A survey was conducted for identification of Euphorinae (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) in the northern provinces of Iran. The specimens were collected using Malaise traps during 2010-2011. In all, 9 species in four genera consisting of <em>Allurus</em> F&ouml;rster, <em>Dinocampus </em>F&ouml;rster, <em>Peristenus</em> Nees and <em>Perilitus</em> Nees were collected and identified. The genus <em>Allurus</em> is recorded for the first time from Iran. Six species are newly recorded for the Iranian fauna including <em>Allurus muricatus</em> (Haliday), <em>Peristenus pallipes</em> Curtis, <em>Peristenus relictus</em> (Ruthe), <em>Perilitus</em> (<em>Townesilitus</em>) <em>bicolor</em> (Wesmael), <em>Perilitus foveolatus </em>Reinhard and <em>Perilitus rutilus</em> (Nees). Morphological diagnostic characters and geographical distribution of the species are briefly discussed. A key is presented for identification of the genera and species in the studied area.

The female of Labena madoricola González-Moreno & Bordera, 2015 is described and illustrated for the first time from material collected with Malaise traps in 2016 in the Biocultural Reserve Kaxil Kiuic, Yucatán, Mexico. Diagnostic characters to distinguish females of New World Labena are provided. New distribution records of Labena species in Yucatán Peninsula, are also reported.

Species of the genus Homolobus Förster, 1862 in northern Iran were taxonomically studied. The specimens were collected using Malaise traps from March to November of 2010 and 2011. Two species, Homolobus infumator (Lyle, 1914) and Homolobus truncator (Say, 1829) were collected and identified. The former was recorded for the first time in Iran. Diagnostic characters and geographical distribution of the species are briefly discussed. An illustrated key is provided for identification of the Iranian species.

We report new records of the White-Tailed Deer (Odocoileus virginianus) in Brazil based on specimens deposited in scientific collections. These new records expand the known geographic distribution of the species in Brazil southwards in the states of Roraima and Amapá, the latter the first record of the species below the equator line in Brazil, and register it for the first time in the state of Amazonas. These records contribute to increase the knowledge of the geographical distribution of O. virginianus in Brazil and highlights the importance of museum collections as a source of biogeographic and ecological data.

Chloropidae are of major economic importance, since the larvae of some species are pests of cereals and grasses, some are parasitoids and predators, and adults of some Hippelates spp. visit and transmit or are suspected of transmitting yaws sores in man and animals and by feeding around the eyes are vectors of Brazilian Purpuric Fever. Within the framework of the exploration of the biodiversity of Diptera in Southwest Saudi Arabia a survey of the grass flies fauna in 18 sites in Jazan, Asir, and Najran in south-western Saudi Arabia was performed mainly using Malaise traps and sweep nets from 2010– to 2016. Sixty six species of 43 genera and three subfamilies of Chloropidae were identified and are recorded from Saudi Arabia, 20 of them for the first time and three are described as new species: Elachiptera arabica Deeming sp. n.; Kwarea ismayi Deeming sp.n. and Tricimba turneri Deeming sp.n.. This makes the total number of Chloropidae species in Saudi Arabia 95 (including 29 species previously recorded). Seventy images are presented. The species of Chloropidae listed are predominantly of Afrotropical/ Palaearctic origin. An updated checklist of Chloropidae species of Saudi Arabia is presented.This study adds new records of Chloropidae to the Saudi Arabian Diptera fauna, which will become reference points for research detailing the systematic geographic distribution and for identifying other specimens submitted for identification. Further species will undoubtedly be discovered with more research involving collecting and rearing methods.

We present the results of our investigation of feather mites (Astigmata) associated with non-passerine birds in Brazil. The studied birds were obtained from roadkills, airport accidents, and from capitivity. Most ectoparasites were collected from bird specimens by washing. A total of 51 non-passerine species from 20 families and 15 orders were examined. Of them, 24 species were assessed for feather mites for the first time. In addition, 10 host associations are recorded for the first time in Brazil. A total of 101 feather mite species were recorded, with 26 of them identified to the species level and 75 likely representing undescribed species; among the latter samples, five probably represent new genera. These records allowed the first inference about the host and mite association of many species, as well as the first discussion about the geographical distribution of some feather mite taxa along the host distribution.

During a plankton trip around Sebatik Island, North Kalimantan, a copepod Labidocera rotunda Mori, 1929 (Calanoida, Pontellidae) was collected for the first time in Indonesian waters. Both sexes are redescribed and compared to previous descriptions. The geographical distribution of the species confirms that it is of Indo-Pacific origin. There has been a mix-up between L. rotunda described by Mori (1929) from Pusan, Korea and L. bipinnata from Sagami Bay, described by Tanaka (1936). Fleminger et al. (1982) have argued that the minor difference is based on the presence or absence of cephalic hooks and had synonymized L. bipinnata with L. rotunda.

The male of Latonigena auricomis Simon, 1893 is described for the first time and the female is redescribed. New records are provided for Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay. Notes on the natural history and a potential distribution model of the species are presented in the Neotropical Region.

This study deals with exploration of freshwater desmids for the first time from Ropar wetland (Ramsar site) of Punjab (India) to assess their taxonomic aspects and bio-geographical distribution. During this study, samples of planktonic, epiphytic and epilithic desmids were collected from littoral zone and were observed under light microscope for their morphometric characteristics based identification. Total 21 desmids species belonging to 4 genera of 2 families (Closteriaceae and Desmidiaceae) were identified from the collected samples. Among them, Cosmarium with 11 species (C. awadhense, C. bioculatum, C. trilobatum, C. divergens, C. granatum, C. moniliforme, C. nitidulum, C. subtumidum, C. reniforme, C. undulatum and C. obtusatum) was found to be most abundant followed by Closterium with 7 species (C. acerosum, C. dianae, C. incurvum, C. leibleinii, C. lunula, C. pritchardianum and C. aciculare), Euastrum with 2 species (E. spinulosum and E. platycerum) and Staurastrum with 1 species (S. crenulatum). The geographic distribution of identified desmid taxa in India has been also recorded. All the desmid taxa identified during this study are new record for the Punjab state of India. The results of this study provide significant baseline data for the future taxonomic and ecological studies from the similar habitats.

The new records of five species of Limoniidae (Diptera) are given: Rhabdomastix beckeri (Lackschewitz, 1935) and Scleroprocta pentagonalis (Loew, 1873) are recorded for the first time from Russia; the first reliable record of Eloeophila mundata (Loew, 1871) from Russia is given; Hexatoma fuscipennis (Curtis, 1836) and H. nubeculosa nubeculosa (Burmeister, 1829) are recorded for the first time from NE European Russia. It is found that the larvae of four species, R. beckeri, S. pentagonalis, E. mundata and H. fuscipennis, in NE European Russia (Perm Territory and Udmurtia) are aquatic psammorheophilous forms inhabiting sandy sediments at the bottom of rivers in sites with strong current. Previously the larvae in these genera and in three of these species have been considered mostly as semiaquatic forms that develop in substrata near the water margin. Larval habitats of the four species in the study area are characterized. The photographs of diagnostic characters of adult males of these species are given.

Taxonomic notes are presented on the former Ascalaphidae (owlflies), now subfamily Ascalaphinae of the family Myrmeleontidae from Pakistan. An updated checklist of new records is provided that accounts for all known 15 genera and 22 species from Pakistan, excluding the species of the tribe Palparini. Geographical distribution maps and an updated identification key to all known genera and species from Pakistan are also given. We synonymized two monotypic genera, Horischema Mészáros & Ábrahám, 2003 and Perissoschema Mészáros & Ábrahám, 2003 both as junior synonyms of Ogcogaster Westwood, 1847 based on very similar male genitalia and external morphological characters. Moreover, Perissoschema evae Mészáros & Ábrahám, 2003 is treated as a junior synonym of Ogcogaster segmentator Westwood, 1847. We recorded three genera for the first time from Pakistan, i.e., Acheron Lefèbvre, 1842, Glyptobasis McLachlan, 1873, and Suphalomitus van der Weele, 1909. To more completely resolve the generic or specific status of those poorly known species from Pakistan, broader sampling throughout the country is needed.
