Artificial intelligence is employed for solving complex scientific, technical, and practical problems. Such artificial intelligence techniques as neural networks, fuzzy systems, and genetic and evolutionary algorithms are widely used for communication systems management, optimization, and prediction. Artificial intelligence approach provides optimized results in a challenging task of call admission control, handover, routing, and traffic prediction in cellular networks. 5G mobile communications are designed as heterogeneous networks, whose important requirement is accommodating great numbers of users and the quality of service satisfaction. Call admission control plays a significant role in providing the desired quality of service. An effective call admission control algorithm is needed for optimizing the cellular network system. Many call admission control schemes have been proposed. The paper proposes a methodology for developing a genetic neurofuzzy controller for call admission in 5G networks. Performance of the proposed admission control is evaluated through computer simulation.

This paper presents a novel method of expressing the quality of service in a mobile telecommunication system when its performance depends on several factors including applied codecs? characteristics (voice quality and data flow rate) and telecommunications traffic service possibilities. The influence of these factors is unified in one variable - quality of service measure. The proposed method is especially applicable in the cases when two-dimensional systems are analyzed - for example when two codecs with different flow rate and different achievable connection quality are used in a system. As an example, we also studied system with full-rate or mixed full-rate and half-rate codec implementation depending on the offered traffic. The system performances - mean dataflow and mean connection quality as a function of offered traffic are presented graphically and also expressed quantitatively by the novel quality of service measure. The systems with different number of available traffic channels may be compared on the base of this novel evaluation value such that the system with the highest value is the most suitable one for the concrete situation. In this way mobile system design is simplified to the great extent. The developed model is applicable generally for mobile telephony systems defining, but in this paper we studied its implementation for Global System for Mobile communications.

The coexistence of TV broadcasting and mobile services causes interference that leads to poor quality-of-service for TV consumers. Solutions usually found in the market involve external band-stop filters along with TV reception log-periodic and Yagi-Uda antennas. This paper presents a log-periodic antenna design without additional filtering that serves as a lower cost alternative to avoid interference from mobile services into the UHF TV. The proposed antenna operates in the UHF TV band (470–790 MHz-passband) and rejects the 800 MHz and 900 MHz bands (stopband) of 4G/LTE-800 and GSM900 services, respectively. Matching to 50 Ohms is very satisfactory in the passband with values of S11 below −12 dB. Furthermore, the antenna is highly directive with a realized gain of approximately 8 dBi and a front-to-back ratio greater than 20 dB.

The LTE broadband evolved from an earlier Third Generation Partnership Project system which is known as the Universal Mobile Telecommunication System (UMTS), which evolved from the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM). The network architecture of this system has been designed with the aim to support a packet-switched traffic with seamless mobility and great quality of service. The main goal of the LTE is to provide a high data rate with low latency and a packet optimized radio access technology that supports deployment of bandwidth. Hence, this study is based on the evaluation of the LTE network in the south-west region of Nigeria. This study evaluates the LTE network strength in the South-West region of Nigeria. Questionnaires were administered among users in these areas randomly. Thereafter, data were analyzed and research questions were answered from the analyzed results. The results showed that 9Mobile and MTN has the best quality of service of LTE network in South-West, Nigeria, also that the LTE network has not really been active in Osun and Ekiti states.

The vision that wireless technology in the near future will provide mobile users with at least similar multimedia services as those available to the fixed hosts is quite established today. Towards this direction, extensive research efforts are underway to guarantee Quality-of-service (QoS) in mobile environments. An important factor that affects the provisioning of resources in such environments is the variability of the environment itself. From the user’s perspective, this variability is a direct consequence of the user’s movement and, at any given time, a function of his position. Exploiting the user’s location to optimally manage and provision the resources of the mobile network is likely to enhance both the capacity of the network and the offered quality of service. In this chapter, we aim to provide a general introduction to the emerging research area of mobile communications, which is generally known as location-based network resource management.

It is well known that the evolution of 4G-based mobile multimedia network systems will contribute significantly to future m-health applications that require high bandwidth, high data rates, and more critically better Quality of service and quality of experience. The key to the successful implementation of these emerging applications is the compatibility of emerging broadband wireless networks such as mobile WiMAX, HSUPA, and LTE networks with future m-health systems. Most recently, the concept of 4G-health is introduced. This is defined as the evolution of m-health towards targeted personalized medical systems with adaptable functionalities and compatibility with future 4G communications and network technologies. This new concept represents the evolution of m-health toward 4G mobility. It will have new challenges especially from the next generation of mobile communications and networks perspective and in particular from relevant quality of service and quality of experience issues. This chapter presents some of these challenges and illustrates the importance of the new concepts of medical Quality of Service (m-QoS) and medical Quality of Experience (m-QoE) for 4G-health systems. The chapter also presents a validation scenario of these concepts for medical video streaming application as a typical 4G-health scenario.

The most accepted SERVQUAL is heavily applied to measure the service quality of Business to Customer (B2C) profit oriented organizations than for non-profit organizations. As such, this paper describes the development of a 19-item instrument for assessing customer perceptions of service quality in public service with special reference to Divisional Secretariats in Sri Lanka. To do so, both qualitative and quantitative methods were utilized in three fundamental stages recommended by Churchill (1979) and Parasuraman et.al, (1988). In following their footsteps, initially a qualitative research was undertaken in five Divisional Secretariats within Gampaha District through interviews with 50 customers from different backgrounds and affiliations which produced 42-items with eight factors emerged. These 42-items were included in a questionnaire and quantitative study was undertaken with 100 respondents who were current or recent customers of Divisional Secretariats within Gampatha District. To ensure the reliability and validity of the measures of service quality construct, mainly reliability test, split-half reliability and factor analysis, were used. Finally, 42-items were deduced in to 19-items and a new scale was developed to measure the service quality of Divisional Secretariats with 5 dimensions Responsiveness, Communication, Tangible, Empathy and Assurance. Among these, responsiveness dimensions could be the least important and the empathy dimension was of most concern to customers. As a closing note, limitations and further studies were discussed.

This study aims to analyze the service level of the Pulo Gebang Integrated bus terminal in increasing customer satisfaction. Based on the analysis and discussion, the results of the gap analysis between customer perceptions and expectations of 22 service attributes are all negative (-) with a range of -0.15 to -1 , 49. This indicates that the quality of service is still far from customer expectations, the attributes of interest after analyzing with the Importance Performance Analysis, the priority for improvement is obtained as well as in an effort to improve the quality of customer service at the Pulo Gebang Integrated bus terminal, after analyzing the approach with the Quality Function Deployment method, seven order of priority improvement.
