Do individuals care about their relative income? While this is a long-standing hypothesis, revealed-preference evidence remains elusive. We provide a unique test by studying residential choices: individuals often must choose between places with different income distributions, and as a result they “choose” their relative income. We conducted a field experiment with 1,080 senior medical students who participated in the National Resident Matching Program. We estimate their preferences by combining choice data, survey data on perceptions and information-provision experiments. The evidence suggests that individuals care about their relative income and that these preferences differ across single and non-single individuals.

The article considers the role and features of the organization of the information support system in the implementation of strategic programs for the development of the municipality. The main purpose of the information support system in the implementation of strategic programs for the development of the municipality is determined. The basic requirements for information that is used in the process of implementing programs of a strategic nature for the development of a municipality are proposed. The classification of information on the implementation of such programs into external and internal, which in turn are divided into subgroups, is proposed. The author’s definition of the concept «information support for the implementation of strategic programs for the development of the municipality «is also proposed. The author came to the conclusion that a properly organized system of information provision should be given the opportunity to assess the prospects of implementation of programs of strategic character development of the municipality, to make a forecast, to control the execution of these programs allow to analyze the pace of implementation of these programmers, to develop measures to improve the implementation of strategic development programs of the municipality.

Рассмотрены общие принципы информационного обеспечения системы лесовозного автомобильного транспорта, а также основы функционирования систем лесовозного автомобильного транспорта и информационного обеспечения. При разработке решений информационного обеспечения определены основные критерии и мероприятия по оптимизации информационного обеспечения систем функционирования лесовозного автомобильного транспорта. Выделены этапы структуры информационного обеспечения. Определено, что главной задачей системы управления информационного обеспечения функционирования лесовозного автомобильного транспорта является достижение максимума некоторого функционала (составленного из отдельных критериев) при определенных ограничениях на выбор управляющих воздействий за счет изменения параметров системы. По результатам исследования сделаны выводы, из которых следует, что нормальное функционирование лесовозного автомобильного транспорта связано со способностью информационного обеспечения системы лесовозного автомобильного транспорта к адаптации в зависимости от изменения конкретных условий, а также определены границы внешней и внутренней среды, установлены два механизма контроля системы управления информационным обеспечением лесовозного автомобильного транспорта. This paper reports the results of a field experiment involving 2,710 students across nine US colleges, in which faculty provided incoming women and URM students with information about economics. We randomly assign students to one of three conditions: a control (no email messaging), a Welcome treatment (two emails encouraging students to consider enrolling in economics courses), and a Welcome+Info treatment (which added information showcasing the diversity of research and researchers within economics). The Welcome+Info treatment increases the likelihood of completing an economics course in the first semester of college by 3.0 percentage points, nearly 20 percent of the base rate.
