, previous entrepreneurial experience, access to business training, access to finance, access to business information, access to market, access to physical infrastructure, government support, land ownership, and tax on the performance of women entrepreneurs.

Access to finance is considered as very important for gaining high performance of Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs). Yet it has been observed that despite the availability of access to finance the performance of several MSEs is poor, which is a major hurdle in the growth rate of MSEs. The purpose of this study was to find the difference in certain performance indicators of MSEs who owners have been given training against those whose owners have never been given any kind of training. In order to conduct study survey research has been conducted and a sample of 384 MSEs was selected on simple random basis. The findings revealed that all the performance indicators including sales increase, income increase, assets increase, employment increase, and meeting household expenses have shown a significant difference among the two groups. The findings of the study are very important for the policy makers and the people who are involved in microfinance industry.

The main objective of the underline study is to examine the influence of entrepreneurial orientation (EO) on financial and non-financial performance of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with the moderating role of access to finance. Because SMEs—due to fair reasons such as lack of resources and lack of managerial skill—are often unable to succeed in their mission, the managers look for much less risky and convenience factors to compete in the market. A variety of factors has been tested but the role of finance in this perspective has received minor attention. Hence, the underline study tested finance as a moderator between firm resources and their performance. To test the model, a structured questionnaire is used to collect data from 326 Pakistani SMEs. Structural equation modelling in AMOS is used to test the hypotheses. Our finding suggests that EO significantly enhances SME’s financial and non-financial performance in emerging economies. On the other hand, access to finance significantly moderates the relationship between EO and SME’s financial performance while it is not significantly moderating between EO and non-financial performance. This research recommends policymakers and practitioners to focus on accessing adequate finance while Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Development Authority encourages banks and financial institutions to facilitates SMEs. Furthermore, the possible implications have been discussed.

Organizations depend on their ability to formulate, implement and evaluate strategies effectively in order to make better use of their resources and capabilities to achieve and maintain competitive advantage. Regarding micro and small enterprises (MSE), which mortality levels are significant, those capacities are fundamental conditions for their survival and growth. Considering the lack of a more robust method of measuring strategic capability for this type of companies, this study proposes a Strategic Capability Index (SCI) for MSE. The research population was composed of companies located in the state of Ceará, Brazil, from a sample of 196 companies. By means of the application of a second order Confirmatory Factorial Analysis, it was possible to propose the factored index in five dimensions: Strategic Approach; Strategic Tools; Strategic Relations; Analysis of Environments; Strategic Processes. The SCI for MSE in the organizations analyzed in Ceará was low, implying the relative lack of competitiveness of these organizations.

The management environment at MPEs in the tourism sector at Brazil: a systematic review ABSTRACT Micro and Small Enterprises MSEs in the tourism sector are present in most municipalities and represent an important segment for generating employment income. Research on the MSEs are justified both because of the representation of micro and small enterprises in the sector, as the incipient further studies on the environmental management of these organizations. In this line, the consolidation of a theoretical framework about the MSEs management of the accommodation industry environment in Brazil is presented as an issue that raises many questions, namely: what features are most present in these organizations, there is sensitive differentiation as the regionalism of organizations, which management tools are most discussed, there are groups or prominent institutions in this concept, among other factors. To do this, from the consolidation of a decade of academic publications, direction and conceptual gaps this research sought to identify which characteristics are present in the conceptual framework about the MSEs management environment accommodation industry in Brazil. This research was configured as exploratory, which was held from academic publications selected in the last 10 years in regular bases listed in the latest update of Qualis/CAPES system of 2015 (SPELL, SCIELO, EBSCO, CAPES Periódicos e DOAJ). For this they used the IRAMUTEQ software in conjunction with the Software R, free tools, developed with technology "open" and collaborative, to process the lexical data about the MSEs of the management environment of the Brazilian hosting industry. The survey results suggest, from their uniformity, a possible lack of research groups and academic institutions of reference in the development of research on the MSEs management environment accommodation industry in Brazil. Register the presence of a set of characteristics of entrepreneurial orientation in the management of these organizations environment.
