Optimal boundary control for damping the vibrations in a Mindlin-type beam is considered. Wellposedness and controllability of the system are investigated. A maximum principle is introduced and optimal control function is obtained by means of maximum principle. Also, by using maximum principle, control problem is reduced to solving a system of partial differential equations including state, adjoint variables, which are subject to initial, boundary and terminal conditions. The solution of the system is obtained by using MATLAB. Numerical results are presented in table and graphical forms.

System quanta are specific operators in the dynamic activity of the organism's functional systems discovered by P. K. Anokhin. By the term 'system quantum' of life activities we propose to understand discrete system processes proceeding from any arising need up to its satisfactions. Every system quantum of behavior presents a self-regulating organization including the initial need, motivation, system architectonics as described above, intermediate and final results and continuous evaluation of the achieved results by dynamic reconstruction of acceptor of action's result. System quanta may be organized at different levels of life activity. These levels extend in their hierarchy from genes and functional systems of metabolic and autonomic level to zoo-social populations of animals and human communities. Every system quantum is also characterized by information properties. Information properties of every system quantum are closely related to the initial need and its satisfaction.

An optimal control problem for a class of hybrid impulsive and switching systems is considered. By defining switching times as part of extended state, we get the necessary optimality conditions for this problem. It is shown that the adjoint variables satisfy certain jump conditions and the Hamiltonian are continuous at switching instants. In addition, necessary optimality conditions of Fréchet subdifferential form are presented in this paper.

This paper examines the potentialities and characteristics of dynamic maps in relationship with constructivist teaching, by considering maps’ support to four functions: the contents’ learning, the contextualization of Learning Objects, the contextualization of online learning interaction and the knowledge construction. Several algorithms for polymorphic and animated maps’ reconstruction, both bi-dimensional and tridimensional, will be examined and described in detail. Among these algorithms, a further differentiation is made between those concerning proximal, or hierarchical development, and those regarding gravitational developments. In the latter one the positioning of nodes derives from quantitative values, that express their relation’s attractive strength. Conclusions derived from this work are the unavoidable need to implement maps’ dynamic reconstruction algorithms, when the complexity of the disciplinary ontology makes the traditional static approaches unable to provide an effectively usable image of the map.
