Nitrocompounds, given intraruminally, were tested as potential inducers of nitrate, nitrite and nitropropanol detoxification in the bovine rumen. Nitroethane supplements stimulated the microbial rate of nitropropanol degradation. Nitrate supplements increased the rates for nitrite and nitrate reduction and this induced capacity was transferred between groups of animals in adjacent pens. Key words: Cattle, nitrate, nitrite, nitropropanol, detoxification

Nondenaturating disc gel electrophoresis revealed that 99Mo was incorporated into the nitrate reductase of Azospirillum brasilense grown in the absence but not in the presence of tungstate. Under denitrifying conditions, A. brasilense grown in tungsten-free medium steadily accumulated 99Mo for 12 h. In contrast, Paracoccus denitrificans grown under the same conditions ceased uptake after 1 h. However, both bacteria were incapable of accumulating significant amounts of 99Mo in media containing 10 mM tungstate, even though nitrate was reduced by A. brasilense. Aerobically grown A. brasilense cells transported 99Mo more efficiently than anaerobically grown cells. Key words: Azospirillum brasilense, tungsten, molybdenum incorporation, nitrate reduction.

Polysaccharide depolymerase and glycoside hydrolase enzymes involved in the degradation of plant structural polysaccharides were most active in the adherent particle-associated microorganisms, whereas soluble saccharides were metabolized by the liquid phase and nonadherent populations. The activities were constant confirming the stability of the populations. Key words: Polysaccharidase, glycosidase, particle-associated microorganisms

Dissimilatory reduction of labeled nitrate in the presence of nonlabeled N2O, or NO, was studied in forest mor humus during anaerobic incubation. Data on the isotopic composition of the N2O and N2 pools suggested that all of the N2 formed had passed the N2O pool. This finding supported the earlier suggestion that N2O is an obligatory intermediate in the dissimilatory reduction of nitrate to N2. Due to a likely occurrence of nonenzymatic isotopic exchange between NO and nitrate, the technique used was considered unreliable to study the nature of NO as a possible intermediate in the sequence of nitrate reduction. However, qualitative observations indicated that NO was not a free, obligatory intermediate. Reduction of nitrate was strongly inhibited by the presence of NO. Reduction of N2O to N2 was significantly retarded by the presence of nitrate. The length of the lag period increased as the initial nitrate concentration was increased. Key words: Dissimilatory nitrate reduction, denitrification, nitrous oxide, nitric oxide

This paper describes the separation of rumen mucosa cells by pretrypsinization with 0.1% trypsin elusion solution composed of 2% sodium citrate, 2% EDTA-Na, 0.001% Tween 80 and 0.01% polybrene in 0.9% sodium chloride, pH 7.2. In the use of the cells separated following trypsin-EDTA treatment, three culture cases are described. Key words: Cell culture, rumen mucosa, bovine

The theme “Hydrogen nitrate interaction with metals” is one of the most difficult due to the school Chemistry course. The schoolboy main problem concerns the selection of the most probable reaction products. This complex problem is described in the pupil-books superficially, due to the level of the simple law learning. The detailed and systematized material in fact on this theme and the reaction mechanism are considered in this article. The general law of the hydrogen nitrate reduction by metals is formulated on this base, and the tables to determinate the most probable products of these processes are represented. This article is very useful for pupils and students, and for lectures and young people, it may be used to systematize knowledge due to this theme during the deep Chemistry studying process and to prepare for the examinations. Key words: Hydrogen nitrate, oxidative qualities, reduction products, reaction mechanism.

Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) are the most common mesenchymal tumors of the digestive tract (1%). These tumors express the CD 117 in 95% of cases. The stomach is the preferential localization (70%). Diagnosis is difficult and sometimes late. Progress of imaging has greatly improved the management and the prognosis. Computed tomography (CT) is the gold standard for diagnosis, staging, and treatment follow-up. The increasing recognition of GIST’s histopathology and the prolonged survival revealed some suggestive imaging aspects. Key words: gastro-intestinal stromal tumors; computed tomography; diagnosis

This article aims at describing the obseroance of wasiat wajibah (compulsory bequeathment) in the Islamic court of Banten, analyzing the provision of the substitute heir and adopted children in the Compilation of  Islamic Law (KHI). In addition, the ideal laws to manage the innheritance rules in Indonesia. This article is library research by using doctrinal approach and using case study and survey methods. The data was, then, analyzed by using analytical descriptive and analytical correlative methods. The result showed that the observance of wasiat wajibah in the Islamic court of  Banten employed by judges is by using the Mawali Hazairin’s Doctrine. The criteria of the adoption of substitute heir and adopted children in the KHI is the attempts of Ulama and many judgees junst in giving legal justice and certainty to the society.   Key Words: Islamic Inheritance Law, Compilation of Islamic Law, Islamic court of  Banten

Five phosphorus rates (0, 5, 10, 20 and 30 kg P/ha) were tested with four rice genotypes in Boro (BRRI dhan36, BRRI dhan45, EH1 and EH2) and T. Aman (BRRI dhan30, BRRI dhan49, EH1 and EH2) season. Phosphorus rates did not influence grain yield irrespective of varieties in T. Aman season while in Boro season P response was observed among the P rates. Application of P @ 10 kg/ha significantly increased the grain yield. But when P was applied @ 20 and 30 kg P/ha, the grain yield difference was not significant. The optimum and economic rate of P for T. Aman was 20 kg P/ha but in Boro rice the optimum and economic doses of P were 22 and 30 kg/ha, respectively. Hybrid entries (EH1 and EH2) used P more efficiently than inbred varieties. A negative P balance was observed up to 10 kg P/ha.
