How does? Market power effect the consumer purchase attention and buying behavior? To answer our research question in hypothetically and significant important perspective of price increase, we illustrate that (i) when the price increase is due to cost of goods sold consumer price fairness observation will decay with market power (ii) this fairness issue increase due to greater awareness of controllability of the firms with high market power (iii) when the price increase is not in the control of firms (and in this way saw as similarly reasonable for firms. with high and low market power). In our research above, predictions are empirically supported through quantitative studies of the survey. To address the research problem, we collect the data through convenience sampling from the consumers of Retail outlets. Our findings highlight how firm market power and pricing strategies influence the consumer awareness of price unfairness and the firm’s competition in the retail marketplace.

Construction business is still considered as a prominent business in the entire cities in Indonesia, including Yogyakarta. Contractors compete to get project either by tender or direct order. Both methods will certainly affect the price offered by the contractors. The research aims to understand how big the price gap between tender method and direct order for architectural works along with the work quality and the owner’s satisfaction. Furthermore, several buildings in Yogyakarta become the sample of this research. The research data were collected using questionnaire, direct assessment, as well as direct interview with the contractors. The data obtained were analysed descriptively and statistically using SPSS software. The price gap between tender and direct order is 0,42% more expensive tender. On the tender method, the unit price increases followed by the increase in quality and user satisfaction. On direct order work, the price increase is followed by the increase in quality but decreased satisfaction.

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to investigate an alternative, more basic explanation for stock price increases among the Standard & Poor's 500 Index following a stock buyback announcement than the signaling theory offered in current literature. Methodology: Three related sets of data were collected and analyzed for 1,858 individual S&P 500 stock buyback announcements occurring during the period 2005-2015: First, the actual stock prices for 6 different times from the buyback announcement date (t) to one year after (t+365); second, the S&P 500 Index for the same dates; and third, the mathematical price of the stock resulting from the reduction in buyback shares. Results: The results demonstrate that the greatest contributor to the post-buyback-announcement share price increase is due to the combination of general market moves (S&P 500 Index) and the mathematical reduction in shares occurring from the buyback.  No support is found for the signaling theory. Implication: This research presents a conceptually yet empirically supported framework to describe the significance of the mathematical reduction in shares as a contributing factor in the post-buyback-announcement share price increase as compared to alternatives offered in the current literature. This paper is particularly useful for those who study stock market behavior and the causes of the share price increase that follow a stock buyback announcement.

Rapid technological changes have forced postal operators to adapt their services to the needs of the information society, exploit new business opportunities, and pay more attention to emerging and rapidly growing direct and indirect competition. The main goal of the article is to provide an answer to the question Do we have to digitalize postal services? The objectives of the article are as follows: defining of the postal ecosystem concept; defining of postal e-services; developing an action proposal approach for the operator designated to create a digital ecosystem of the postal service. Therefore, it is necessary to survey postal operators regarding the digitalization of the economy and postal e-services. The survey should focus on individual customers, businesses and telecommunications market experts. The survey covered postal e-services supplied by the designated operator in Poland. Its assessment has been based on variables which have major impact on the perception of postal e-services. These variables include: scope of e-services, regulatory framework (security), competitiveness, telecommunications infrastructure, advancement of e-services, innovation level, and digital awareness and digital skills in the society. In order to meet these objectives, the article refers to the essence of the ecosystem as a solution to the research problem. Additionally, studies on postal e-services have been presented, which enable to develop an action proposal to strengthen the position of the postal operator in the postal ecosystem. The article is based on studies that use various research methods, such as critical analysis of scientific literature, synthesis and generalization, Delphi method, versatile benchmarking and graphic visualization. Additionally, findings of studies on e-services have been presented to cover the European Union, as well as solicit opinions of individual and business clients and telecommunications market experts in Poland. This enables to develop an action proposal designed to strengthen the position of the postal operator in the postal ecosystem. The study has delivered an answer to the research question. Thus, the authors can confirm that it is necessary to digitalize postal services.

Abstract Sumaila, U. R., Teh, L., Watson, R., Tyedmers, P., and Pauly, D. 2008. Fuel price increase, subsidies, overcapacity, and resource sustainability. – ICES Journal of Marine Science, 65: 832–840. Global fisheries are currently overcapitalized, resulting in overfishing in many of the world’s fisheries. Given that fuel constitutes a significant component of fishing costs, we expect recent increases in fuel prices to reduce overcapacity and overfishing. However, government fuel subsidies to the fishing sector reduce, if not completely negate, this positive aspect of increasing fuel costs. Here, we explore the theoretical basis for the expectation that the increasing fuel prices faced by fishing enterprises will reduce fishing pressure. Next, we estimate the amount of fuel subsidies to the fishing sector by governments globally to be in the range of US$4.2–8.5 billion per year. Hence, depending on how much of this subsidy existed before the recent fuel price increases, fishing enterprises, as a group, can absorb as much as this amount of increase in their fuel budget before any conservation benefits occur as a result of fuel price increases.

This article discusses issues related to organizational commitment and work related values. The research problem focuses on the correlation between values related to professional work and the affective, normative and calculative commitment of employees. A research question was posed as to what work related values are correlated with organisational commitment. The article presents the results of an empirical study conducted on a group of 2076 people with the use of a diagnostic survey. The obtained data were analysed relative to the gender and age of the respondents. The results indicate certain discrepancies in terms of the value hierarchies observable between employees of different ages. Both men and women selected work-life balance and security as their most important values. The level of commitment was comparable between representatives of the two genders, with the levels observed for normative commitment. Organisational commitment increased with age and was statistically different for the respective age groups. The study confirmed the correlation between the hierarchy of work related values and the level of commitment, as well as the discrepancies in this respect between the respective age and gender groups. The same suggests that there is a need to account for values held by the employees when developing and employing motivational systems and HR practices.

In this chapter, the authors will analyze the concept of competencies and their importance as a driver for global trade growth. The relevance of this research is based on the approach to theories of organizational innovation articulating them with the theories of competencies development. To formulate the research problem, two analytical dimensions were considered: innovation and competencies anchored to the following research question, What are the innovation competencies that can boost global trade? Based on the literature review of recent research (2013-2017), the authors investigated and identified the competencies needed to develop a culture of innovation in organizations. The main goal of this study is centered on the research of more relevant competencies which can contribute to organization innovation processes and develop global trade.

This article aims to discuss the position of art and design artifacts, and their creation, in a practice-led research process.  Two creative productions and exhibitions featuring my textile artifacts were intentionally carried out in order to tackle a specific research problem, and these will be examined here as case studies.  These cases cover the production and exhibition of two sets of artworks, named Seeing Paper and Paper World, that were created as part of my completed doctoral research entitled Paperness: Expressive Material inTextile Art from an Artist’s Viewpoint. The study examined the relationship between a physical material and artistic expression in textile art and design.  Both cases exemplify the roles of creative productions and artifacts situated in the process of inquiry.  Throughout a practice-led research process, art and design artifacts can serve as inputs into knowledge production and as outputs for knowledge communication.  As inputs, both art productions and artifacts can be the starting point of a research project from which the research question is formulated.  They can also provide data for analysis from which knowledge is constructed.  Asoutputs, artifacts can indicate whether the research problem requires reformulation, demonstrate the experiential knowledge of the creative process, and strengthen the findings articulated in the written output.  Creative practice in a research context can contribute to generating or enhancing the knowledge which is embedded in the practice and embodied by the practitioner.  This knowledge or insight can be obtained from the artist creating the artifact, the artifact created, the process of making it, and the culture in which it is produced and viewed or used, all taking place at different stages of a research process.

This paper presents an analysis on price elasticity of demand for water as a consequence of price increases. The objective of this research study is to estimate the residential price elasticities of demand for water for different regions, which may have different income levels. The general conclusion is that price elasticity for residential water use is inelastic (i.e. a given percentage of price increase results in a proportionally smaller decrease in quantity demanded) and it varies by consumer class and type of water use. The elasticity is not significantly affected by demographic and other factors.

Subject Telecoms sector reform. Significance Ministers responsible for the telecoms sector have watered down the European Commission's proposals to reform the industry. Their moves coincide with a wave of consolidation among mobile operators at the national and regional levels, raising questions of whether the balance of EU policy towards the sector has swung against consumers or if these changes are necessary for the sector's long-term competitiveness. Impacts Consolidation will facilitate future investment, leaving the mobile telecoms sector better placed to develop next generation infrastructure. However, if recent mergers are any guide, most consumers can expect price increases in the short term. This may raise fears of a strengthening of incumbents' market power. National consolidation should be followed by European consolidation. However, this will only make sense if national governments agree to greater convergence of regulatory frameworks -- which looks unlikely.
