This research aims to examine the experimental studies on the impact of simulation technique on students' academic achievement using the meta-analysis method. The previous studies that could be meta-analyzed were examined based on the criteria set out in this study. Finally, 91 studies that were conducted between 2010-2020 years and met the inclusion criteria were subjected to meta-analysis. The sample of the research consisted of 7575 participants. According to the results of the analysis performed using the random-effects model, the mean effect size was calculated as g=0.759 with a standard error of 0.075. Based on the findings, the simulation technique can be said to have a broad impact on students' academic achievement. The results of the publication bias analysis revealed that the present meta-analysis study had no publication bias. On the other hand, the results of the moderator analysis revealed that the impact of the simulation technique on the students' academic achievement did not differ by the teaching levels, course/subject area, and application times, however, it differed by the sample size.

In this study, it was aimed to investigate the experimental studies regarding the effect of educational robotic applications on academic achievement by the meta-analysis method. Within the scope of the research, the studies carried out on educational robotic applications were scanned from national and international databases and selected according to inclusion criteria. The sample of the study consisted of 2606 participants with 1300 in the experimental group and 1306 in the control group. In the study, the effect size values and combined effect size of each study included in the meta-analysis were calculated by using CMA. As a result of the study, it has been found that educational robotic applications have a positive and low level effect on academic achievement according to the random effects model. As a result of the analyzes conducted to reveal the publication bias status of the study, it has been found that there is no publication bias in the meta-analysis study. In addition, it has been found that the effect size of educational robotic applications on academic achievement does not change depending on the subject area and duration of application but changes depending on the sample size. In the other studies to be conducted, the effectiveness of the students in different variables such as computational thinking skills, problem solving skills, attitude, motivation, and anxiety levels can be examined in addition to the variables studied.

This meta-analysis study synthesizing the results of experimental and quasi experimental studies examined the effects of self-assessment interventions on student academic performance from primary education to higher education. A total of 16 studies with 46 effect sizes involving more than 7,650 participants were included in the analysis. Research synthesis showed that an overall small influence of self-assessment interventions on academic performance (g=.37, p .05). Additionally, moderator analysis was used to examine moderating effects of some variables. The analysis indicated that traditional self-assessment interventions without external feedback have significantly a larger effect (g =.47, p.05) than self-assessment with external feedback (g=.28, p.05) on academic performance. However, effectiveness of other moderating variables (e.g. education level, assessment criteria type, self-assessment training) on academic performance were not statistically significant. The results suggest that further empirical studies are needed to reveal the moderating effects of self-assessment.

The main purpose of this study is to show how much learning technologies increase the success in primary school with meta-analysis method. Advanced technologies such as virtual-augmented reality, animation-simulation, inverted classroom application, web-internet course applications, course and game teaching software, which are subject to experimental studies in computerized learning environments, have been included in this meta-analysis study, since they have features that can improve academic achievement. It is taken into account that having features such as; publication in a peer reviewed open-access magazines, the execution of the application by selecting the sample from the primary school in Turkey, listing the mean and standard deviation values and the number of sample group students for the final test, for the articles to be included in this research. It was concluded that advanced technology supported lesson applications in primary school have the ability to increase academic achievement at a very high level. The effect size found (md: 4.17239) is larger than the highest level value statements defined in the literature.

Background: The management of hypertension remains suboptimal throughout the world. Methods: We performed a random-effects model meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials to determine the effectiveness and safety of sacubitril/valsartan (LCZ696) for the treatment of high arterial pressure. Relevant published articles from PubMed, Cochrane base, and Medline were examined, and the last search date was December 2020. Only published randomized controlled trials and double-blind studies were selected for further analysis. The mean reductions in systolic blood pressure (msSBP) and diastolic blood pressure (msDBP) in the sitting position, as well as the mean reductions in ambulatory systolic blood pressure (maSBP) and ambulatory diastolic blood pressure (maDBP), were assumed as efficacy endpoints. Adverse events (AEs) were considered as safety outcomes. Results: Ten studies with a total of 5931patients were included for analysis. Compared with placebo, LCZ696 had a significant reduction in msSBP (weight mean difference (WMD) = −6.52 mmHg, 95% confidence interval (CI): −8.57 to −4.47; p < 0.001), msDBP (WMD = −3.32 mmHg, 95% CI: −4.57 to −2.07; p < 0.001), maSBP (WMD = −7.08 mmHg, 95% CI: −10.48 to −3.68; p < 0.001), maDBP (WMD = −3.28 mmHg, 95% CI: −4.55 to −2.02, p < 0.001). In subgroup analysis, only 200 mg and 400 mg LCZ696 showed a significant BP reduction. There was no difference in the AE rate between the LCZ696 and placebo groups (WMD = 1.02, 95% CI: 0.83 to 1.27, p = 0.54). Egger’s test revealed a potential publication bias for msSBP (p = 0.025), but no publication bias for other outcomes. Conclusion: LCZ696 may reduce blood pressure more efficaciously than traditional therapy in hypertensive patients without increasing adverse effects.

Abstract Background Eating disorders (ED) can reduce quality of life by limiting participation and performance in social and occupational roles, including paid or unpaid work. The association between ED pathologies and work participation and performance must be well understood to strengthen vocational rehabilitation programmes and prevent occupational disruptions in the ED population. The aims of this study are: (1) to examine the degree of association between ED pathologies and work participation and performance in 15-year-olds and older; (2) to highlight the specific ED symptoms that are most correlated with changes in work performance and participation; (3) to compile the most common metrics and assessments used to measure work participation and performance with ED. Methods Medline, Embase, CINAHL, Web of Science, PsycINFO, and Cochrane Library will be searched for observational and experimental studies that meet the following criteria: (1) a clinical sample of typical or atypical ED; (2) paid or unpaid employment or training; (3) an association between ED pathologies and work participation or performance. Unpublished data will also be examined. Title and abstract, and full-text screening will be conducted in duplicate. Risk of bias and quality of evidence assessments will be completed. A random-effect meta-analysis will be performed. Discussion This synthesis can clarify knowledge and gaps around the impact of ED on work functioning, thereby allowing better evaluation, improvements and development of current workplace assessments, interventions, and policies. Trial registration The registration number for this systematic review on PROSPERO is CRD42021255055.

Context: Conflicting results have been reported in the literature concerning the relationship between salivary nitrous oxide concentration and dental caries in children. Metaanalysis studies aim to combine different studies and reduce the difference between the parameters by increasing the number of studies involved in the analysis process. Objectives: Accordingly, this meta-analysis study aimed at determining the relationship between salivary nitrous oxide concentration and dental caries in children. Methods: Databases were searched using the keywords “nitric oxide”, “salivary”, “Caries”, “DMFT Index”, “children”, “early childhood caries” and OR, AND and NOT operators. Quality assessment was then performed based on the Newcastle-Ottawa scale (NOS) checklist. The standardized mean difference (SMD) of DMFT, dmft, and salivary nitric oxide (NO) concentration was estimated. Results: Seven studies made a comparison between the mean salivary NO concentration in children with dental caries and that in the control group. In four studies, the mean salivary NO concentration in children with dental caries was lower, as compared to that in the control group. This difference was significant in all four studies. Also, the mean standardized difference of the salivary NO index was also estimated to be -0.11 (CI 95%: -1.77, 1.55). Conclusions: This meta-analysis study demonstrated that salivary NO concentration was not significantly related to dental caries. Moreover, since salivary NO concentration is affected by various factors, it is not sufficient to determine the likelihood of the incidence of caries.
