Yoga Darshana and Ayurveda being contemporary sciences have influenced and complemented each other. The concepts of Yoga Darshana are selectively incorporated in Ayurveda to suit its objectives viz., ‘Swasthya Rakshana’ and ‘Roga Prashamana.’ Most of the concepts of yoga are accepted as such, some are modified for the medical science. Application of the concepts of yoga in conjunction with Ayurveda enhances the therapeutic application of both the contemporary systems of healing. Ayurveda provides the appropriate lifestyle recommendations for Yoga practice, as well as the background to unfold the full healing potential of all aspects of Yoga. It is important to integrate Yoga and Ayurveda in order to bring out a complete holistic healing system. Integrating Yoga with Ayurveda adds a spiritual and psychological dimension to Ayurvedic treatment modalities, without which Ayurveda tends to become a mere physical model devoid of spiritual and Vedic healing powers. Ayurveda focuses on individual’ constitution or body type which is referred to as Prakriti. It is defined as expression of a person in context to morpholo-gy, physiology, behavior and relation to ecology. The application of Tattvas of Yoga Darshana in Ayur-veda finds similarity in some contexts and dissimilarity in others, which are elaborated in the article and along with This Yoga Asanas according to the specific constitution of an individual is cited in this article.

Cancer is one of the most complicated diseases in present-day medical science. Yearly, several studies suggest various strategies for preventing carcinogenesis. Furthermore, experiments for the treatment of cancer with low side effects are ongoing. Chemotherapy, targeted therapy, radiotherapy and immunotherapy are the most common non-invasive strategies for cancer treatment. One of the most challenging issues encountered with these modalities is low effectiveness, as well as normal tissue toxicity for chemo-radiation therapy. The use of some agents as adjuvants has been suggested to improve tumor responses and also alleviate normal tissue toxicity. Resveratrol, a natural flavonoid, has attracted a lot of attention for the management of both tumor and normal tissue responses to various modalities of cancer therapy. As an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent, in vitro and in vivo studies show that it is able to mitigate chemo-radiation toxicity in normal tissues. However, clinical studies to confirm the usage of resveratrol as a chemo-radioprotector are lacking. In addition, it can sensitize various types of cancer cells to both chemotherapy drugs and radiation. In recent years, some clinical studies suggested that resveratrol may have an effect on inducing cancer cell killing. Yet, clinical translation of resveratrol has not yielded desirable results for the combination of resveratrol with radiotherapy, targeted therapy or immunotherapy. In this paper, we review the potential role of resveratrol for preserving normal tissues and sensitization of cancer cells in combination with different cancer treatment modalities.

Phimosis is described as condition in which prepuce or foreskin of glans penis is not retracted backwards resulting in poor narrowed stream of urine during micturition causing ballooning of prepuce along with recurrent attacks of balanoposthitis and Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs). Majority of new born boys do have non-retractile foreskin called as Physiological Phimosis. In Ayurveda phimosis is described as Nirudhaprakasha. Physiological phimosis usually does not require any kind of treatment as it resolve spontaneously within first couple of years mostly taking 3 to 6 years after which measures are considered to correct it surgically. Pathological phimosis is condition in which prepuce get adhered to glans secondary to adhesions or scarring made because of infection, inflammation or trauma. Pathological phimosis and physiological phimosis with recurrent attack of balanoposthitis and UTIs do require treatment. There are several treatment modalities are available according to severity of adhesions such as local application of steroid cream or oil, manual retraction, dilatation and Circumcision. In this review article we assess the various treatment modalities available in Ayurveda and contemporary medical science for better management of Phimosis.

Renal disorders are growing very rapidly among people all over the world nowadays and the treatment modalities available in modern medicine have undesirable side effects on human health. Plants of mutravirechaniya mahakashaya, described as, 35th mahakashaya in the 4th chapter of Charaka Samhita, Purvardha are mostly recognised for their urine inducing or urinary flow increasing capacity along with urinary system defending property in the ancient ayurvedic medical science. Formulations containing these plants as main ingredients have been regularly prescribed for the cases of abdominal fluid collection, renal problems, renal calculi, fluid collection in the lower extremities or any other cases of fluid overload in traditional system of Indian medicine. Studies approving urinary flow enhancing capacity along with the urinary calculi destroying property for the active ingredient of the individual plant, explain these plants’ utilization for renal diseases. Induction of adequate urine output is the basic concept of treatment for these disorders as majority of these conditions hamper normal filtration mechanism of the excretory system. Current article tries to specify the research works done scientifically upon the herbs having diuretic properties grouped together under the roof of mutravirechaniya mahakashaya in ayurvedic classics. It is composed of the knowledge gained from various scholarly articles, scientific papers, books and research topics gathered through the medium of documentation and internet. The presented compilation work helps towards proving its biological activities and pharmacology of its extracts which will contribute towards further exploration of this group of great clinical potential. However, further studies should be carried out to identify the mechanism of the pharmacological actions of these drugs classically mentioned in a group of diuretics.

Vatahata Vartma is a condition of Vartma where in the Vartma-Shuklagata Sandhi is afflicted by vitiated Vata leading to Vimukta Sandhi (functional deterioration of the Shuklavartmagata Sandhi which facilitates the movement of eyelids), Nischeshta (no or reduced eyelids activity), Nimilayati (unable to close the eyelids). The signs and symptoms of Vatahata Vartma can be corelated to Ptosis in modern medical science. Ptosis is a medical condition in which there will be drooping or falling of upper eyelid. The condition worsens when there is exhaustion of the extra ocular muscles. This condition can be either uni-ocular or binocular. If the condition is left untreated, it can lead to complications. Surgical intervention is the only line of treatment mentioned for ptosis in contemporary science. Ayurveda has mentioned different treatment modalities for similar conditions. This paper highlights a case study of Vatahata Vartma (ptosis) managed with Ayurvedic line of treatment with Mukhabhyanga, Sweda, Nasya, Akshipindi and Akshi Tarpana. Keywords: Vatahata Vartma, Ptosis, Nasya, Akshitarpana, Akshipindi

Background: Advances made in recent years by cancer research have led to a wide variety of new therapeutic options. While many of these new modalities require pharmaceutical, invasive or radiotherapeutic intervention, the parameters defining benefit can be defined narrowly (as in x months to relapse). The NAMS (Navjeevan Advanced Medical Science) developed over 15 years by a team of practicing researchers, offers a fresh noninvasive, ecohealth/ecosystemic approach, utilizing an individualized patient centered approach called “precision.” Aim: NAMS has developed a totally new scientific approach with a unique conceptualization that totally breaks with conventional methods. Over the past decade, NAMS has successfully treated with its chemical-free medicine more than 300 patients with various cancers, most of whom were deemed “impossible cases” or stage IV cancer, with positive results beyond 80%. Methods: This report also presents case studies to provide both a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the clinical results including some of the more extreme patient monographs in the treatment of cancer where the current scientific therapies offered no hope of healing. NAMS is at the heart of an innovative serendipity heterodox in the effective treatment of cancer because it comes from a precise medicine with strong ecosystemic and ecological health (ecohealth) approach. NAMS borrows the ways of a treatment ecosystemic. Indeed, as part of a more systemic approach to cancer that favors the identification of internal and external causal factors with respect to the environment and its elimination by the administration of more targeted “qualifying” molecules, based on specific plant and fruit extracts, to effectively treat cancer cells. Results: Why the results are remarkable at NAMS? First, the particular diet resets disturbed health, fighting and preventive powers of the body; second reason, NAMS treats body as a whole and does not divide body in departments and treats at cell damage and disease causing factors level. NAMS treats disease in general as imbalances of the body. NAMS treatment produces fastest results by noninvasive way, avoiding use of any chemical or synthetic medicines. Balancing of the disturbed vital body molecules which are oxidants, free radicals and toxins is the cornerstone of NAMS research. Disturbance in vital molecules and accumulation of toxins lead to cell damage where ever they are in excess. In this process, NAMS uses phytoceutical actives, food actives, food ingredients balancing, body´s intrinsic factors (body´s own acid, enzymes, hormone) balancing and corrections. Body typing, correlating the body type with all the extrinsic actives used in treatment and taking support of the body intrinsic actives in enhancing the effect in general… producing the button on effect on many of the instances. Conclusion: In summary, NAMS does not treat patients, disease wise, it treats patients body wise. Diseases develop in body because of disruption of health balancing molecules.

Childlessness and infertility are rising dramatically in cities. The increase may be due to many reasons like the way of living, coping with stress, job pressure, obesity, postponing parenthood, galloping urbanization, sexually transmitted infections and many others. Hence treating infertility is the challenging job for the doctors in present era. The failure to ovulate is the major problem in approximately 40% cases of female infertility. This can be anovulation or severe oligo ovulation. In the latter case even though the ovulation does occur, its relative infrequency decreases the womanand#39;s chance of pregnancy. Hence the infertility and especially ovarian factor induced female infertility needs an immediate attention from alternative medicines. Over last decades, fertility therapy has expanded more than any other field of medicine. Hormonal therapy, In vitro Fertilization (IVF), Embryo Transfer (ET), Gamete Intra Fallopian Transfer (GIFT) etc., all these have a minimal success rate. Additionally these procedures are associated with adverse effects andamp; are not affordable to all. Ayurveda may give a promising hand to cure this condition with the various treatment modalities mentioned in the classics. For the present clinical study, an effort was made to study the efficacy of Udvartana and Nasya followed by Shamanaushadhis in reversing the pathology of this disease and giving a “Never-Ending Joy” of parenthood to the couples through the Ayurvedic treatment.

Anterior uveitis is inflammation of the Uveal tissue from iris upto Pars plicata of ciliary body, which is a common cause for painful red eye. It usually affects people of 20 -50 years of age and account for 10 -15% of cases of legal blindness in developed countries. Depending on the clinical presentation it can be categorised as Iritis, Cyclitis or iridocyclitis. It is typically characterized by photophobia, pain, ciliary congestion, Blurred vision, Keratic precipitates, Aqueous flare and cells and often pooled with Auto immune diseases. If untreated, it can cause permanent visual loss and serious complications such as glaucoma, cataract, and cystoid macular oedema, Retinal detachment. Reducing the inflammation with the help of steroids, Immunosuppressant (topically, systematically) are the treatments indicated in contemporary science but these have their own side-effects and many entities are such that the recurrence rates are very high in spite of treatment or will be non-responsive. So it is coherent to adopt Ayurvedic treatment principles to resolve the ailment securely and to overcome the magnitudes of recurrence. The clinical features of Anterior Uveitis simulates to Pittaja and Raktaja Adhimanta to a greater extent and treatment modalities can be adopted based on Doshas and Samprapthi involved. In this paper, a special case report of a 51 years old male patient with Anterior Uveitis who showed marked improvement with Ayurvedic management is presented. The possible role of Ayurveda in its management and mode of action is also discussed here.

The classical Ayurvedic texts are endowed with unique treatment modalities. Panchakarma procedures form an important backbone in Ayurvedic treatment. One of the Panchakarma therapies is the Sarvangadhara. It is also known as Kayaseka, Pizhichil, Seka and Dhara. It is classified under Sagni Sweda as Parisheka Swedana by Acharya Charaka whereas Acharya Sushruta mentions it under Drava Sweda. It is a special Bahir-Parimarjana therapy where it does both Snehana and Swedana simultaneously. In this procedure medicated liquid (oil/Kwa- tha/Takra) is poured over the body in form of Dhara or stream for a stipulated period. The present study aims to review the procedure of Sarvangadhara through the study of various Ayurvedic and modern literature, published research papers, and textbooks. The procedure induces sweating and relieves stiffness, heaviness and coldness in the body. It is very helpful in Vata-Pradhana diseases like neurological diseases and degenerative disorders. Par- isheka Swedana is mentioned as Samanya-Chikitsa of Vata-Vyadhi. It is widely practised in Ankylosing spondylosis and the chronic stage of osteoarthritis condition. The medicines are changed based on the conditions like Takra- Dhara is adopted in cases of psoriasis and Dhanyamla-Dhara in obesity. In the present article, an attempt has been made to review the procedure and benefits of Sarvangadhara as a Pan- chakarma therapy in the treatment of various diseases. Keywords: Sarvangadhara, Parishek, Pizhichil, Seka, Dhara, Swedana
