Your partner is a rarity inside and out, and you want an engagement ring worthy of them, but while you know your beloved, you know little if anything about precious metal and gems. this article is help you with a step-by-step guide to finding the ring that is right for them and that will shine with your love for the rest of your lives. In what follows, we break it down for you from the fuzzy, like how to find out what your partner really wants, to the technical, like how a gemstone is valued and graded in the marketplace and which precious metals and alloys are best for a lifetime of beauty and wear.

Abstract Abu al-Fath Khazini’s “Balance of Wisdom” was one of the most sophisticated and advanced balances to be designed and manufactured in the medieval Islamic world. Hydrostatic balances were used to assess the value of the precious metals and gemstones entering the royal treasury. Al-Khazini presents a detailed description of his balance in Al-Kitab Mizan Al-Hikma. Among the advantages of this instrument were its higher degree of precision, its complex triple action, and its ability to identify and determine the percentage by weight of the constituent elements in a binary alloy, provided one of the elements in the alloy is known. It was also capable of measuring the weight and density of pure metals and alloys with a high degree of accuracy. This paper describes the construction of a prototype of Al-Khazini’s balance and the testing of its accuracy in weighing, titration, and the identification of elements following the instructions contained in Al-Kitab Mizan Al-Hikma. The instrument was found to function as accurately as claimed by its inventor.

A variety of materials containing many different microstructures have been examined with the USS MVEM. Three topics have been selected to illustrate some of the more recent studies of diffraction phenomena and defect, grain and multi-phase structures of metals and minerals.(1) Critical Voltage Effects in Metals and Alloys - This many-beam dynamical diffraction phenomenon, in which some Bragg resonances vanish at certain accelerating voltages, Vc, depends sensitively on the spacing of diffracting planes, Debye temperature θD and structure factors. Vc values can be measured to ± 0.5% in the HVEM ana used to obtain improved extinction distances and θD values appropriate to electron diffraction, as well as to probe local bonding effects and composition variations in alloys.
