An innovative method has been developed and an installation has been created for obtaining pectin polysaccharides in a dynamic mode under the influence of high pressure. The process of degradation of protopectin at various pH values pH of the hydrolyzing agent was studied using the example of sunflower baskets. It has been established that the use of the new method makes it possible to obtain high-quality target products with a high yield in gentle conditions. The possibility of combining the stages of hydrolysis-extraction and fractionation has been demonstrated, which makes it possible to control the process of obtaining pectic polysaccharides in the direction of obtaining substances with specified physicochemical parameters.

The three-times pulse composite perforating technology is a high quality technology which integrates the perforation and powder fracturing. The main principle is that the shaped charge and the fracture powder are ignited by detonating cord simultaneously. And the perforating jet is formed along the different phases, the high-pressure gas generated by the deflagration of the solid rocket propellant in the cracker fractures the stratum along the perforated hole [1], which can form high diversion channel and crack in the near wellbore area increasing the jet area. After the application of more than 1000 well fields, this technology has obvious effect of increasing production, which has certain reliability, security and low cost.

High Quality Cost Effective Die Castings rely to a large extent on successful, effective and practical die design. A review is carried out of some runner and gate designs which resulted in successful high quality castings. Some High Pressure and Gravity cast casting are evaluated. Simulation results for evaluating the impact on the flow during filling due to Runner Geometries, Gate Geometries and positions as well as venting, overflows or risers are discussed. Thermal intervention through the use of internal thermal channels are also evaluated through the use of simulation results. The paper centres on a discussion of analysis of simulation results, predicting defects which impact on some aspects of surface finish and porosity. A case study is presented showing the value of following and taking heed of lessons learnt from simulation results, to carry out die designs with reduced reliance on simulation. Index Terms: South African Foundries, High Pressure Die Casting, Computerised Fluid Dynamics Simulation, Die Design, Defect Reduction.

A research program was undertaken to study the feasibility of employing steam washers to control silica deposition in high-pressure turbines. Under certain laboratory conditions, steam washing was found to be effective; however, its useful application appears to be limited to a very small number of power stations. Space limitations in modern boiler drums make it difficult to install the bulky equipment without interfering with flow and distribution through the drum. A washer installation can actually be the cause of mechanical carry-over. The use of high-quality make-up water and the prevention of raw-water contamination provide a more economical and trouble-free solution to the silica problem. A steam washer has little practical value in plants where good external control of silica is practiced.
