It is accepted by most agencies that enterprise education is important for students and for the economy, however it is often difficult to measure the effectiveness of this education as effects can take many years to be shown. We have collected qualitative data from over 300 alumni entrepreneurs, reflecting on their time at the Univeristy of Manchester, which suggested that their experiences of enterprise education were mixed and that they would have benefitted from more practical courses rather than more academically interesting topics. For example they wanted training on how to register a company, understanding tax, employment law and basic book keeping, rather than how to generate ideas and theories of innovation and entrepreneurship. There is a clear need to shift some enterprise education to cater for those who have an idea now and need practical advice, or may have an idea in the future from their subject area and need to know how to proceed formally. On curricular courses are more likely to be academically and theory driven, especially with the need to provide appropriate assessment for students, whilst it is often the extra curricular activities which provide more practical details in how to start a business, which may not be open to all students, or may not be well advertised. Since many students don’t start a business until later in life, with activity peaking in the 35-60 year old age group, they often do not take advantage of  these opportunities while at university, should they be available. Our paper shows there needs to be a better mix of practical with academic courses to provide for alumni entrepreneurs’ needs to allow them to start a business whether it be straight form university or later on in life.

We compared data from an enterprise course aimed at scientists and engineers using the Unit Evaluation Questionnaire, coursework marks and qualitative feedback quotes with the aim of identifying any issues for embedding enterprise and entrepreneurship units in science and engineering degrees. Enterprise courses in many universities are often offered as units within other degree programmes which fulfill chartered bodies requirements for enterprise education and for employability. Whilst broadly accepted to be successful, others have reported students views on enterprise education be mixed as they feel its out of their comfort zone, and some are not open to studying units outside of their main subject, however we found student results and satisfaction to be at least as good as faculty and departmental norms. Qualitative comments suggest despite initial misgivings, they enjoy applying their subject knowledge to entrepreneurial issues and appreciate it not being a generic course. Students were not adversely affected by different assessment techniques and performed similarly to departmental/faculty averages. We found that it was key for courses to be tailored to science and engineering students such as by allowing a company from their subject area for their assignments and giving science examples which gave better engagement and feedback.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine the impact of enterprise education on students’ understanding of and attitudes to entrepreneurship and enterprise education in initial teacher education. Design/methodology/approach This paper builds on current literature by introducing student teachers to the theory and practice of entrepreneurship and enterprise education, with a particular focus on experience based approaches. Quantitative and qualitative data are used to evaluate student understanding and attitudes. Findings Findings indicate that exposing student teachers to entrepreneurship and enterprise education specifically targeted at their subject area greatly increases their understanding of its importance and relevance. Students developed their ability to think and act in enterprising ways while recognising the benefits of incorporating enterprise education into their classrooms of the future. Originality/value While literature on the value of entrepreneurship and enterprise education outside of business contexts is widespread, relatively few studies have been conducted which examine the impact of interventions in initial teacher education. This paper provides a unique look at the implementation of an entrepreneurship in education module and its impact on student teachers.

To retain international competitiveness, many companies are currently facing an enormous pressure to innovate. To withstand this pressure, organizations are increasingly using external sources of innovation. Therefore the importance of networking with other firms within the supply chain has risen sharply in recent years. The use of Activity Theory (AT) to underpin Information Systems (IS) research continues to increase. However, many challenges are implicitly associated with the theory. Access to the qualitative data needed is a significant issue. Other challenges emanate from the lack of examples or know-how, which discourages postgraduate students from selecting the theory, even though AT would have been the most appropriate approach for their research. This study was carried out from two perspectives: (i) qualitative data collection; and (ii) the use of AT as lens in qualitative IS research. The interpretivist approach was employed. The semi-structured technique was used to collect the data. The analysis of the data was conducted by following the hermeneutics technique from the interpretivist approach perspective. Based on the analysis of the data, two models were developed. The first model is intended to guide data collection, while the latter focuses on the use of AT to guide the analysis and interpretation of data in IS research.

Subject area Services marketing, Market segmentation, Ethnography. Study level/applicability Postgraduate programs, Master in Strategic Marketing and Master in Business Administration. Case overview One of the signs of an increase in religion awareness of Indonesian society is a high demand on Musholla in public area. While other shopping malls just provide a normal standard room for prayer, Senayan City has become a pioneer in introducing an excellent facility of a prayer room. In services marketing, one of the substantial matters to consider is physical evidence, or in other words service setting or servicescape. Musholla is one of the intangible aspects, which depicts services in shopping malls in Indonesia. There are three variables that distinguish visitors' types, such as time spent, liturgical compliance level and concerns for cleanliness/hygiene. Expected learning outcomes The objective of this case study is to give deeper comprehension about services marketing to students in a practical way. This case study illustrates that a company is capable of creating a strong brand by acknowledging consumer needs and providing extra benefits. Besides, students are also required to analyze diverse consumer needs as each segment has its own needs. The use of ethnography as an approach shows that such a contemporary method can capture dynamic behaviours and deeper insight on consumer needs. ABSTRACT The diversity of tribes, religions, races, and between groups for the Indonesian people is a strength to build a great nation. The younger generation's understanding of the cultural diversity of Indonesia is fading due to the impact of globalization, so an education program for love of the homeland is needed. One of the educational programs is the Student Know the Archipelago Program which is sponsored by a company that is part of a State-Owned Enterprise (BUMN) conducted by PT. Pertamina in Papua Province. The purpose of this research is to know about implementing Corporate Social Responsibility through the student program to know Nusantara by PT Pertamina (Persero). The research method used is a descriptive study with qualitative data types through data collection techniques conducted utilizing interviews, observations, and literature studies. The results showed that in the planning phase of PT Pertamina SMN CSR program which refers to the concept of Hohnen shows there is still some inconformity implementation of CSR program due to the condition of Papua area that has limitations in access to information and communication. This limitation can make the lack of a valid CSR program SMN 2018 held by PT. Pertamina (Persero) in campaigning for the diversity of Indonesian culture. Simpulan showed that PT.
