The relative short-term leaching rates of the metals Cd, Cu, Fe, Pb and Zn from composted sewage sludge was determined over the pH range of 2.5–7.0 at 0.5 pH unit intervals. Only Zn and Cd leached significantly faster as the pH was lowered, with both showing the greatest solubility increase over the pH range of 5.5–6.0.
