The limited battery energy is an important consideration in the effective operation of an Ad- hoc network. We propose a protocol named as Energy Saving Multi Directional Routing (ESMDR) that provides a lower energy cost effective routing solution. The performance evaluation of our protocol is carried out using a statistically collected data over Dynamic Source Routing (DSR) and Ad-Hoc On-Demand Distance Vector (AODV) protocol. Analysis exhibits a clear edge over the existing protocol.

The control and transmission of huge data constitute an immense challenge in various types of networks (wired and wireless). Congestion caused by the high traffic and low throughput of huge data continues to be major problems in a heterogeneous platforms such as internet of things (IoT) technology and internet-of-robotic-things (IoRT). The heterogeneous network requires new models and mechanisms to deal with the increased challenges posed by IoT and IoRT. Accordingly, eliminating the issues that emerge has compelled finding improved solutions as a new strategy. This study proposed a new strategy called routing information and distance vector (RIDV) to create the best improvement of a heterogeneous network. The RIDV strategy activates the routing information protocol (RIPv2) on a router in wire network parallel with the ad-hoc on-demand distance vector (AODV) protocol on the wireless network. The RIDV strategy is used to solve the problems of the diversity of heterogeneous networks as the basis of the infrastructure IoRT technology. Hence, this strategy can reduce or avoid congestion through the use of enhanced and effective best routing protocols. Simulation results using OPNET show that the proposed method improved the quality of service (QoS) compared with other related strategies and AODV and RIPv1 protocols in terms of data drop, traffic drop, queue delay, and throughput.

In order to effectively manage the communication nodes in Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET), it is important to know the topology of such networks. Traditional Ad-hoc On-demand Distance Vector (AODV) protocol can not get the MANET topology due to the lack of the topology discovery mechanism. Aiming at this problem, an enhanced topology discovery algorithm based on AODV (AODV-TD) is proposed. AODV-TD can not only obtain the topology of dynamic network by topology discovery request, but also realize route discovery among nodes. Finally, the proposed algorithm is implemented on a hardware platform using CC1100, and the experiment results show that, even the network changes dynamically, AODV-TD can still discover the network topology rapidly and accurately, so that contribute to reducing the route discovery time and the RREQ forwarding packets.

Video streaming is content sent in compressed form over the netwoks and viwed the users progressively. The transmission of video with the end goal that it can be prepared as consistent and nonstop stream. The point is that to give client support to client at anyplace and at whatever time. Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANETs) are considered an attractive nertwork for information transmission in many applications where the customer programme can begin showing the information before the whole record has been transmitted. Ad hoc On-demand Distance Vector (AODV) protocol is considered as one of the most important routing protocols in MANET. However, routing protocols assume a crucial part in transmission of information over the network. This paper investigates the performance of AODV Routing Protocol under video traffic over PHY IEEE 802.11g. The protocol model was developed in OPNET. Different outcomes from simulation based models are analyzed and appropriate reasons are also discussed. A different scenarios of video streaming were used. The metric in terms of throughput, end to end delay, packet delivery ratio and routing overhead were measured. A comparision with GRP and GRP are also reported.

Mobile Ad-hoc Network (MANET) is a kind of wireless network that has the most challenging network infrastructure. It is formed using the mobile nodes without any centralized administration from the security perspective and is a self-configuring fastest emerging wireless technology, each node on the MANET will act like a router which forwards the packets. Dynamic nature of this network makes routing protocols to play a prominent role in setting up efficient route among a pair of nodes. Dynamic Source Routing (DSR) and Ad-hoc On-Demand Distance Vector (ADOV) is a reactive MANET routing protocols. Most of the attacks on MANETs are routing protocol attacks. Attacks on routing protocols, especially internal attacks will cause the damage to MANETs. Sinkhole and black hole attacks are a type of internal attack which is affected by attempting to draw all network traffic to malicious nodes that fake routing update and degrade the performance of the network. The black hole nodes should be detected from the network as early as possible via detection mechanism and should also guarantee the higher detection rate and less cross-over error rate. In this paper, we studied the characteristics of black hole attack and how it will affect the performance of the distance vector routing on demand routing protocol such as (ADOV) protocol, which recognizes the presence of black hole node from packet flow information between nodes and isolates it from the network via applying AODV protocol that one of popular routing protocol. We have evaluated the performance of the system using widely used simulator NS2, results prove the effectiveness of our prevention and detection method.

In Ad hoc On-Demand Distance Vector Routing (AODV) protocol, numerous control messages consume a large quantity of the network resources, which deteriorates the effectiveness of AODV. In this paper, Fuzzy Velocity-based AODV (FV-AODV) is proposed for improving the reliability and effectiveness of AODV in wireless mobile ad hoc network (MANET). According to the velocities of network nodes, FV-AODV adaptively adjusts the HELLO_INTERVAL, which is the transmission time interval of two successive HELLO messages. The simulation results demonstrate that the reliability and effectiveness of FV-AODV are improved comparing with AODV.

Mobile Ad-hoc Network (MANET) is a mobile network which has a large scale of self-directed nodes which is powerful to form a short-term means of communication network, without any use of prior communications. Due to its uniqueness like partial resources, varying loops and shortfall of controlling the networks, these networks are exposed to diverse network layer issues. The “Ad hoc on demand distance vector” is a self-starting directing procedure whose security is compromised with the distinct form of attack named as “Black-Hole” and “Grey Hole” attacks. This “malicious node” publicize as such, it contains the supreme track to the target during the route discovery process and thus interrupt the real communication and corrupt network performance. This paper introduces a new method in which a base node is introduced in the network that increases the probability of detecting multiple malicious nodes in the network and further separate them from taking part in any communication. It detects the corrupted nodes and prevent it by causing an effect for the communication. The proposed method has been experimented using NS2 and the results found to be efficient.

In this article performance analysis of MANET under rushing attack has been performed. It is mainly focused on the analysis of the effect of Rushing attack in MANET. Ad-hoc On-Demand Distance Vector (AODV) routing protocol is considered as the routing protocol of MANET. This paper will analysis the various results that how the attackers affect the performance of the routing protocol in the MANET. Network Simulator NS2 (2.35) is taken as simulation tools for simulation purpose. Various node densities are considered as simulation parameters, which are used for analysis of AODV protocol under Rushing Attack. Analysis of performance is based on Control Overheads, Normalized Routing Overheads, Delay and Throughput.

In recent years, Mobile ad hoc networks ((MANETs) have generated great interest among researchers in their implementation under several computing environments. However, MANETs are highly susceptible to various security attacks due to their inherent characteristics. The ad hoc on demand distance vector (AODV) is most suitable routing protocol for mobile adhoc networks in which resource consumption attacks are frequent if it is not detected timely. In this paper, we have proposed a scheme to detect as well as overcome black hole attacks using an Intrusion Detection System (IDS). The proposed scheme is implemented using network simulator 2(NS2) to compare its performance against the standard AODV with and without attack. The results of the simulation show that proposed scheme optimizes the end-to-end delay, normalized routing load, packet delivery fraction and average throughput in comparison with AODV protocols under black hole attack.
