Ayurveda, the most ancient science means knowledge of life which serves mankind by providing a comprehen- sive, natural and holistic cure for diseases related to mind and body. The aim of Ayurveda is not only to treat the disease but also to protect the health of the healthy individual as said in the classics i.e., “swasthasya swasthya rakshanam aturasya vikara prashmanam ch”. Health in Ayurveda is defined as an accurate amount of Dosha, Dhatu and Mala. Any type of variations in quantity as well as quality leads to diseases. One of the dhatus i.e., Meda Dhatu is correlated with fat and lipid in modern science. This paper is about the method by which Meda Dhatu can be assessed according to Ayurveda. Keywords: meda, dhatu, swasthasya, assessment

Music entered deeply into the making of modern science because it was a crucial element of ancient natural philosophy, through which it thereafter remained active well into the formation of the “new philosophy” during the seventeenth century. The Pythagorean connection between music, numbers, and the sensual world remained potent in the quadrivium, the four-fold study of arithmetic, geometry, astronomy, and music that was the centerpiece of higher education until about the eighteenth century. This chapter surveys the ongoing connection between music and its sister sciences in the quadrivium from Plato and the Pythagoreans to Nicomachus and Boethius. The mythical story of Pythagoras in the blacksmith shop arguably represents the earliest recorded experiment, in the later sense of that word. Ancient Greek distinctions between number and magnitude were crucial elements in the unfolding interaction between arithmetic, geometry, and music. It has been said: ‘The Classics can be scrapped because of the advance of modern science.’ But, apart from the timeless values in the aesthetic and the moral spheres, we now have the amazing fact that in the realm of science itself, Nobel Prizewinners like Heisenberg and Schrödinger have been pleading for a return to the ancient Greeks; and that, too, in the most modern of scientific fields—atomic physics.

Abstract To oppose Secularism modern Christians depend on myths about the historical development of civilization. Such as the myth of a Christian America, imagining such things as that the United States Constitution was based on Biblical Christian principles. Parallel to this myth is another about science: that the Scientific Revolution, and therefore modern science, was based on Biblical Christian principles and could not have occurred (and therefore cannot continue) without them. Necessary to this are several false claims, most particularly that ancient pagans never did and never could have made any significant scientific progress, and that Christian theology was essential to doing so. These myths are here dispelled with recourse to a survey of the actual facts of the matter.

Ayurveda, the ancient science of life has given a great importance to the concept of srotas as no substance moves or transports into or out of the body without these channels. Acharyas of yore have described the Purusha is made- up of innumerable srotas. The diagnosis and treatment in Ayurveda are built on the fundamental principles like how the srotas are vitiated and what symptoms they exhibit. Innumerable srotas are present in body representing infinite elements transporting in the entire body. Conceptually body has as many srotas as it contains the biochemical entities and all metabolic activities take place in connection with the srotas. Acharya Charaka mentioned there are 13 srotases where as Sushruta explained 11 paired srotases. Pranavaha Srotas is a specific channel in which Pranavayu enters, nourishes and maintains the activities in the body. Hridaya has its role in the Pranvahan karma i.e. conveying Prana all over the body and hence Hridaya is considered its Moolasthana. There are many factors which are the definite indicative of Pranavaha srotas can be correlated with the Respiratory system. All clinical conditions associated with organs of the respiratory system can be considered same as clinical conditions affecting the Pranavaha srotas. Keywords: Pranavaha srotas, Hridaya, Mahasrotas, Viddha lakshana, Pradushta lakshana, Shwasa, Respiratory system, Anoxia.

Ayurveda is an ancient science which protect health in healthy individuals and cures the condition in diseased population.Ayurveda is the science of life and Shalya Tantra is important branch, Which represent the surgical field.  One of the prime important disease from Ashtamahagad is Arsha. Arsha is defined as  a disease which torture patients vital force as enemy is called as Arsha. Arsha correlated with hemorrhoids described in modern science.(Haema-blood & rhoos-flowing).  In Ayurveda our Acharya described four type of treatment for Arsha, which is Bheshaj (conservative), Kshar, Agni, Shastra (surgery).  In modern science hemorrhoids are defined as the protrusion of varicose vein from the rectal mucosal membrane in the rectal area which can grow to quit large size if not checked in time.it is one of the commonest diseas. Its incidence increases with advancing age. There are various kind of treatment Dietary Lifestyle modification,Tropical treatment, Oral medication, Parasurgical and Surgical treatment and modality is used to care. Sclerotherapy, Cryotherapy, Electriccoagulation, Infracoagulation, Radiofrequency coagulation & excision, Dopplerlar guided hemorrhoidal artery ligation, Stapled hemorrhoidectomy, these are parasurgical procedures on hemorrhoids. Closed and Open hemorrhoidectomy, Harmonic scalpel and literature, Atomizer ward, these are surgical treatment on hemorrhoids. In this review article on attempt has been made to review the study carried out on Arsha.

Ayurveda is an ancient science having its roots in Vedic literature which describes certain rules and regulations as a way of living. Over the ages with the advancement of technology, there have been tremendous changes in the lifestyle patterns of the individuals. The Principles of Ayurveda science are the same but it is imperative to match up and draw an analogy with the modern evidences and discover the innovation in them. Gramya Aahara is one such type of diet that is prevalent in the society and is the cause of various diseases. Ati Lavana (excessive consumption of salt) is one of the components mentioned in it. The challenge lies in understanding the dogmas of Ayurveda science thoroughly and also to implement them in this modern era. The harmful effects of salt are propounded by the Ayurveda classics as well as the modern science. This is an attempt to discuss about the excessive consumption of salt from the Ayurveda as well as modern view. This will provide succor in adopting the right manner of consumption of salt pertaining to the requirements of the body.

The breathing method, which was developed and is being taught by Kozo Nishino, a Japanese Ki-expert, is for raising the levels of Ki-energy (life-energy or the vitality) of an individual. It is neither a therapy nor a healing technique. However, many of his students have experienced an improvement in their health, and in some cases, they were able to overcome health problems by themselves. Since this is an interesting subject from the standpoint of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM), we have been collaborating with Nishino to conduct a scientific investigation of his Ki-energy. We found that Nishino's Ki-energy can inhibit cell division of cancer cells, protect isolated mitochondria from heat deterioration and reduce lipid peroxidation in heat-treated mitochondria. Although Ki-energy may consist of several different energy forms, we found that at least one of them is near-infrared radiation between the wavelength range of 0.8 and 2.7 µm. Another interesting observation at his school is the Taiki-practice (paired Ki-practice). During this practice, Nishino can ‘move’ his students without any physical contact. Many of them run, jump or roll on the floor when they receive his Ki-energy. We studied this and propose that ‘information’ is conveyed through the air between two individuals by Ki-energy. This may be called a five sense-independent, life-to-life communication by Ki. All of our results suggest that we should re-evaluate the Cartesian dualism (separation of mind and body) which has been a fundamental principle of modern science for the past three centuries.

Abstract Spirit and body of the man living in the world of modern technology are discussed in the paper. The entire life of modern man is under the pressure of rapid and far‐reaching changes in economy, organisation, education, self‐image. The relations between the spirit and the body on the one side and illness and health, money, media, narcissism, morality and national identity on the other side are studied in the article. Particular attention is paid to the relationship between the world of modern science and technology and the quality of life focusing on the mind and body. The fact emphazised in the conclusion is that the nature of Western ‐ European civilization has been changing with predominant turning to the SELF, to the absolute interest of an invidual in terms of materialism. The result of this civilizational turn is jeopardizing the spirit and the body of modern man.

I count it an honor, however little deserved, to Have a responsible share in your program. When I received the invitation from the President in esse I had not quite the strength of mind either to decline or to admit that the subject was too big for me. The President in posse in a flank attack made a specious plea about the duty of the head of a department in an institution reputed to be a hotbed of applied mathematics to justify that reputation a plea which it would have been ignominious to disregard. Aware, nevertheless, of my real incompetence to tell you just what part our ancient science really does play in these other more complicated but less interesting modern ones, I have, after trying to show some of you, yesterday, a few exhibits of t ransmigrated mathematics, surreptitiously changed my subject without the permission of either of these presidential potentates to Mathematics as a Modern Science, naturally from the standpoint of a teacher in a school of applied science.
