This study explores the antecedents and consequences of customer engagement behaviors in the Thai mobile network business. This study found that the approach to switching behavior and cross-buying behavior is connected to customer loyalty behaviors. However, the spending behaviors of customers may not be a good indicator of customer loyalty in the mobile network business because those who do not have the intention to switch to another brand do not necessarily increase their spending. In addition, most respondents are concerned with competitive promotional packages, which influence customer engagement behaviors. Hence, it was proposed that service quality and competitive promotional packages are antecedents to customer engagement behaviors and all these factors are important in explaining customer loyalty toward mobile network providers in Thailand.

Purpose The purpose of this study is to investigate the influential factors of customer loyalty to Islamic banks, namely, service quality, customer satisfaction, customer engagement and religiosity. Design/methodology/approach This study is a survey of 335 Islamic bank customers in West Sumatra, Indonesia. This research deployed purposive sampling and analyzed the data by using covariance-based structural equation modeling. Findings Service quality has a positive and significant impact on customer satisfaction. Religiosity has a significant and negative moderating impact on the service quality–customer satisfaction relationship. Service quality has no significant influence on customer loyalty. Customer satisfaction is a significant antecedent of customer engagement and loyalty. Finally, customer engagement has a significant and positive effect on customer loyalty. Research limitations/implications This study is a combination of cross-sectional and a single-country case. Accordingly, the results may not be representative of other countries. Similar studies in longitudinal data collection are conducted in other countries (e.g. ASEAN countries), which would therefore be worthwhile. Some antecedents of customer loyalty have been neglected in this study (e.g. customer value co-creation and customer commitment); hence, the future study may investigate those factors. Practical implications By considering these Islamic banks’ antecedents, the Islamic banks might enhance their customer loyalty. Also, this study has revealed the moderating role of religiosity in a loyalty relationship. Therefore, it will give insights for the Islamic bank managers in decision-making. Originality/value This study has revealed the moderating role of religiosity on the link between service quality and customer satisfaction in Islamic banks, which is, to the authors’ knowledge, neglected in the previous studies. The customers with high religiosity will have a higher standard of satisfaction and demand a better service quality than the customers with low religiosity. This study has also examined the relationships between service quality, religiosity, customer satisfaction, customer engagement and loyalty as a whole, which have been limited previously.

The study examined the determinants of customer satisfaction in MTN Ghana Limited. The variables of concern were customer expectation, relationship quality, perceived value, perceived quality, and customer loyalty. The American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) model was adapted as the main framework for analyzing customer satisfaction. Data for the study came from a systematic random sample of 377 MTN mobile subscribers, employing questionnaires. Two managers of the mobile network were interviewed on issues related to their CRM systems. Multiple regression analyses were used to examine the relationship between customer expectation, relationship quality, perceived value, perceived (product/service) quality, customer loyalty, and customer satisfaction. The results of the multiple regression indicated that significant positive relationship existed between customer satisfaction and perceived (product/service) quality, relationship quality, and customer loyalty, but not for other variables such as customer expectation, customer complaint, and perceived value. The implications are that MTN Ghana should consider the perceptions of customers on product/service quality, the level of relationship quality and loyalty when managing relationships with customers. The company should put measures in place to build and maintain quality relationships with customers, and also improve the quality of products and services offered to customers. Again, there is the need for management to bridge the gap in their perception of relationship quality and that of customers.

In this study, we develop and test a full model examining several antecedents and consequences of impulse buying behavior for urban consumers in Vietnam, an Asian transitional economy. The hypotheses are empirically tested using survey data obtained from consumers in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. The results of structural equation modeling show support for most of our hypotheses. The findings indicate that shopping enjoyment tendency and modern self are significant predictors of impulse buying, while traditional self is not found to have an impact on this buying behavior. Impulse buying is found to be positively related to customer satisfaction, and subsequently, to customer loyalty. The research findings are discussed and implications for managers and policy makers are provided.

We propose a conceptual framework that includes the antecedents and consequences of firms’ adopting and integrating robotics into their customer service operations. Drawing insights from literature on customer service, technology marketing, and computer science, our proposed framework elaborates on the concept of the degree of robotics adoption (DRA) as well as the antecedents (employee acceptance of robots and customer acceptance of robots) and multiple sequential consequences (service quality, customer long-term performance, and customer engagement) of DRA. We also discuss how the nature of the firm (Business to Consumer versus Business-to-Business, i.e. B2C vs. B2B), service characteristics (utilitarian vs. hedonic), and brand positioning (low equity vs. high equity) might moderate the relationship between DRA and service quality. Further, we provide actionable guidance for managers to adopt and integrate robotics into their customer service operations.
