This paper intends to show, that the current
marginalization of domestic labour runs in the
detriment of both the workers and the needs
of the labour market. It is strongly contested
whether domestic labour in its current form
can meet the demands of a fl exible and
economic and social environment. At the
core of discussions on new, fl exible forms
of organization of labour one usually fi nds
economic sectors involving high skills and
added value. However, the diffusion of fl exible
employment schemes is related not only with
more high skill jobs in the labour market
but also with the creation of infrastructures
and niches able to support them. In this
context, a pathway towards the viability of
the marginalized niche of domestic labour
is discussed. Key position in this venture
is that the devaluation of domestic labour
is the product of a social – and therefore
manageable and reversible – process.

This chapter considers the development of systems to deliver multimedia content for new opera. After a short overview of the history of multimedia in opera, the specific requirements of opera are analysed, with emphasis of the fundamental musicality of operatic performance. Having considered the place of multimedia elements in the narrative and acting space, the relevance of previous practice in electroacoustic music and Vjing is considered as a model for a working approach. Several software and hardware configurations explored, including the use of gestural control by the actors themselves. The creation of a keyboard based “video instrument” with a dedicated performer, capable of integration into the pre- existing musical ensemble, is recommended as the most effective and practical solution.

Africa is one of the world’s richest continents laden with tangible and intangible natural resources. Despite the wealth of natural resources, many African citizens are still living in great penury, frustration and hopelessness. Striving to provide solution to the challenges of poverty in Africa may hold no water without the recognition of the role and impact of indigenous languages in the educational and economic sectors. It is observed that developed countries ardently project, preserve, protect, promote and commodify their languages for educational and economic purposes while developing countries lack the political will to do the same for their indigenous languages, hence the failure to harness the values thereof. The paper argues that the diverse and dynamic indigenous language heritage is an enabling resource for developing communities to actively participate in the knowledge economy and initiate development within their communities themselves. The knowledge economy is the economic part of the information society in which the creation and utilization of knowledge play a principal role in the creation of wealth. African leadership must strive to enable most of the indigenous languages to become the instruments of work and scientific understanding. The study argues that with the right leadership, the educational and economic values of indigenous languages can be harnessed. Keywords: Sound leadership, educational, economic, indigenous languages

Tourism is known as one of the biggest and fastest growing economic sectors in the world. Although it provides many job opportunities, there are negative consequences when tourism is not properly managed such as overtourism and degradation of the destination’s natural resources. This study provides an overview of how marine tourism impacts the marine environment and a case study on how GIS-data can be employed to reduce these impacts in California. Impacts of tourism on the marine environment were divided in 4 different categories: coastal development, physical damage, impact from water-based activities and wildlife interactions. All 4 categories were found to have negative impacts on the local biodiversity and ecosystem stability. GIS-data was obtained containing the following delimitations for the coastal areas of California: coral reefs, Marine Protected Areas, critical habitats, areas with anchoring restrictions, Biological Important Areas, Important Bird Areas, areas with fishing restrictions, no discharge zones, seabed types, and areas with shipping restrictions. The proposed implementations include the creation of a vulnerability index, the creation of snorkelling trails in combination with artificial reefs and the most promising approach is found to be using GIS-data for on board education.

Abstract. What future for tourism in the COVID-19 era? This is a question that has become part of the daily life of many tourist destinations. The pandemic has affected all economic sectors and tourism is one of the sectors most suffered. According to data from the World Tourism Organization (2021) due to the health emergency 100% of countries have introduced restrictions in the travel sector and for this reason international tourist arrivals dropping by 74% in 2020. Future projections indicate 2023 as the year when a the "regular" flow of tourists can be recorded globally. However, in the meantime, there is a need to improve this sector by implementing strategies to promote and enhance the places to motivate sustainable tourism. The insecurity of travel and of some destinations, due to the many emergency restrictions, pushes tourists to live an outdoor vacation in contact with nature and host community. Thus, the search for authentic places moves minds more consciously towards sustainable tourism practices showing a greater interest in some forms of tourism such as rural and cultural. The aim of this work is to understand how to deal with the "new" needs of the demand, bringing out the rural realities through the creation of an organized sustainable offer that revolves around existing accommodation facilities such as farmhouses. In particular, the case of Sardinia will be analyzed, an island that has long been known for its seaside tourism, but whose rural and internal areas are still not much used touristically. The study intends, after a short review of the literature on the sustainability of rural tourism, highlight the possibility to create rural tourist itineraries capable of enhancing the territory's peculiarities by combining the different landscape assets. The exemplification of the creation of these routes will be realized in GIS field through the creation of a model of accessibility to the Sardinian rural space. This model will be based on the use of isochronous curves obtained from the analysis of travel times both to move towards and from the agritourism that offer accommodation and within their landscape offer.
