Abstract The main goal of this study is to research the impact of enrolment in Graduate Programmes (GPs) on a set of Basic Education2 and High School3 teachers in Portugal. We seek to understand whether teachers consider this training as an added value, and the extent to which this is reflected in the improvement of their professional performance, in the schools, and in their students’ learning. Preliminary research results show, among other aspects, that the reasons why teachers enrol in GPs are associated mainly with personal fulfilment issues. Moreover, despite the fact that both teachers and school leaders recognize the importance of GPs, they acknowledge that there are still few effects.

During importation processes of concepts, the target context and the agents involved in these processes are central and shape the imported ideas. Hereby, translation, both in its narrow and broader senses, plays an important role. The aim of this article is to present preliminary research results on the importation process of the concept ofnationinto the Ottoman/Turkish culture as the target culture. The article provides research results gained from the analysis of dictionaries as well as of texts written by important figures of Turkish nationalism during the last decades of the Ottoman Empire. The research covers first-hand analysis of key texts by Yusuf Akçura and Ziya Gökalp whereby the use of the concept of ‘nation’ by other key figures are discussed on the basis of secondary sources. The analysis also includes translations. This study, which is linked to a study on the concept of ‘culture,’ was based on an interdisciplinary approach relying on the perspectives and notions of translation studies and on methodology developed in conceptual history. The theoretical framework and methodology adopted in this study are exposed in the first part, whilst the second part presents and discusses the research results.

Self-assessment of health is an important factor determining caring for health, expressed by health behaviours. Lifestyle and health behaviours play a key role in shaping health as well as the risk of many diseases and mortality. This article presents preliminary results of research on self-assessment of health and caring for health among men active on the labour market. A total of 130 men were surveyed with a questionnaire developed for this project. Men rated high their health and caring for health, and defined these concepts correctly. They had substantial knowledge on health and caring for health. However, this was theoretical knowledge only. It is necessary to examine their health behaviours.

Through the presented variant it is intended, to achieve a new configuration of multiarticulated system. This new conformation, ensure displacement after a spatial trajectory, and it can be successfully used in the construction of industrial robots, but also in the articulated mechanical arm construction for the transport of materials, or manipulation of certain loads, in hardly accessible areas. The proposed solutions for multiarticulated system are viable, some of them already being inspired by literature existing in the field. The original solutions that will be experienced have a good support already in preliminary research results achieved [1,2]. The new multiarticulated system has a high rigidity and the clearance from transmission system is completely eliminated, ensuring premises for obtaining of high accuracy positioning. The structure of the new multiarticulated system is much simplified, and it is concretized by suppleness of the robot arm, leading to reduced the manufacturing costs.
